Chapter 35: Protecting the Shortcomings

At this point, the elder sister realized that she had been keeping the girl for a long time, and hurriedly said, "Girl, next time you come to the state-owned department store to buy something, just come to me. Tell me what you want and I'll keep it for you. It's hard to keep a rare item like a watch, but everything else is easy to deal with."

"Okay, just call me Yule," Jiang Yule said friendly.

"Okay, just call me Sister Tao. I won't waste your time. Your brothers seem to be looking for you. Don't make them worry."

Jiang Yule looked back and saw Zhou Jialin looking around beside the car. He turned around, said hello to Sister Tao and prepared to leave.

"Yu Le, thank you!" Tao Jie behind him shouted gratefully to Jiang Yu Le's back.

Hearing Tao Jie's voice, Jiang Yule turned back and smiled slightly, then continued to walk away...

"What did she want to talk to you about? Why did she take so long?" Zhou Jialin saw Jiang Yule coming over and took a few steps forward, but his eyes were fixed on the older sister who was jogging back to the state-owned department store with a happy expression on her face.

"It's okay, she saw that my watch was nice and asked me where I bought it."

"That's it?" Zhou Jialin was in disbelief as he glanced at Jiang Yule's wrist. It was the same watch she had worn in Beijing before. Although it looked very expensive, Jiang Yule's parents had a good income before. They would definitely be willing to buy Jiang Yule, an only child, no matter how expensive it was. But just asking about the watch, no matter how expensive it was, was it necessary to pull her to the corner and talk so much so cautiously?

Zhou Jialin said he didn't understand...

"Hey, why are you asking so many questions! Let's go, I'm so hungry, be careful or I'll complain to Aunt An and say you didn't give me food." Jiang Yule saw that Zhou Jialin had no intention of giving up, and he couldn't tell him about selling the watch, so he had to change the subject by making excuses, while pulling on his clothes and walking towards the car.

"Okay, okay, can't I just not ask?" Zhou Jialin said, and then he looked at Jiang Yule with a look of smug joy in his eyes. But Jiang Yule seemed to be in a good mood, and Zhou Jialin had no intention of asking any questions. What he wanted was her safety and happiness, and nothing else mattered.

"What have you been doing?" Jiang Yule had just walked to the car and before she could open her mouth, she heard Zhou Jiashu's question again. After answering one question, there was another one. Jiang Yule said...she was very worried.

"Brother, don't ask anymore. Our little ancestor said he was hungry. If he can't eat anything good, he will go to our respected mother to complain about his injustice." Zhou Jialin narrowed his narrow phoenix eyes at Jiang Yule and said half-jokingly and half-consolingly.

His eyes swept over the two of them. Zhou Jiashu saw the eye-to-eye fight between Zhou Jialin and Jiang Yule and raised his eyebrows slightly. "Then get in the car. Shall we go to the state-owned restaurant to buy some food?"

"Let's walk. It's not far. Let's take a look along the way." Jiang Yule looked at the time. It was still early, so she wanted to look around. She hadn't had a good look around the town since she came here.

"Let's go," Zhou Jiashu locked the car again and pointed in the direction of the State-owned Hotel.

The three of them walked leisurely towards the state-owned restaurant, and walked into all the shops they came across along the way. They didn't buy any big items, but they did buy a lot of small things. What made Jiang Yule happiest was that he bought a lot of brand new stamps at the post office. If I remember correctly, they were all sold at sky-high prices in the future.

Seeing Jiang Yule holding those stacks of stamps and grinning from time to time, Zhou Jialin couldn't help but ask:

"No, Yule, what's so good about this that it can make you so happy?"

"Don't you think they are beautiful?" After saying that, seeing that Zhou Jialin still looked unconvinced, he continued to explain, "I really like collecting these little things. They are very special."

"If there are new styles in Beijing in the future, I will keep an eye out and buy them for you." Zhou Jialin listened to Jiang Yule's words and looked at the stamps carefully, wanting to remember their appearance so that he could buy similar ones for Jiang Yule in the future.

"No, no, I only buy things I like. It's useless to buy too much," Jiang Yule refused. There are only a few types that can be collected. Buying too much is a waste. She doesn't really have this hobby.

This stack of stamps is equivalent to several months' food rations for a family of three. She bought so many, and the Zhou brothers didn't say a word of objection. Instead, because she said she liked them, they wanted to buy every one for her. This kind of unconditional love was very useful to Jiang Yule.

Zhou Jialin wanted to insist. In his opinion, Jiang Yule was always indifferent to everything. It was rare for her to like something, so he had to present it to her early. But seeing that she insisted, he was afraid that Jiang Yule would not like it if he bought it, so he nodded as a promise, thinking in his heart that he would send Jiang Yule more money every month.

The three of them walked all the way to the entrance of the state-owned restaurant, entered the restaurant, and sat down at random. Zhou Jiashu went to queue up to order food, while Zhou Jialin went out to buy soda for Jiang Yule. Only Jiang Yule sat alone, flipping through the stamps he bought one by one, and couldn't let go of them.

As she was flipping through the pages, a greasy voice came to her ears.

"Comrade, can I sit next to you?"

When Jiang Yule frowned and looked over, she saw a fleshy face that was very close to her. The eyes were squeezed into a slit by the flesh on the face. At this moment, he was grinning at her with his big teeth bared. There was a faint unpleasant smell.

Jiang Yule was startled by the sudden approach. He tried to get up and dodge but was tripped by the chair leg and stumbled backwards.

Glancing at the iron frame on the side, Jiang Yule subconsciously protected his head, but his lower back still hit the raised edge of the iron frame. The severe pain made Jiang Yule curl up.

When the fat man saw Jiang Yule fall, he reached out to help her up, but his hand went to Jiang Yule's waist. In such a public place, if Jiang Yule was helped up by him like this, I'm afraid that by tomorrow, she would be drowned by saliva.
