Zhou Chunhua, lying on the ground, crawled towards her daughter, her body contorted in a cocoon.
"Sister, don't be afraid, Tongtong will protect you." Tongtong, leaning against Nini, comforted her in her childish voice.
The next second, a large hand pulled her up from the ground.
The man pulled on the rope binding her, half-dragging and half-pulling her toward Nini.
Reaching Nini's side, the man reached out with his other hand and lifted both children up in one swift motion.
In the man's hands, they were like two little chicks, struggling in vain.
"Third Brother, should we dig a hole or pour cement?" another voice asked from the side.
The man pulling her along said, "Didn't you hear what your older brother said about not leaving any traces?"
"Then... what do we do?"
The man rolled his eyes at the other man and sneered, "Throw it into the meat grinder, then take it to the pig farm to feed the pigs."
Zhou Chunhua turned her head in disbelief to look at the man pushing her forward.
When she set off from Jiangshi to Shatinzui, she thought she might stay in the deep mountains and forests forever.
But they never imagined they would become pig feed.
However, the next second, there was a sudden loud bang.
Zhou Chunhua looked in the direction of the sound and saw something crash heavily onto the tin wall panel in the light ahead.
"What's going on outside?" the man holding her shouted in that direction.
But there was no response from the other end.
It's as if there's no one there at all.
The man frowned and ordered the person next to him, "Go and see what happened."
So the little follower who was with the man ran over there.
As soon as the man stepped out of the factory gate, there was another bang.
Then……
She saw the man fall to the ground, motionless.
The next second, she heard the man behind her breathing rapidly.
She looked again and saw a long, slender shadow appear on the ground outside the open factory gate.
"who?"
The man suddenly shouted, startling her.
Looking again, the shadow did not stop.
The next moment, a familiar figure appeared at the factory gate.
It's him!
He's here!
He's finally here!
In an instant, Zhou Chunhua's vision blurred.
"Who? Who's there!" the man behind her shouted again.
"Let them go!" A familiar voice came along with the sound of footsteps.
"It's you? Your surname is... Gu?"
As soon as the man finished speaking in a panic, he wrapped his arms around her neck.
In an instant, Zhou Chunhua struggled to breathe.
"Don't come any closer! Don't come any closer!" The man held her neck tightly and kept backing away.
Yes!
The person standing in front was none other than Gu Yao!
Gu Yao raised his hand and gently pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose with his slender fingers.
Behind the glasses, those narrow eyes were now gleaming with a chilling light.
"Let her go."
Zhou Chunhua, who was being strangled and unable to speak, collapsed like a deflated balloon the moment she saw her daughter being helped up by Gu Yao.
The man with the choke on her neck cursed and continued to drag her backward.
Gu Yao helped the two children sit on the ground and approached them again.
"Get away! Don't come any closer! If you come any closer, I'll... I'll..." The man frantically pulled one hand back and reached into his pocket.
The next second, a dagger was pressed against Zhou Chunhua's neck.
"You dare touch her!" Gu Yao roared.
Zhou Chunhua felt the man behind her tremble.
“Do as he says,” she said in a hoarse voice.
"What did you say?"
It was clear that the man who had taken him hostage was completely panicked and disoriented.
This gave Zhou Chunhua more confidence.
She moved her chin: "I can testify for you. These things have nothing to do with you. They were all done by your boss."
As soon as she said that, the man's grip on her arm loosened considerably.
"Cough cough cough..." The sudden rush of air into her mouth and nose irritated her throat, causing her to cough incessantly.
"Hua Hua?" Gu Yao looked at her eagerly.
She shook her head in disbelief.
Gu Yao then stopped in his tracks.
The man behind her stopped dragging her backward.
"Let her go! I'll spare your life!"
"Really? You...you mean it?" The man behind him finally wavered.
Zhou Chunhua quickly chimed in, "These things have nothing to do with you. I can vouch for that, so don't worry."
As soon as she finished speaking, the man slowly loosened his grip on her neck.
Once she could breathe, Zhou Chunhua felt dizzy and her legs went weak, causing her to lose her balance and fall forward.
The next second, she was in someone's arms.
The familiar scent and temperature instantly enveloped her in a sense of security.
"You surnamed Gu! Go to hell!"
A sudden roar came from behind her, and Zhou Chunhua panicked. She pushed off with her feet and stood up.
At that moment, she had only one thought in her mind: Gu Yao must not get into trouble.
So without the slightest hesitation, she chose to shield Gu Yao with her body.
Unexpectedly, the scene before her eyes shifted, and she was turned around in the blink of an eye.
The next second, she saw Gu Yao clenching his teeth in pain.
"Don't worry, I'm here for you."
Immediately after a loud bang, the man who had been holding her hostage fell backward, his eyes wide open and blood seeping from his forehead.
