Chapter 16 Rumors
The translation agency doesn’t start work until nine o’clock. Shen Sangyu was afraid of being late on her first day, so she arrived early.
When she arrived at the translation agency, the door was not open yet.
It was almost nine o’clock when a man in a suit opened the door with a bunch of keys.
After opening the door, he noticed Shen Sangyu and looked her up and down. Then the man in the suit asked, "Are you a newcomer?"
Shen Sangyu didn’t wear a cashmere coat like before. Although the coat looked good, it was a bit too cold in the winter in Beijing.
Today she wore a white cotton jacket, a black base and a long skirt.
This outfit was also particularly bright in the gray crowd, and it was hard for men not to notice it.
Seeing Shen Sangyu nod, the man immediately smiled: "Hello, my name is Mao Jie, I am the president of the translation agency, Director Xu is my uncle, he recommended you to me."
Shen Sangyu didn't expect the boss to be so young, he looked no more than 35 or 36 years old.
"But Director Xu said you are his friend."
Mao Jie was stunned for a moment, then laughed: "Uncle Xu insists on saying that, we are friends regardless of age."
Mao Jie is very talkative, Shen Sangyu then realized that the reason why Xu Weiguo didn't ask Mao Jie to translate that day was because he was out of town and couldn't come back.
There were only four people in the translation agency, including Mao Jie and her, and the other two were not at work because they were translating manuscripts at home.
Shen Sangyu was stunned for a moment: "Can I translate at home?"
Mao Jie nodded: "My translation agency is not so strict. After all, the homes of the other two employees are quite far away. How troublesome it is to go back and forth? Just submit the translation manuscript within the specified time."
Shen Sangyu was overjoyed.
She wanted to make money and do scientific research after the college entrance examination.
But if she worked and prepared for the exam at the same time, even if she was sure, it would be very hard.
But if she could work at home, wouldn't all the problems be solved?
Mao Jie knew that Shen Sangyu was also a little far away from the translation agency: "I will come to work every day. If you choose to translate at home, you only need to come once every half a month... If you have something, it doesn't matter. Ask someone to bring me a message."
Mao Jie trusted the people recommended by Xu Weiguo very much.
This was especially true after he knew that Shen Sangyu had helped Xu Weiguo and Qin Shenghua twice in a row.
Shen Sangyu followed Mao Jie into the office.
The translation agency was about 60 to 70 square meters, surrounded by bookshelves and a few desks in the middle.
Mao Jie: "These are the books my father left behind before he died. If you want to read them, you can borrow them. Just don't damage them."
Shen Sangyu could see that Mao Jie treasured these books, so he nodded.
Mao Jie took out two thick books from the desk: "These are what you need to translate, and you have to finish the translation within three months."
The time was indeed a bit tight.
Translation is not about translating English directly, but about combining the context and expressing it in an appropriate way. This requires great literary skills of the translator.
However, Shen Sangyu glanced at the thickness and said, "No problem."
Mao Jie was relieved.
Shen Sangyu did not leave today, but sat in the office to translate texts.
The translation agency mainly publishes Chinese and English. Now people's minds are slowly being liberated. If it were in the past, these things would have been banned books.
Shen Sangyu translated very quickly. She sat there from nine in the morning to three-thirty in the afternoon. Except for eating and going to the toilet, she sat there to translate.
Mao Jie saw that Shen Sangyu had not even come to discuss with him, so he walked over curiously and took a look.
After flipping through a few pages, his eyes were filled with astonishment: "Comrade Sang Yu, your translation is so good!"
Generally speaking, the translated articles will eventually be reviewed. Mao Jie's family is advanced in thought, and he has been learning bilingual since childhood, so he is very experienced in translation.
But after reading Shen Sang Yu's translation, he felt that even if he translated it himself, it would not be as good as Shen Sang Yu's.
Mao Jie's face flushed with excitement: "Comrade Sang Yu, if you keep this level, I will give you a processing fee!"
Shen Sang Yu: !!!
This boss is better than the previous sponsors, and he is more talkative!
The two chatted about the translation content for a while, and Mao Jie admired Shen Sang Yu more and more.
Shen Sangyu glanced at the big clock at the door of the office and said, "It's getting late, boss, I'm going back first."
Mao Jie still felt a little unsatisfied, but thinking that there would be another chance next time, he nodded.
Shen Sangyu went to Qian Shenghua again to buy a meat and a vegetable, and this time she spent less money.
However, on the way back to the family compound, Shen Sangyu suddenly felt that many people were looking at her, and some people were even pointing at her.
Although she was curious about what these people were talking about, she didn't go up to catch people and ask what happened. As
soon as she walked to the gate of the family compound, Shen Sangyu was stopped by Cao Ruyue.
Cao Ruyue first glanced at her, then glanced at Shen Sangyu, took a deep breath and said, "Sister Sangyu, sister-in-law has something to tell you."
Feeling that Cao Ruyue's tone was a little serious, Shen Sangyu nodded.
She stood at the gate of the family compound and said politely, "Sister
-in-law, please tell me." Cao Ruyue was still a little surprised to feel Shen Sangyu's politeness again, but when she thought of something, she suddenly said earnestly, "Sangyu, sister-in-law wants to ask you, did you have a quarrel with Captain Wen, or did Captain Wen make you angry in some way?"
Shen Sangyu didn't understand.
Wen Qingchuan went out early and came back late these days, and she didn't say anything to Wen Qingchuan. Their daily communication was almost limited to the dinner table.
Thinking of the things that some military wives pointed fingers at her when she came back today, Shen Sangyu narrowed her eyes.
Could it be that someone said something?
She thought so and asked so.
Sure enough, Cao Ruyue nodded, her face was very ugly.
"These past few days, there have been rumors that you had a quarrel with Captain Wen, and then there were rumors that you got out of a rich middle-aged man's car, and then there were rumors that..."
Cao Ruyue paused, and looked at the food that Shen Sangyu had packed back.
Shen Sangyu laughed angrily.
"Some people say that I eat delicious food and drink spicy drinks every day?"
Cao Ruyue stopped talking.
Shen Sangyu's eyes were cold, as if they could turn into swords and kill people in the next second.
The original owner had offended many people, but because of Zhou Xinghua's matter, now everyone's discussion object has become Zhou Xinghua.
She has been busy looking for a job and preparing for the college entrance examination these days.
Who spread the rumor?
Suddenly, a figure emerged from her mind.
Shen Sangyu's fingers quickly clenched, and her heart was full of anger.
She looked at Cao Ruyue and said gratefully, "Thank you sister-in-law for telling me. Wen Qingchuan and I have no conflict. It's just that things are a bit complicated. I'm not sure who did it yet. Please keep an eye on it for me these few days to see if there are any clues."
Cao Ruyue nodded quickly.
After thinking for a while, she said, "Captain Wen also got the news today and has returned home now."
After that, Cao Ruyue was a little worried: "If you have something to say, talk to Captain Wen nicely and don't quarrel with others."
Shen Sangyu was stunned for a moment. She didn't expect that Wen Qingchuan had already returned today.
She nodded and went upstairs quickly.
As soon as she entered the door, she heard Zhou Xinghua's gentle voice: "Brother Qingchuan, sister Sangyu is still immature, you must not blame her."
