Chapter 2 Surgery (2/2)

"Don't disturb her," Zhou Yanjing responded in a low voice, his eyes always fixed on Shen Liwu's actions. His hands clenched slightly.

Shen Liwu stabilized Wu Fen's condition and went to rescue the child first.

“Don’t panic!” Shen Liwu’s voice was cold and firm, and his fingers flexibly checked the child’s mouth and nose to confirm whether there was any foreign object blocking it. Then she laid the child flat on the table, put her palms on his chest, and pressed with appropriate force.

Everyone stood aside, covering their faces with their hands, tears silently flowing through their fingers. "God bless, nothing can happen to this child..."

Zhou Yanjing stood behind Shen Liwu, his eyes fixed on her. He knew that at this moment, he could do nothing but support her silently.

Time passed by second by second, and the room was terribly quiet, with only the sound of Shen Liwu's panting and pressing.

Suddenly, the child's body trembled slightly, as if he suddenly took a breath.

"Alive! The child is alive!" Zhang Damei shouted excitedly, her voice trembling, and she almost jumped up.

Shen Liwu breathed a sigh of relief and continued to check the child's condition, and his breathing gradually stabilized.

"That's great, that's great..." Lin Xiuying wiped her tears and finally a smile appeared on her face.

Zhou Yanjing took a step forward, held Shen Liwu's shoulders, and asked in a low voice: "Are you okay?"

Shen Liwu nodded. Although the sweat on her forehead had not yet dried, her eyes were still firm. "The child is fine for now, but Wu Fen still needs further treatment."

She turned around, walked back to Wu Fen's bed and continued suturing.

When everything was over, Political Commissar Liang was already waiting outside the door. Upon learning that the girl was safe, he sent her to the military hospital.

Shen Liwu and Zhou Yanjing returned to their own courtyard. It was dark and the courtyard was silent. The moonlight shines on the stones, casting dots of silver light. Zhou Yanjing followed behind Shen Liwu, walking slowly, for fear of disturbing her thoughts.

After entering the house, Zhou Yanjing spoke first: "You did a good job today." He paused, with a hint of worry in his tone, "But don't be so stubborn next time."

Shen Liwu raised his eyes to look at him, a hint of fatigue flashed in his eyes, but more of it was determination. "I won't stand by and watch someone die. If it were you, you wouldn't stand by and watch, right?"

Zhou Yanjing was silent for a moment, then nodded slowly, "Yes, I'm worried about you, what if..." He didn't say anything else, but just looked at her deeply.

Shen Liwu took a step closer and looked up into his eyes. "I know what you are worried about, but I can't not do what I should do just because I am afraid of the consequences. Besides, I am not fighting alone. You are behind me. You will support me, right?"

As the night deepens, the cicadas outside the yard chirp one after another, and the breeze blows through the gauze window, bringing a hint of coolness. The dim light in the room shone between the two of them, and the air was filled with an indescribable tension and softness.

Zhou Yanjing's eyes trembled slightly and his Adam's apple rolled, as if something was stuck in his throat and he couldn't say it out. He lowered his eyes and said in a low voice: "Yes, I will always be behind you."

Shen Liwu's eyelashes trembled slightly, and a thin layer of mist appeared in her eyes. She took a deep breath, her fingertips curled slightly, as if she was suppressing some emotion.

She didn't say anything extra, just nodded slightly, and said in a coquettish tone: "I'm hungry, Zhou Yanjing."

She hadn't eaten since she got off the train, and she had an operation, so she was starving.

Zhou Yanjing was stunned, and the tension in his eyes gradually dissipated, replaced by a touch of tenderness.

"I'll go cook you a bowl of noodles." He said, and turned to go to the kitchen.

After a while, he came out again and said, "I'm going to borrow some noodles. You wait for me at home."

He hurried out the door, nothing unusual.

Only he knew how hot his ears were.

What a loser! His wife was just acting like a spoiled child and he got so flustered that he even forgot there was no noodles at home.

He quickly brought back the noodles, and Shen Liwu followed behind him, leaning against the kitchen door frame, watching his busy figure. His movements were smooth and practiced, as if he had rehearsed this scene in his mind countless times. The flames on the stove danced, the water in the pot gradually boiled, and the hot steam rose up, blurring his outline.

She never thought that one day she would watch him cook for her quietly like this. Everything in the previous life seemed like a distant dream. All the avoidance, indifference and misunderstanding seemed so absurd at this moment.

Zhou Yanjing took out a handful of noodles and gently put them into the boiling water. The chopsticks in his hand stirred the water surface, making a slight sound.

Soon, a bowl of steaming noodles was served on the table. Zhou Yanjing pushed the bowl in front of Shen Liwu and said softly, “Eat it while it’s hot, be careful of the heat.”

Shen Liwu nodded, picked up the chopsticks, picked up a mouthful of noodles, blew on it, and put it into his mouth. The aroma of the noodles fills your mouth, and a warm feeling spreads from your stomach to your whole body.

She couldn't help but sigh softly: "It's delicious."

Zhou Yanjing sat opposite her, looking at her tenderly with a slight smile on his lips. At this moment, he felt extremely satisfied, as if all the waiting and suffering were worth it.

Shen Liwu was eating noodles, and suddenly raised his head with a smile in his eyes: "Why are you looking at me? Are you eating?"

Zhou Yanjing shook his head: "I'm not hungry, you eat first."

Shen Liwu put down his chopsticks and said seriously: "Let's eat together. I can't finish so much by myself. But... I've already taken a bite. If you dislike it..." Forget it.

Zhou Yanjing interrupted her immediately, his voice low and firm: "I don't mind. If you can't finish it, I'll eat it. Be obedient and eat quickly. It won't taste good if it clumps together."

"Okay." She thought, they were husband and wife, so it was okay to eat the leftovers.

Zhou Yanjing lowered his head, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his lips. This ordinary interaction is so precious.

I couldn't help but secretly glance at her. Under the light, her profile was soft and quiet, her long eyelashes cast a shadow under her eyes, the tip of her nose was slightly upturned, and there was a little soup on the corner of her lips, making her look a little playful.

“Zhou Yanjing.” Shen Liwu suddenly spoke, her voice soft.

"Hmm?" He looked up and looked at her intently.

"Today's noodles are delicious." She smiled slightly, with a hint of warmth in her eyes, "Thank you."

Zhou Yanjing's heart trembled slightly, as if it was gently touched by something. He looked at her smiling face, his throat tightened a little, and his voice was low: "As long as you like it, I will do it for you every day in the future."

Shen Liwu's smile deepened a few points, "I am your wife. If others knew that you have to cook for me every day after training, they would definitely say that you are a henpecked husband."

Strict wife control?

If she wanted to control him, he would be more than happy to do so.

Zhou Yanjing's eyes dimmed slightly, and his voice was low and gentle: "Whether you can control it or not depends on the person... and his ability."

There was a certain expectation in his words, and his eyes were fixed on her, as if he wanted to take in every subtle expression of hers.

Shen Liwu's fingers paused slightly, the tips of her chopsticks hanging over the edge of the bowl, and the air seemed to freeze at this moment. Her heart skipped a beat, her cheeks heated up slightly, and her ears were tinged with a faint blush. She lowered her head and took a sip of soup.

"Then I have to think carefully about how to control you." Her voice was soft, with a hint of teasing, but also a hint of temptation.

A hint of smile flashed across Zhou Yanjing's eyes, and his voice was deep and magnetic: "I'm at your service anytime."

This time when she came to join the army, she seemed to have changed a lot. At least she was no longer so hostile to herself.

This is a good way.

Shen Liwu couldn’t eat anymore after eating half of it, “I can’t eat anymore.”

Zhou Yanjing looked at the small half bowl of noodles left in her bowl and frowned: "Why did you eat so little? Didn't you say you were hungry just now?"

Shen Liwu chuckled, with a hint of laziness in her voice: "I was hungry just now, but now I feel a little full."

Zhou Yanjing didn't say anything else. He reached out and pulled the bowl in front of her to himself, picked up the chopsticks, picked up the noodles naturally, and started eating. His movements were decisive and decisive, with a soldier's boldness.

Shen Liwu was stunned for a moment, his eyes widened slightly, and then he regained his composure. She sat there quietly, watching him eat up all the noodles in the bowl, leaving not even a drop of soup.

Zhou Yanjing put down the bowl, looked up at her, and said frankly: "It's shameful to waste food. If you can't finish it in the future, put it away and I will come back to eat it."
