Chapter 43 Science + Metaphysics

After staying up all night, Xinghe finally completed half of the task.

She improved the original network and added live streaming rights for some users.

It's still in the initial testing phase, and she plans to select only a few lucky participants in the first batch so that any bugs can be fixed in time.

Xinghe raised her hand, and the computer floated in the air. She chanted a spell, "All things are created, according to my will."

On the computer, the program she wrote was integrated into the original underworld network, and a few lucky people who were chosen quietly gained a live streaming app on their phones.

Xinghe snapped his fingers. "Science plus metaphysics is indeed the most awesome combination."

I'll do a live stream these next few days to test the program and see if it works.

However, she hasn't decided what content to broadcast in the next episode yet.

In order to keep her shop running smoothly during this period, she couldn't slack off and had to deliver the goods herself.

Although it's just a matter of doing some manual labor, it's troublesome and tiring.

If we had known to let the people of the underworld figure out how to send ghosts to be reincarnated, we wouldn't have needed the local earth god to intervene.

Land delivery is really convenient.

Xinghe's eyes darted around. Since the underworld was encouraging civil servants to re-enter the workforce, then what about the Black and White Impermanence, Ox-Head and Horse-Face, the Day-Roaming Gods, the Night-Roaming Gods...?

More importantly, she forgot that there was a deity in the underworld's office on earth: the City God.

As the superior of the Earth God and the Black and White Impermanence, the City God has even greater power. If he were to help deliver goods (just kidding) or help maintain peace between the human world and the underworld, it would definitely be faster.

The Milky Way seemed to stir with anticipation.

She had never interacted with the City God before and didn't know what kind of person he was.

Ye Ning and Sheng Xiuwen found some information about the family that took Xinghe away.

They were investigating intensively, and took a moment to send a message to Xinghe.

Ye Ning sent a long message, telling Xinghe to take good care of herself, to remember to wear more clothes when it gets cold, that they bought several cars for Xinghe and put them in the garage, so that Xinghe could drive them herself after she got her driver's license, and to buy her whatever she wanted to eat, and that they would bring her back gifts.

As always, Sheng Xiuwen was concise, sending a message that consisted of only one sentence.

If those brats upset you, don't hold back, just beat them up. If you can't beat them, call Uncle Sun. I'll take responsibility if they hurt you.

Xinghe obediently replied to both of their messages.

Okay, everyone please be careful.

They can't beat me.

Sheng Lao Er stood on the balcony. He lived on the fourth floor, and his balcony was positioned so that he could see Xinghe's balcony.

Xinghe lay lazily on the recliner, as docile as a ragdoll cat with its claws tucked in, beautiful and harmless.

Not long after, Ye Ning called. She hadn't seen Xinghe all day and missed her terribly.

He kept calling her "my good little sister" and sharing the interesting things that happened that day with her.

Xinghe's eyes curved into crescents, countless starlight falling into her kitten-like eyes. Her shoulder-length hair fell loosely over her shoulders, making her even more beautiful, like a kitten revealing its soft belly.

She had never shown such an expression in front of them.

She looks more like a hedgehog covered in thorns. Was she like this when she was little? Or was she cuter?

Xinghe sensed his gaze, looked up abruptly, and the smile on her face instantly vanished.

It was as if they had seen a stranger they didn't like, cold and full of defensiveness.

She got up, put on her slippers, and went into the room, completely blocking Sheng Lao Er's view.

Sheng Lao Er felt a little empty inside. It wasn't that he couldn't accept this new sister, but from childhood to adulthood, their sister had always been Sheng Yue.

They watched Sheng Yue grow up and got used to treating her well.

If Xinghe had grown up by their side, would she have smiled and called out "Second Brother" softly with her little cat eyes?

Sheng Lao Er felt inexplicably irritable, his fingers hesitating on the dial pad.

Although Xinghe didn't like them, he wouldn't talk nonsense about such things. He had also witnessed Xinghe's abilities during this period. Should he go on this study tour or not?

"Second brother, may I come in?"

There was a knock on the door, and Sheng Yue's soft, weak voice came from outside.

"Come in."

Sheng Lao Er's expression softened a bit, but his gaze remained fixed on his phone.

Sheng Yue walked in and stood next to Sheng Lao Er. She tilted her head and looked at Sheng Lao Er, "Second Brother, are you struggling with whether or not to go on this inspection tour?"

"Well, Xinghe wouldn't joke about something like this."

Sheng Yue frowned. "But this time it's really crucial. It's not just to help your students with their research trips, but more importantly, the Land and Resources Bureau is going to investigate the geology of Huaishan County. If you say you're not going, what will they think of you?"

"This was decided a long time ago. It's fine with the school, but we can't just use the reasons Xinghe gave us to fob them off, can we?"

Sheng Yue muttered, "They might label Second Brother as a feudal superstitious person, which could affect your job."

This geological survey is crucial to the development of Huaishan County over the next ten years and cannot be taken lightly.

These were the very things that made Sheng Lao Er hesitate. He rubbed his forehead and said, "I'll think about it some more."

"Xinghe may have some skills, but she's not necessarily some kind of fairy with golden words. Otherwise, how come she didn't figure out that we were switched at birth? I wouldn't have had to live with the reputation of being a cuckoo in someone else's nest for so long."

Sheng Yue's eyes turned red.

The second son of the Sheng family skillfully coaxed Sheng Yue, "Yueyue, we didn't say anything about you. You are also a daughter of the Sheng family."

Sheng Yue wiped away her tears. "I was being too dramatic, but I really don't understand. If Xinghe's divination is so powerful, why didn't he come back sooner? Instead, it's been so long since then. Our family has been in a lot of trouble lately."

Sheng Lao Er pursed his lips and remained silent.

"I've said too much again. Whether you go or not, I support you this time. We will all stand by your side."
