Chapter 90 Broken Bones (2/2)

Shen Liwu shook her head, "That's enough, drinking too much will make you sick." She put the bowl on the bedside table and turned her eyes to the window.

At this moment, a hurried shout came from the yard:

"Uncle Zhou, has Yan Jing come back? Uncle Jiu went hunting in the mountains and was bitten on the arm by a wolf. Yan Jing is a soldier, does he know how to give first aid? Uncle Jiu's hand has been bleeding and he is almost dying."

As soon as the voice in the courtyard fell, Zhou Yanjing's expression suddenly became solemn. He stood up abruptly, the tenderness in his eyes faded away, replaced by the determination and calmness of a soldier. He wiped his hands on his trouser legs, as if to temporarily erase the brief warmth.

"I'll go take a look." He walked quickly to the door, his steps steady and powerful, and his military boots made a dull sound on the floor.

"I'll go too, you take my needle bag." Shen Liwu stood up and wanted to go together.

Zhou Yanjing looked back at her. Indeed, she was a doctor and had the ability to save lives.

But she was pregnant.

After some thought, she nodded and turned back to pick up her needle bag.

Zhou Yanjing took Shen Liwu’s hand and strode into the yard. The villagers stood at the door with anxious faces, beads of sweat oozing from their foreheads, their eyes full of expectations for help.

Zhou Yanjing didn't ask any more questions, but nodded directly: "Lead the way, I'll go take a look."

The villager quickly turned around and trotted to lead the way, with Zhou Yanjing following closely behind, leaving shallow footprints in the mud under their feet. The sun was scorching the earth, and the air was filled with a burning smell.

Not long after, Zhou Yanjing saw Uncle Jiu lying on a bamboo mat. The old man's arms were covered in blood, and the blood had seeped through the cloth wrapped around them. His face was as pale as paper, and his breathing was weak and unstable. The surrounding villagers gathered in a circle, looking at the man anxiously and helplessly. When they saw Zhou Yanjing coming, they all made way for him.

"Yan Jing is here, hurry up and save Uncle Jiu!" The villagers shouted in unison, their voices full of hope.

Zhou Yanjing squatted down, quickly untied the cloth wrapped around the wound, and carefully observed the condition of the wound. His brows were furrowed, and he said in a deep voice: "The wound is very deep, and the blood loss is too much. We need to stop the bleeding as soon as possible. I don't know if your bones are okay."

Shen Liwu walked up from behind him, opened the needle bag, and took out the silver needle and sterilized gauze. Her movements were skillful and calm. Although beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, her eyes remained focused and calm.

She gently pushed Zhou Yanjing's hand away and whispered, "I'll do it."

Zhou Yanjing stepped aside, his eyes fixed on her movements. Shen Liwu first used silver needles to seal several acupuncture points of Uncle Jiu to slow down the blood flow, and then quickly used sterilized gauze to clean the wound. Her fingers were slender and dexterous, and every movement was precise.

"Help me hold his shoulders." She said to Zhou Yanjing.

Zhou Yanjing did as he was told and held Uncle Jiu's shoulders firmly with both hands to prevent him from struggling in the pain.

She examined it carefully, her brows furrowed.

"How is it?" Zhou Yanjing asked.

"The bleeding has stopped, but his bones were broken by the wolf's claws. It's a comminuted fracture and he needs surgery."

When the villagers nearby heard this, their faces turned pale immediately, and they rubbed their hands helplessly, with deep fear and helplessness in their eyes.

“What should we do? Uncle Jiu is old and can’t stand the hard work…” the villager murmured to himself, his voice choked with sobs.

Zhou Yanjing frowned, his eyes lingered on Uncle Jiu's pale face for a moment, then turned to Shen Liwu, "Can it be treated here? Or do we have to send him to the hospital?"
