Chapter 175 Mom and Dad, Don't Be So Heartless

Sheng Laowu was silent for a while, then hummed in agreement.

Then he said, "I'm going upstairs now."

Ye Ning watched his retreating figure and muttered, "Did the sun rise in the west today? How strange."

She gave Sheng Xiuwen a push, "Go check on your youngest son. What happened to him? Is he seriously injured?"

"No need, he's lively and energetic, doesn't seem to be in any danger."

Ye Ning patted him on the shoulder, "Just go and ask, I told you to."

"I'm going to make something nice for my sister to help her recover."

"Holy crap—"

Sheng Xiuwen wanted to go to the kitchen, but Ye Ning glared at him, so he reluctantly went upstairs to check on his youngest son, who seemed a bit off.

Sheng Xiuwen cut to the chase, "Your mother sent me up to ask what happened to you?"

His eyes swept over Sheng Laowu from head to toe.

"I'm fine. My sister, Xinghe, arrived just in time; she saved my life."

It was such a small difference; he would never have seen the sun rise again.

No matter who you are, you will always be afraid of death.

"Good to know. You can calculate for yourself how many times your sister has saved you."

Sheng Laowu lowered his head and hummed in agreement.

After a long while, he finally looked up at Sheng Xiuwen and asked, "Dad, do I still have a chance? Will Xinghe forgive me?"

Sheng Xiuwen: "If it were me, I wouldn't."

Even now, Sheng Xiuwen is still furious when he thinks about what those kids did before.

Sheng Laowu lowered his head again after he had just raised it.

"Everyone has to pay the price for their mistakes, but if you do nothing, the mistakes will stay there forever."

Sheng Xiuwen left after saying those two sentences.

Ye Ning told Xinghe some good news at the dinner table.

The company's issues have been mostly resolved in the past few days, and the remaining finishing work doesn't require them to work overtime every day.

"This also means that we will have a lot of time to spend with our little sister from now on."

"My sister's nineteenth birthday is coming up. This time, I'm going to throw her a super grand birthday party so that everyone knows that our little princess is back."

Ye Ning announced excitedly.

Sheng Yue heard this from the corner and ran down crying.

"Mom, what am I supposed to do then?"

"It's Xinghe's birthday. How am I supposed to behave? I've lived in this house for over ten years. Even if I had a cat or dog, I should have some feelings for it by now."

"You are being far too heartless."

"When everyone finds out, how am I supposed to live in Beijing?"

Sheng Yue cried and knelt down in front of Sheng Xiuwen and Ye Ning, "Dad, Mom, please, don't be so heartless to me, okay?"

Ye Ning left early and returned late, and hadn't run into Sheng Yue for a while. Her gaze towards Sheng Yue was somewhat cold.

“Sheng Yue, I think you need to understand one thing: this position has always belonged to Xinghe. You’ve occupied her position for so many years, and now it’s just being returned to her. What’s there to be unwilling about?”

Sheng Yue cried more miserably than ever before, "Mom, I know I've wronged Xinghe, but I'm innocent too! What am I supposed to do?"

Are you really trying to drive me to my death?

Sheng Xiuwen's face darkened. "Nobody wants you to die."

"But Dad, you should think about me too. How am I supposed to face them? What will my classmates at school, the people around me, and my fans think of me?"

Ye Ning didn't want to save face for her at all. "The news that you used evil spirits to harm your classmate has spread everywhere. At least five people have asked me about it to my face."

Sheng Yue's face turned pale instantly.

“They want justice and they’ve blocked our doorstep. We’ve lived a respectable life, and this is the first time we’ve encountered something like this.”

Thinking about all this, Ye Ning felt an indescribable irritation and disgust.

The Sheng family has always done good deeds and accumulated virtues, so how could they have raised such a child?

Even if she wasn't their biological child, she had lived in the Sheng family for so many years.

Those classmates were innocent too, so Ye Ning pinched her nose and apologized to them.

Ye Ning's voice was a little cold, "Tomorrow, you will go to their home in person to apologize. Whatever they want to do, they can suffer the consequences themselves."

"No, Mom, no, I really didn't hurt them. I don't know what happened."

Sheng Yue shook her head frantically, reaching out to grab Ye Ning's leg. Tears soaked her hair and clung to her face, her eyes brimming with tears.

"Go and explain these things to them."

Ye Ning looked at Sheng Yue with disappointment and weariness in her eyes. "You can even hurt classmates you have no relation to. It's hard for me not to suspect that you've used the same methods on us as well."

Sheng Yue became even more agitated, "Xinghe said it, right? You all know she's never liked me; she's the one who can get close to evil spirits—"

"Enough!" Sheng Xiuwen was usually a man of few words, but when he got angry he was quite frightening. "Your injuries are almost healed, so you should have moved out a long time ago. I'll have someone help you pack your things tomorrow."

"dad!"

Sheng Yue's pupils trembled. She stood up, her skirt billowing slightly in the wind.

"In that case, I might as well just die."

She rammed directly into the sharp marble countertop in the kitchen.

Sheng Laosan reached out and stopped her.

"Third Brother, let me go. Just let me die. What's the point of me living like this? Last time I hovered on the brink of death twice, but I still couldn't prove my innocence."

Sheng Yue cried and made a scene.

Sheng Laosan had a bit of a headache; he could tell that his parents had reached their limit of patience.
