Chapter 125 If you haven't done anything wrong, why would you receive food from the dead?
The food stall owner stared at the woman in shock. "What nonsense are you talking about? Dead people! Dead people! How can we deliver food to you when people are dead?!"
Why would I lie to you!
The woman glared at him, her expression growing increasingly frightened. She stammered, "I ordered takeout at home just now, a fried chicken. Shortly after, someone knocked on the door and said my takeout had arrived. I took it back to my room and found that what they delivered was a stir-fry and rice. I thought the delivery driver had made a mistake, so I called him, and he said my takeout hadn't been delivered yet."
Later, the delivery driver arrived. I went out to pick up the food after receiving a call. This time, the delivery was for fried chicken. The driver also mentioned that he had never delivered to my house before.
The boss frowned and asked, "Who delivered the previous takeout? Was it a prank, deliberately saying it was food for a dead person to scare you?"
"No, no..."
The woman waved her hands repeatedly and said, "I initially thought it was a prank, until I returned to my room with the fried chicken delivery, and guess what I saw?"
"What?"
"I saw a dark figure eating on my table!"
As she spoke, the woman's face grew even paler. "I screamed in fright, and the thing seemed to be frightened too, and then it disappeared."
The neighbors heard the commotion and came to ask what was wrong. Only then did I dare to look at the food on the table. The food smelled rancid, and the stir-fried vegetables were rotten. I'd heard the old folks in the village say that only food eaten with those kinds of things would go bad…”
The boss's expression also changed slightly.
Seeing that he didn't speak, the woman became a little anxious. "Old Yao, don't go home after you close up shop tonight. Our house isn't clean. We'll stay at your parents' place tonight! We'll find a master to come and take a look at the house tomorrow to see what's going on!"
This woman was the wife of the food stall owner. The owner felt uneasy listening to her speak.
"Okay, then I'll stay at my parents' place tonight."
The boss thought for a moment, then asked, "What about the problematic meal? Is it still at home?"
"Yeah, I didn't even dare to touch that meal."
It's late now, but the food stall's late-night business is just beginning, and there are still quite a few customers. The owner doesn't have time to go home and check on things.
He said to the woman, "Then don't go back yet, help me here tonight."
When it came to helping, the woman seemed reluctant. "I'm on my period today and I'm not feeling well. Don't you have employees at your shop? How can you expect the boss's wife to do this herself?"
"Boss, a case of beer, please!"
A customer called for the boss. The boss glanced at his wife with displeasure, but said nothing and went to get the customer beer.
The woman looked around the area, seemingly trying to find an empty seat. But business was booming tonight, and there were no seats available at this hour; many customers were still waiting in line outside the food stall.
She saw that Yun Shu and Lu Shijing had finished eating, but Yun Shu and Lu Shijing were still sitting there, so she went over and said, "Are you done eating? If you're done, hurry up and leave, don't take up seats."
Yun Shu glanced at her amusedly, "Big sister, we've almost finished eating, there's still one dish left to serve, why are you, the proprietress, kicking us out?"
"Who are you calling 'big sister'?"
The woman immediately became angry and looked at Yun Shu sarcastically, saying, "Don't think you're so great just because you're young and have some looks. Can't you see how many customers we have in our restaurant? You've already finished eating, but you still occupy seats and block other customers from coming in to eat. You have no manners at all."
"No matter how bad I am, I'm not like you, who stole someone else's husband and caused the death of that person's ex-wife and children, resulting in the deaths of innocent people."
As Yun Shu finished speaking, the woman's pupils contracted slightly, and she stood there stunned in shock.
How could she have known...?
Before she could react, Yun Shu smiled slightly at her, "Good deeds will be rewarded, and evil deeds will be punished. It's not that retribution won't come, it's just that the time hasn't arrived yet. Do you know who receives food for the dead? It's the dying. Remember to eat your fill tonight, it might be your last meal."
"You're talking nonsense!"
Yun Shu's words instantly panicked the woman. Her face turned pale, and she became somewhat deranged. She even overturned the table in front of Yun Shu.
He was clearly frightened by Yun Shu's words.
The woman yelled at Yun Shu, "Get out! Get out of here! You're not allowed to eat at my restaurant!"
"Wen Aili, what are you doing!"
Just then, the boss came to serve Yun Shu and Lu Shijing the last dish and saw this scene. He was furious and rushed over to grab the woman.
"Are you crazy? How dare you overturn a customer's table? Apologize to the customer right now!"
When Wen Aili saw the boss arrive, she calmed down a bit and said to him, "She insulted me first, and I couldn't stand it, so I hit her."
The boss looked at her sternly, "Then you shouldn't have flipped the table. Apologize right now!"
Wen Aili looked at him with a wronged expression. "Honey, she insulted me first! She even cursed me to die! Why are you siding with an outsider instead of me?"
"I've spoiled you way too much!"
Seeing that she refused to apologize, the boss had no choice but to go over and apologize to Yun Shu himself, and said that the order would be free and he could also give her a small gift.
"I'm so sorry, my wife has been going through something lately, which has caused her mental state to be a bit off."
Seeing him apologize repeatedly, Yun Shu said, "Let's just let this go since it's a free meal. As for your wife's situation, I suggest you divorce her and stay away from her to avoid getting into trouble."
The boss didn't speak, but Wen Aili couldn't hold back any longer and came over again, saying, "What are you saying? How can you be so despicable? Cursing me is one thing, but you're also instigating my husband to divorce me!"
"You know what you've done."
Yun Shu glanced at her indifferently, "If you didn't do anything, how could you be eating food from the dead? It's not like the dead are just sitting around doing nothing, delivering food to your house for no reason."
After saying that, Yun Shu left.
The boss stood there, looking at Wen Aili with a grim expression, and asked her in a deep voice, "What exactly did you do? I heard it all just now, that woman said you harmed someone."
"I don't!"
Wen Aili's eyes flickered with guilt, but she was used to lying and quickly regained her composure.
Instead, she accused her boss, "Honey, you just listened to a few words from a stranger and you're already doubting me like this? Do you even care about me anymore?!"
The boss gave her a deep look, then squatted down to clean up the mess. "I never expected you to become such a different person after getting married. You're lazy, have such a bad temper, and have no sense of propriety at all! I should have known better than to get a divorce. If I hadn't, maybe they wouldn't have..."
At this point, the boss paused in his packing, and his eyes gradually reddened.
"Yao Shengwu!"
The woman's eyes immediately filled with anger, "They're all dead, and you're still thinking about them! Someone told me that you and your ex-wife divorced, but you still transfer a large sum of money to her every month, is that true?"
Thank goodness that bitch and her son are dead, otherwise I would have wasted my time with you! You transferred all my money to them, how am I supposed to live! You don't care about me at all!
Yao Shengwu sensed that the customers in the store were all watching the commotion, so he pulled Wen Aili away first, and then slapped her hard.
"Yao Shengwu! You dare hit me?"
Wen Aili looked at him in disbelief.
"This is what you deserve."
Yao Shengwu said expressionlessly, "The money I transferred to them was for our son's alimony. When you wanted to marry me, didn't you say you were willing to live a hard life with me? Why are you saying that now? Respect the dead. If you say such things again, don't blame me for being impolite!"
Wen Aili couldn't hear what he was saying at all. "How dare you hit me! I want a divorce! Divorce! Go be a bachelor by yourself!"
She turned and walked away angrily.
Thinking of what Yao Shengwu had said, Wen Aili didn't want to stay at the food stall with him any longer, so she simply returned to the apartment where they lived.
The apartment was in a residential complex next to the food stall, just across the street.
When Wen Aili got home, she called her best friend and cried about what had happened that day. Before she knew it, it was past midnight.
Knock knock knock.
There was a knock on the door.
Who is it?
Wen Aili asked a question, but no one answered. So she went behind the door and looked out through the peephole.
There was no one outside the door.
"Which brat is knocking on the door?"
She complained, then picked up her phone and prepared to sit back on the sofa to continue complaining to her best friend.
Knock knock knock.
The knocking sounded again.
