The two ate in silence, occasionally chatting in low voices.
After dinner, Zhou Yanjing sent her to the hospital and left. He had other missions to complete and couldn’t stay any longer.
After being busy all afternoon, Shen Liwu ran into Zhang Damei when she arrived at the family compound. When she saw Shen Liwu, her mouth corners were crooked with smiles.
"Big sister, I heard you guys arrived last night, I didn't expect it to be true."
Shen Liwu smiled and said, "I arrived last night. Sister-in-law, where are you going?"
"I called my kid to eat, but I don't know where he's been hanging around all day."
Zhang Damei couldn't hide the truth. When she thought about what she saw Jiang Wei coming to the family compound a few days ago, she couldn't help but bring it up: "Sister, I have a few words to say and I don't know whether I should say them or not." Zhang Damei slowed down her pace, her eyes flickered, and she seemed a little hesitant.
Shen Liwu stopped, turned to look at her, frowned slightly, "Sister-in-law, just say it if you have something to say."
Zhang Damei rubbed her hands and lowered her voice, "Jiang Wei came just after you returned home a few days ago. She knocked on your door with a box of something unknown. It looked like she was looking for Deputy Head Zhou. I told her that you had returned home, and she left in a huff."
Shen Liwu's face froze slightly. She hadn't come to her to settle the score yet, but she came to her door on her own.
Do you really think there's nothing you can do to her if she has no evidence?
"What does she want to see Zhou Yanjing for?"
Zhang Damei shook her head, apologetically, "I don't know what it was about. She didn't tell me and I didn't ask. But I don't think it was a good thing."
After all, she had given Zhou Yanjing many gifts in the past.
Shen Liwu’s heart sank, but she didn’t show too much emotion. She smiled at Zhang Damei, trying to sound relaxed, "Thank you sister-in-law for telling me this, I understand."
Zhang Damei patted her shoulder and sighed, "Big sister, don't think too much, I just said it casually. Deputy Captain Zhou is so good to you, nothing will happen."
Shen Liwu nodded, forcing a smile, “Yeah, I know.”
After the two said goodbye, Shen Liwu walked alone on the way to her father's house, but Jiang Wei's figure kept appearing in her mind.
She had to find a way to make Jiang Wei confess to kidnapping her, as she didn't have much time.
When Shen Liwu got home, she cooked dinner first. She didn't know when Zhou Yanjing would come, so she cooked more so he could heat it up and eat it.
The sky gradually darkened, and the setting sun outside the window dyed the sky orange. The afterglow shone through the window onto the living room floor, casting a long shadow.
Zhou Yanjing came just after she finished cooking. She thought he would come very late, but the result was unexpected.
"Why don't you wait for me to do it?"
"Why are you here so early?"
They both spoke at the same time, then smiled at each other, and a warm atmosphere filled the air.
"The mission ended early today, so I hurried here." Zhou Yanjing took off his coat and hung it on the hanger at the door. He turned and walked into the kitchen. Seeing the several side dishes on the table, the corners of his mouth rose unconsciously, "Thank you for your hard work, wife."
