Chapter 118: Assassination Attack

Inside the Ice Palace in the Tianwang District, Luo Tian and Sharp were handing over the task to the guards.

Previously, Roger had been in charge of the defense of the Ice Palace. Since Robert issued an order to hand over the defense of the Ice Palace to Luo Tian, there have been many controversial voices in the Ice Palace Guard. The guards were worried that this was a sign that the emperor was going to demote Roger, and everyone was in danger for a while. Of course, there were also some fans of Luo Tian who were looking forward to being a soldier of the winner of the Tianwu Tournament, which was a very honorable thing.

Luo Tian anticipated that some soldiers would be afraid, so he thought of countermeasures in advance. Fortunately, Sharp was the captain of the Ice Palace Guard before, and he was undoubtedly the most suitable person to take over and appease the guards.

The neatly lined up Ice Palace guards looked ahead. Sharp took the scepter from former captain William, raised it high, and said in a loud voice: "From this moment on, Prince Luo Tian will be in charge of the defense of the Ice Palace. Now, please let the prince give a speech of admonition."

In front of the Ice Palace Square, there was a three-meter-high command platform. Luo Tian stood on the platform, looking at the tens of thousands of soldiers below, and for the first time he experienced the pleasure of having power.

"Dear brave warriors, my name is Luo Tian. It is my honor to fight alongside you in the future. My brother, Prince Roger, has been in charge of the defense of the Ice Palace for many years. Some people may wonder why the emperor sent me to take over the Ice Palace. Will there be any struggle later? What I want to say is that you are worrying too much. The emperor assigned other tasks to Prince Roger and sent me to take charge of the defense. He also hopes to use my martial arts to enhance the combat effectiveness of the guards. So there is no such thing as struggle." Luo Tian's words dispelled the doubts of many people.

He continued, "Everyone knows Sharp. He used to be the captain of the Ice Palace. He will be responsible for specific management affairs in the future. You can tell him any ideas you have. If you encounter difficulties, you can find him or me directly. Since you are under my management, your affairs are my affairs. I only have one request for everyone: obey orders and defend the Ice Palace. That's all I want to say."

After the admonition, some soldiers applauded, but most of them remained silent. Luo Tian walked down from the command platform and said to Sharp: "Take good care of them. If you have any problems, feel free to contact me."

"Yes, Prince!" Sharp bowed.

Luo Tian walked along the corridor of the square towards the flying car. Suddenly there was a commotion in the crowd. Sharp and eight guards quickly surrounded Luo Tian in the middle to prevent any accidents.

Sharp called a non-commissioned officer and ordered, "Go and see what's going on!"

The sergeant rushed into the crowd and quickly came back to report: "Two soldiers were fighting just now. Now they have been tied up in accordance with the requirements of violating military discipline."

"Okay, lock them up first, and I'll interrogate them myself later," Sharp said.

Luo Tian said, "It's not easy to fight at this critical moment, Sergeant, go and bring those two people to me."

Soon, two soldiers, one tall and one short, were brought to Luo Tian. It was obvious that the short soldier was the one being bullied, with a bruised face and blood at the corner of his mouth. The tall soldier's face and body were clean, and it looked like he hadn't suffered much.

Sharp asked the two men kneeling in front of him, "Why are you fighting?"

The tall soldier spoke first: "He was the first to attack. I was just defending myself. It has nothing to do with me."

The short soldier retorted: "He was the one who insulted the prince first. I couldn't stand it and told him to shut up. Then he started to hit me."

The two men insisted on their own opinions and neither of them gave in. Sharp had no choice but to ask the people around him, "Is there anyone who can testify for them?"

The soldiers looked at each other and no one dared to stand up and speak.

Luo Tian walked up to the two men. The shorter soldier held his head high, but the taller soldier kept his head down, not daring to look Luo Tian in the face.

"Since there is no one to testify, let them go. If they do it again next time, they will be severely punished." Luo Tian said to Sharp.

"Prince, I think something is fishy. Should we take him back for interrogation first?" Sharp suggested.

"Today is a memorable day. I have met so many good brothers. Just consider it as I have forgiven their sins." Luo Tian said.

Sharp then ordered his men: "Untie them and let them go!"

The soldiers followed Sharp's instructions and removed the ropes from the two men.

"Why don't you thank the prince?" Sharp said.

The two men knelt on the ground, lowered their heads, and bowed to Luo Tian: "Thank you, Prince, for your forgiveness."

Luo Tian went forward and was about to help them up, when suddenly the tall soldier pulled out a sharp dagger from his sleeve and stabbed it into Luo Tian's chest.

Because the incident happened too suddenly and the tall soldier moved so quickly, Sharp and the guards had no time to react.

Luo Tian instinctively stretched out his hands and blocked them in front of his chest. With a "puff" sound, blood spurted directly onto his face.

Sharp kicked the tall soldier down, and the guards on both sides held the assassin down.

The assassin's knife handle was deeply inserted into the short soldier's back. Due to the great force, the short soldier directly spat out blood, and the blood fell on Luo Tian's face.

"Prince, are you okay?" Sharp asked with concern.

"I'm fine, hurry up and save him." Luo Tian supported the short soldier, whose blood was flowing more and more.

"Prince...are you not hurt?" the short man asked weakly with a pale face.

"Thanks to you, I escaped. What's your name?" Luo Tian asked.

"I don't have a name. I've been an orphan since I was young, and they all call me Ice Monkey." His voice became weaker and weaker, and you had to put your ear close to his mouth to hear it.

"Sharp, you stay here and get to the bottom of this matter." Luo Tian ordered, then turned to the ice monkey and said, "Hold on, don't fall asleep, I will definitely heal you."
