Chapter 119: Interrogation of the Assassin

Under the cover of night, in the interrogation room of the Ice Palace Guards in the Tianwang District, the interrogation lasted for twelve hours. Sharp was already very tired. He used various methods such as whipping, burning, choking, and electric shock, but the assassin's mouth was like a steel plate welded on it and could not be pried open.

A non-commissioned officer came in, whispered something in Sharp's ear, handed him a document, and then left.

Sharp took the information and threw it in front of the assassin. There was a photo of a girl and information on the information: "Jim, it seems that I need to get to know you again. Your parents passed away ten years ago, leaving you with a sister. Her name is Gina, and she is now a maid in Prince Roger's palace. Is that right?"

Jim glanced at the information and finally spoke: "I have been an orphan since I was a child. I don't have any sisters, and I don't know this woman."

Sharp knew that since the assassin was willing to talk, the woman in the information must have a special relationship with him.

"Think about it carefully. Even if you don't confess, we can still find your sister. Do you think Roger will protect her? If he knew that you are being detained here for trial, will he believe you?" Sharp asked.

A trace of doubt flashed across the assassin's face, but he still refused to speak.

Sharp keenly caught the change in his mood and suddenly raised his voice to threaten: "I'll give you one last chance. If you don't confess, I'll send your photo to Roger and tell him that you've agreed to correct him. Then we'll see how he treats your sister."

The assassin's mouth muscles twitched a few times because of nervousness: "No, no. If I cooperate with you, can you rescue my sister?"

Sharp took a glass of water and handed it to the assassin. Shakingly in his shackles, he raised the glass and drank it all in one gulp.

Sharp continued, "Of course we can rescue your sister, but it will take some time. After all, the situation in Roger's Palace must be very complicated. We still need to investigate, and we need to find the right time."

"I can help you. I have been to Roger's Palace twice. Later, my sister told me a lot of details, and I also drew a map. I made this map because I wanted to rescue my sister by myself, but I found that the palace was full of traps and the defenses were tight. Even if I could sneak in, it would be impossible to bring my sister out." Jim lowered his head as he spoke.

Sharp changed his stern attitude, walked to Jim's side, patted his shoulder and comforted him: "You have seen that the emperor asked Prince Luo Tian to replace Roger and manage the defense of the Ice Palace. This means very clearly that he does not trust Roger. Besides, Prince Luo Tian is a contestant selected by Uranus City to participate in the Star Picking Competition. He is very powerful. As long as he is willing, it will be easy to rescue your sister. The key is whether you are willing to cooperate."

Jim stood up excitedly: "I am willing to cooperate, please tell me how to cooperate."

Seeing that Jim had taken the bait, Sharp said, "It's very simple. First, you have to tell us the details of Roger's instructions to assassinate you. If necessary, you have to serve as a witness to testify against Roger's crime. Second, you just said that there is a map of Roger's palace. This is very important to us and can shorten the time to rescue your sister. Third, you write a letter to your sister, briefly explaining your situation. When we send someone to rescue your sister, this letter will serve as proof."

Jim nodded. "No problem. I'll cooperate. The map is under my bed sheet. You can write it now if you trust me."

Sharp asked someone to bring a pen and paper and put it in front of Jim: "First, tell me how Roger arranged for you to assassinate Prince Luo Tian."

"People like me definitely can't meet Roger. The one who contacted me was one of his eunuchs. He said his name was Kun and he was very familiar with my sister. When my sister was cleaning the room, she broke an expensive porcelain, and she couldn't afford to compensate with her salary. So Kun gave her an idea, saying that Prince Roger was recruiting assassins to assassinate Luo Tian. As long as I can do this, my sister won't have to be sent to the human battery factory to be made into a dry battery." Jim said this and hugged his head in pain. "My sister is only sixteen years old. You know how horrible it is to be made into a human battery. The only wish of my parents before they died was that I take good care of my sister."

Sharp handed Jim another glass of water: "And then?"

Jim didn't drink the water and continued, "After thinking it over again and again, I agreed to Kun's request. Kun showed me Prince Roger's handwritten instructions, which meant that as long as I could kill Luo Tian, my sister would not only be spared from being processed into a human battery, but he would also give us a place to live and promised us a large sum of money, enough to last a hundred years."

"Do you have Prince Roger's handwritten instructions?" Sharp asked.

"No! Kun just showed it to me and destroyed it immediately. He said it was confidential and could not be kept. Then he told me the time and place of the assassination, and instructed me not to worry even if I failed, because Prince Roger would find a way to save me and my sister." Jim said.

"Roger and that Kun are lying to you. Even if you can succeed in the assassination, can you run away in front of everyone? As long as you are caught by Prince Luo Tian, no matter how capable Roger is, can he rescue you from here? And the house and money promised to you are impossible. Even if you can escape with your sister, Roger will send someone to kill you to silence you." Sharp said these words to make Jim give up his fantasy and cooperate obediently.

Jim felt that what he said made sense. He was definitely dead now, and his only hope was to let his sister survive.

Sharp asked again: "So you haven't seen Prince Roger, then what does the Kun you mentioned look like? Do you remember?"

Jim nodded. "I remember that he was very tall, thin, dark-skinned, with blue hair. He looked very mature, probably in his forties. Oh, and there was a red spot on his chin that was the size of a fingernail. It must be a birthmark."
