The little boy turned around and smiled at her, revealing a row of neat teeth. "It's just ahead, we'll be there soon." After he said that, he quickened his pace and ran forward.
Shen Liwu suddenly realized that something was wrong. How did he know that he could cure diseases and why did he choose him for help?
Shen Liwu shuddered and turned around, but as soon as he turned around, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head, and the world in front of him suddenly twisted, and darkness surged in like a tide.
Her legs softened uncontrollably and she fell heavily to the ground. While she was conscious, she vaguely heard footsteps coming from afar, rapid and chaotic, as if someone was chasing something.
"Hurry up! Drag her in!" A rough male voice growled with a hint of impatience.
Shen Liwu moved her fingers slightly, trying to grab something, but her strength had been drained by the pain. She could only let herself be dragged forward by a pair of rough hands, and then she remembered nothing.
…
It was getting dark, Xu Dong went to the cafeteria to eat and came back to find that the lights at home were not on. He pushed the door open and found that Shen Liwu had not returned home yet.
But it’s dark now, why hasn’t my aunt come back yet?
Xu Dong ran out to Zhang Damei's house and asked as soon as he saw her: "Aunt Zhang, my aunt hasn't come home yet. Where did she go? Won't she be back later?"
Zhang Damei was busy washing vegetables. She turned around when she heard the sound, holding a white radish covered with water droplets in her hand.
She wiped her hands on her apron and frowned slightly. "Your aunt hasn't come back yet? That shouldn't be the case. She should have been home by now."
Xu Dong stood at the door, his little hands tightly gripping the door frame, his eyes staring at Zhang Damei, a hint of anxiety on his face.
"I don't know, Aunt Zhang. No one was home when I came back."
Zhang Damei put down the carrot in her hand, walked over, squatted down, and gently patted Xu Dong's shoulder, "Don't worry, Auntie may be delayed by something. Let's wait a little longer, maybe she will be back soon."
Xu Dong pursed his lips, a hint of uneasiness in his eyes, and asked him not to ask any more questions.
He returned home alone, and after waiting for half an hour, Shen Liwu still didn't come back, so he ran out in the dark.
Xu Dong ran to the entrance of the army, but two sentries stopped him.
Xu Dong stood breathlessly at the gate of the army, with a layer of fine beads of sweat on his forehead. The night wind blew over, bringing a hint of coolness, making his back feel tight. He looked up at the two tall sentries, and his throat seemed to be blocked by something, so he couldn't speak for a while.
"Little friend, this is a military stronghold, you cannot trespass here." One of the sentries leaned forward slightly, his tone was serious but gentle.
Xu Dong swallowed his saliva, took a few breaths, and finally squeezed out a sentence: "Uncle, I'm here to look for my uncle. My aunt hasn't come home yet. I... I can't find her."
The sentry frowned, his eyes showing a hint of concern: "Who is your uncle?"
"Zhou Yanjing." Xu Dong's voice was trembling, and his eyes were slightly red. "He is a soldier here."
The sentries looked at each other and one of them ran in immediately. Not long after, Zhou Yanjing's figure quickly emerged from inside. He was wearing a dark green military jacket, his face was solemn and his brows were filled with anxiety.
"Xu Dong?" Zhou Yanjing took a few steps to Xu Dong, squatted down, and held his shoulders with both hands. "What's going on? What happened to your aunt?"
Xu Dong's eyes suddenly turned red, and his voice was filled with tears: "Uncle, Auntie hasn't come home yet. I've been waiting for a long time, and it's already dark, but she still hasn't come back."
Zhou Yanjing's face darkened instantly, and a cold light flashed in his eyes.
He stood up, turned around and whispered something to the sentry behind him, speaking quickly and with an unquestionable commanding tone, "Watch him, I'll make a phone call."
