Shen Liwu cooked for three people. The fish had been killed. Shen Liwu skillfully cleaned the fish and cut it into thin slices. The blade turned flexibly in her hands, and the texture of the fish meat was clearly visible.
Her fingers were stained with the salty smell of fish, but she didn't care and focused on arranging the fish meat neatly.
Calculating that Zhou Yanjing would be back soon, she cleaned the pot and poured in oil. When the oil temperature rose, she threw in a few peppercorns and dried chilies. The pot immediately began to crackle and a rich aroma filled the air.

"Sister-in-law, I'm here to have a free meal." Bai Jingnan shook the bottle of wine in his hand with a relaxed tone.
"Come in, the meal will be ready soon." Shen Liwu stepped aside to let him in, took the bottle of wine from his hand, turned around and walked into the kitchen.
Bai Jingnan looked around and asked, "Brother Jing hasn't come back yet?"
"Maybe he was delayed by something." Shen Liwu's voice came from the kitchen, with a hint of imperceptible worry. She put the bottle on the table and continued to work.
Bai Jingnan had just sat down on the sofa when the yard door was pushed open and Zhou Yanjing walked in.
"Are you back?" Shen Liwu poked her head out from the kitchen with a happy smile on her face and her eyes sparkling, as if the stars that had been waiting for a long time had finally found their home.
"Yeah, I'm back." Zhou Yanjing's voice sounded a little tired, but his eyes softened instantly the moment he saw Shen Liwu.
He reached out and ruffled her hair, with a hint of apology in his tone, "Sorry, I was a little busy today and was delayed."
"It's okay, the food is just ready, go wash your hands." Shen Liwu pushed him to the bathroom, unable to hide the smile on his lips.
Bai Jingnan stood up from the sofa and waved at Zhou Yanjing, "Brother Jing, I finally waited for you. If you didn't come back, your sister-in-law would be waiting for you."
Zhou Yanjing glanced at him, and a faint arc appeared on the corner of his mouth, "You are here early."
"Of course, I can't miss my sister-in-law's cooking skills." Bai Jingnan smiled and rubbed his hands, looking impatient.
After the three of them sat down, the hot pot on the table was boiling and the aroma was overflowing. Shen Liwu picked up a piece of fish fillet and put it into Zhou Yanjing's bowl, and said softly: "Try it, I remember you like spicy food."
Zhou Yanjing looked down at the fish slices in the bowl, his eyebrows slightly raised, and said with a hint of teasing, "Thank you, wife. Thank you, wife, for remembering me."
"Of course." Shen Liwu pursed her lips and smiled, with a bit of pride in her eyes, "If you don't even know this, then wouldn't I be too derelict in my duty as a daughter-in-law?"
Bai Jingnan interrupted and said, "Sister-in-law, your cooking skills are amazing. The fish fillets are so tender that they pop in your mouth. They're much better than those in restaurants outside!" As he spoke, he picked up another large piece of fish fillet with chopsticks, dipped it in the sauce, stuffed it into his mouth, and chewed it with satisfaction.
Zhou Yanjing looked at Bai Jingnan wolfing down his food and couldn't help but tease him, "Look at you, eat slowly, no one will snatch the food from you."
Bai Jingnan chewed the fish slices while mumbling, "Brother Jing, you don't know, I've been so busy lately that I don't have time to eat properly. Today I finally got the chance, I have to make up for it."
Zhou Yanjing gnashed his teeth and said, "You're lucky."
Shen Liwu watched the two bickering and couldn't help laughing out loud, with the corners of his eyes curved into crescent shapes.
After finishing the meal, Shen Liwu was about to clean up the dishes but was stopped by Zhou Yanjing, "You go and take a rest, we will clean up."
