Chapter 78 You are so handsome now (2/2)

Zhou Yanjing pulled Shen Liwu's hand and motioned her to sit down, "Don't bother, my mother likes to toss around, just let her do it."

She glared at Zhou Yanjing and said, "You are the one who likes to make trouble."

Shen Liwu sat down, and his eyes involuntarily fell on the photos on the wall again. That family photo still attracted her attention, especially Zhou Yanjing's childhood appearance, which looked cute no matter how she looked at it.

"Do you particularly like this photo?" Zhou Yanjing noticed her gaze and asked with a smile.

“Well, you were so cute when you were a child.” Shen Liwu nodded and couldn’t help laughing.

"So you think I'm not cute now?"

"You are more than just cute now." Shen Liwu narrowed his eyes, deliberately dragged out the tone, with a sly smile in the corners of his eyes, "You are so handsome now."

Zhou Yanjing chuckled and ruffled her hair. "You are getting better and better at saying sweet things."

Shen Liwu curled her lips and reached out to knock his hand away, "Don't make a move, my parents are still in the kitchen."

"Mom and Dad are busy and can't take care of us."

They wouldn't be so inconsiderate. They were probably hiding and eavesdropping.

In the kitchen, Zhou's mother hid behind the door and heard the two people flirting. The stone in her heart finally fell to the ground. She was worried that her son would not be able to adapt to the rural life after marrying Shen Liwu, but now it seems that she was worrying too much.

She looked back at Zhou's father who was busy, and said in a low voice: "Old man, did you hear that? Our son and daughter-in-law have a really good relationship."

Father Zhou paused for a moment, a smile showing on his face, "I heard you, young people are just like that." After saying that, he continued to peel the onions and garlic in his hands with quick movements.

In the yard, a few chickens were strolling leisurely, occasionally pecking at the grains on the ground. As the sun gradually rose higher, the air was filled with a faint smell of cooking smoke, mixed with the aroma of food, which aroused people's appetite.

The kitchen had two doors. Father and Mother Zhou went out from the other door to catch chickens. Mother Zhou held a handful of golden corn kernels in her hand and scattered them on the open space in the yard.

Several fat hens came over hearing the sound, clucking and scrambling to peck at the corn kernels on the ground. Father Zhou walked quietly around, staring intently at a pheasant with the brightest feathers.

The rooster held its head high and chest puffed out, seemingly unaware of the approaching danger. It lowered its head and pecked at a few grains of corn, then suddenly raised its head and looked around alertly, with its wings slightly spread, as if ready to take off at any time.

Father Zhou moved very quickly. When the rooster lowered its head, he pounced forward and grabbed its wings tightly with his hands like iron pliers. The rooster struggled a few times and let out a sharp cry, but was quickly firmly controlled by Zhou's father.

"Caught!" Zhou's father breathed a sigh of relief, a smug smile on his face.

Zhou's mother looked at her husband with a smile, "You are really good. This chicken is the fattest, and it will definitely be delicious when stewed in soup."

She turned and went into the kitchen, took out a large wooden basin, and began to boil water to scald the chicken. Zhou's father skillfully carried the rooster into the kitchen and killed it in a swift and efficient motion.

Shen Liwu heard the noise coming from the yard and looked at Zhou Yanjing, "Is it true that we don't want to help?"

"No, I'll show you our room." Zhou Yanjing stood up, stretched out his hand to hold Shen Liwu, and gently pulled her up.

Shen Liwu's fingers tightened slightly in his palm, and she followed his footsteps, walked through the main room, and headed towards the bedroom inside. The room is not big, but it is warmly and tidyly decorated. There is an old-fashioned table lamp on the bedside table, and the sunlight outside the window illuminates the entire room.

The "囍" character in the room had not been removed, and the quilt was still a big red floral quilt.

Shen Liwu looked around and suddenly regretted why she didn't come back here to hold the wedding banquet.

He carefully prepared the bedroom, decorating it with all the decorations she liked. The air in the room had a hint of old smell, mixed with the fragrance of wooden furniture, as if it was the smell of years.

Chen Liwu stood beside the bed, her fingers gently stroking the large bright red floral quilt, which felt soft and slightly cool.
