Chapter 191 Losing Consciousness Again

Shen Min suggested, "Since we're safe here, why don't we go together?"

Shen Min was also worried about letting her daughter and son-in-law go somewhere else late at night.

Having more people around makes it easier to look after each other.

Lu Jingnian thought for a moment and nodded.

"Let's go together then. If things are done quickly, we can go back to City A tonight."

"Won't this make you too tired?"

Jiang Yue looked at Lu Jingnian with concern. She had already heard from Shen Min that Lu Jingnian had driven here overnight, having not rested for a day and a night before.

His injuries had only recently healed, and his body definitely wouldn't be able to handle this.

"It's okay, I can get some rest when I get back."

Lu Jingnian raised his hand and ruffled Jiang Yue's hair.

His wife still loves him the most.

They hadn't brought anything with them, so they had nothing to pack. After saying goodbye to Master Qing, Lu Jingnian drove away with Jiang Yue and the others.

More than an hour later, Lu Jingnian finally drove to the Taoist temple that Master Qing had written on the paper.

The Taoist temple was very small and looked dilapidated, like a dangerous building that had been neglected for many years. Otherwise, Lu Jingnian would not have spent nearly half an hour searching for it.

It's already 11 p.m.

The Taoist temple has been closed for a long time.

Lu Jingnian parked the car and told Shen Min and the others to stay in the car while he went to knock on the door.

Jiang Yue immediately followed him out of the car.

"Didn't I tell you to wait in the car?"

Seeing his wife get out of the car, Lu Jingnian's tone was clearly disapproving. It was already late autumn, and it was going to snow in a few days. It was very cold outside at night.

Lu Jingnian was worried that Jiang Yue might get cold, as he didn't know when someone would come to open the door.

"I'll stay with you."

Jiang Yue ignored him and took his arm, walking towards the entrance of the Taoist temple.

"Let's hurry and knock on the door. It's so late, I wonder if the Taoist priest is asleep yet?"

Upon reaching the entrance of the Taoist temple, Jiang Yue didn't even need Lu Jingnian to do anything; she started knocking on the door herself.

There were two iron rings on the door, and Jiang Yue pressed them hard.

After waiting for about three or four minutes, there was finally movement coming from inside the door.

"Who's up so late at night, disturbing my peaceful sleep?"

The person inside sounded somewhat impatient.

"Master, we were introduced by Master Liaoqing. We have something we'd like to ask for your help with," Jiang Yue said to the people inside with great sincerity.

When asking someone for a favor, you should of course show sincerity.

First and foremost, you must have a good attitude.

"You were introduced by Master Liaoqing?"

Upon hearing Qing's name, the other person finally reached out and opened the door.

When the door opened, Jiang Yue and Lu Jingnian saw an old Taoist priest dressed in tattered clothes standing impatiently at the door, tilting his head to look at them.

"That's interesting."

The old Taoist priest's initially impatient face immediately lit up with interest upon seeing Jiang Yue and Lu Jingnian.

"One has two conflicting souls, and the other is a short-lived ghost. What are you doing here looking for me in the middle of the night?"

"What short-lived ghost?"

The two souls clashed; Jiang Yue knew this referred to her, but she was destined for a short life…

Before Jiang Yue could ask any more questions, Lu Jingnian said, "Greetings, Daoist Master. We were introduced by Master Liaoqing. My name is Lu Jingnian, and this is my wife, Jiang Yue."

"Since you've already discerned that my wife's two souls are in conflict, do you have any way to help her resolve this?"

"As long as you can help us, please name your conditions and I will definitely do it."

Asking for help always comes at a price.

Lu Jingnian knew this better than anyone else.

The old Taoist priest gave Lu Jingnian a serious look this time. "His attitude is not bad."

After saying that, the old Taoist priest opened the door. "Alright, come in."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jingnian was overjoyed. The old Taoist priest letting them in meant that he had a way to help Jiang Yue.

Soon, Yao Hua and Shen Min also got out of the car and followed them into the Taoist temple.

This Taoist temple looks dilapidated from the outside, and even more so from the inside.

Apart from the well-preserved statues of the Three Pure Ones, the rest of the place was dilapidated, and even the table was missing a leg.

"I'm sorry, the place is a bit basic, please bear with us."

Jiang Yue smiled and said, "The Daoist Master is clearly a hermit who doesn't care about such worldly possessions."

"You're quite the smooth talker, aren't you?"

The old Taoist priest sat on a futon to the side and smiled when he heard Jiang Yue's words.

While Jiang Yue was talking to the Taoist priest, Lu Jingnian found some tools and repaired the chairs and tables in the room.

After Lu Jingnian repaired the last stool in the room, he boiled some water and poured a cup for the old Taoist priest. He originally wanted to pour tea, but he couldn't find any.

"Little girl, you have excellent taste; you've found a wonderful man."

The old Taoist priest drank water while praising Lu Jingnian.

This kid started working as soon as he came in, all to curry favor with him and get his help to save Jiang Yue.

"Master, you're mistaken. It's not that I have good taste, it's that my husband is good."

As Jiang Yue spoke, she handed the clean water glass to Lu Jingnian.

He's been busy for a while now and hasn't even had a sip of water.

The old Taoist priest smiled as he watched this scene. "It's getting late. Your matter can't be resolved tonight. There are two guest rooms nearby. You should go and rest."

"I will help this girl stabilize her soul first thing tomorrow morning."

After saying that, the old Taoist priest lay down on the prayer mat and fell asleep.

Strangely enough, there was no fire or heating in the room, and the windows were drafty, but I didn't feel cold at all after entering.

"Since the Taoist priest is resting, let's not disturb him for now."

Lu Jingnian put down his water glass and went out first.

Jiang Yue had originally wanted to ask the old Taoist priest what he meant by "short-lived ghost," but now it seemed she had no chance.

"Mom, let's go and rest first."

Jiang Yue stood up and helped Shen Min walk outside.

The old Taoist priest's place didn't even have a bed, but the side room was very clean, with a bed and blankets.

Jiang Yue and Lu Jingnian shared a room, while Yao Hua and Shen Min shared a room.

After being unconscious for two days, Jiang Yue thought she wouldn't be able to sleep, but when she lay down on the bed, she suddenly felt very sleepy.

This feeling is exactly like how I felt when I was about to fall asleep that day.

Jiang Yue felt a little panicked and tried desperately to open her eyes, but her eyelids felt like they were weighed down by a thousand pounds, and no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't open them.

But Lu Jingnian, who was beside her, seemed not to notice anything amiss, which made Jiang Yue's heart sink deeper and deeper.

"Lu Jingnian...Lu Jingnian..."

Jiang Yue tried to call out to Lu Jingnian, but couldn't make a sound!

Jiang Yue quickly lost consciousness.

"Yueyue?"

Lu Jingnian called her twice, and after confirming that she was asleep, he got up and went out.

Outside, the old Taoist priest, who had been sleeping, was now standing in the courtyard, looking up at the moon in the sky.

"You're a smart kid."

Upon seeing Lu Jingnian emerge, the old Taoist priest curled his lips into a smile…
