Chapter 77 Returning Home (2/2)

The two walked along the road. The dirt road in the village was not smooth, and occasionally they could hear the sounds of chickens crowing and dogs barking in the distance.

The early morning sunlight shines through the sparse branches onto the ground, casting a mottled light and shadow. The air is filled with the scent of earth and grass, fresh and rich.

Shen Liwu walked beside Zhou Yanjing, his steps were a little hesitant, and his eyes glanced around from time to time. Most of the houses here are mud houses. Occasionally, a few black chickens would leisurely forage for food on the roadside. They would not panic when they saw strangers, but would just take a few steps away.

"Are you nervous?" Zhou Yanjing turned his head to look at her, with a hint of concern in his eyes.

Shen Liwu shook her head, the corners of her mouth slightly raised, "It's okay, I just think it's quite fresh."

Zhou Yanjing chuckled and held her hand a little tighter, "Don't be afraid, my family is easy to get along with."

After walking for about ten minutes, they came to a house covered with red bricks. The yard was not big, but it was very clean.

"Mom, we're back." Zhou Yanjing pushed open the gate and spoke in a loud voice.

There was a sound of hurried footsteps in the room, and then a middle-aged woman walked out of the room with a smile on her face.

"Yan Jing..."

Zhou Li's voice stopped abruptly, his gaze fell on Chen Liwu, a hint of surprise and relief flashed in his eyes.

"Li Wu? Come in quickly, come in quickly!"

Shen Liwu smiled and nodded, calling "Mom" softly.

Zhou Qi hurried forward, took her hand, looked her up and down, and nodded with satisfaction, "Why did you come back so suddenly? You didn't even tell your family to pick you up, and why did you bring so many things? We already have them at home."

Zhou Li took Shen Liwu's hand and walked into the house, completely leaving Zhou Yanjing aside.

Zhou Yanjing: “…”

At least help him pick up the things!

Zhou Yanjing shook his head helplessly, carrying his bags and following him into the house. The room is brightly lit, with simple but tidy furnishings. There are a few yellowed photos hanging on the wall, recording every detail of this family.

Shen Liwu was somewhat overwhelmed by Zhou Li's enthusiasm, with a polite smile on her face, but she felt a little uneasy in her heart.

She glanced at Zhou Yanjing secretly, and seeing him looking at her with a smile on his face, she felt a little relieved.

"Mom, don't be so excited. You'll scare Wuwu." Zhou Yanjing put down his things and said with a smile.

Zhou Li then realized that he might have lost his composure and smiled sheepishly, "Hey, look how happy I am, Wuwu, don't mind it. Come on, sit down and rest for a while, I'll go get you some water."

"It's not a big deal, Mom." Shen Liwu said quickly.

"No trouble, no trouble." Zhou Li waved his hand and turned into the kitchen.

Zhou Yanjing pulled Shen Liwu to sit on the wooden chair and whispered, “My mother is like this, don’t be nervous, she likes you very much.”

Shen Liwu nodded, feeling warm in her heart. She looked around and her eyes fell on the photos on the wall, one of which was a family photo of Zhou Yanjing when he was a child. The boy in the photo has delicate features and a bright, silly smile.

"What are you looking at?" Zhou Yanjing followed her gaze and said with a smile, "That's a photo of me when I was a child. Isn't it very cute?"

Shen Liwu couldn't help laughing, "Vincent."
