Chapter 31 Uncle is Here

Jiang Yue: "..." Is this person drunk or not?

Lu Jingnian wouldn't listen to the truth, so Jiang Yue could only coax him, "Okay, okay, I'll keep lying to you."

Upon hearing the answer he wanted, Lu Jingnian smiled happily, like a child who had received candy.

He doesn't usually smile much, but when he does, he looks really good.

"Knock knock knock!"

Outside, Jiang Xue's knocking on the door sounded urgent. "Sister, what are you doing in there? My brother asked me to bring you some hangover soup. Open the door quickly!"

"Okay, I'll be right there."

Jiang Yue pushed Lu Jingnian onto the bed, kissed him on the cheek, and quickly covered him with the blanket. "Stop making a fuss and go to sleep."

Lu Jingnian didn't sleep; he just stared at her.

Jiang Yue ignored him and quickly went to open the door.

Outside the door, Jiang Xue, carrying a bowl of hangover soup, pressed his ear against the door like a thief. Jiang Yue suddenly opened the door, and Jiang Xue, caught off guard, almost fell.

What are you doing?

Jiang Yue reacted quickly and helped the person up.

"It's nothing. I just thought that Lu Jingnian, that beggar, was bullying you because you didn't open the door for a long time."

"Jiang Xue, who taught you to say those words just now?"

Jiang Yue raised her hand, grabbed Jiang Xue's ear, and twisted it hard.

Jiang Xue has excellent academic performance, but he clearly lacks emotional intelligence and has a lot of bad habits.

"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!"

Jiang Xue was in so much pain he was about to cry, but since it was his sister who had pinched him, he didn't dare to fight back. "Sister, please let go of me. You're the one who taught me to say that to Lu Jingnian."

Jiang Yue: "..." This is truly a terrible thing.

Jiang Yue released Jiang Xue, took the hangover soup from his hand, and said to him seriously, "I was ignorant before, but you are not allowed to talk about Lu Jingnian like that in the future."

He's your brother-in-law now, remember that?

Jiang Xue looked at Jiang Yue as if he had seen a ghost, "Sister, what did you say? You admit that he is my brother-in-law?"

"Don't you like Hengzhi?"

"I don't like it anymore."

Jiang Yue brought in the hangover soup and saw that Lu Jingnian had sat up in bed at some point, hugging the quilt and staring at her without blinking, looking even more aggrieved than before.

Jiang Yue suddenly felt a headache.

Jiang Xue followed him in and saw Lu Jingnian sitting on the bed shirtless, hugging a blanket, looking pitiful like an abandoned puppy. Jiang Xue's eyes widened in surprise.

This man used to come to my house and always had a cold face, scaring me like a living devil. I never expected him to be like this in bed.

"Sister, how did you train him to be like this?" Jiang Xue looked at Jiang Yue with admiration.

Little brother, what inappropriate and lewd words are you saying?

Jiang Yue tested the temperature of the hangover soup, and it was just right to drink.

She handed it to Lu Jingnian, saying, "Drink the hangover soup."

Lu Jingnian obediently took it, drank it in a few gulps, and then continued to stare longingly at Jiang Yue.

Jiang Xue was full of surprise. He climbed onto the bed and looked closely at Lu Jingnian, then cheekily ordered Lu Jingnian, "Lu Jingnian, call me brother."

The next second, a pig-like scream rang out in Jiang Yue's room.

Lu Jingnian grabbed Jiang Xue by the ear and threw him off the bed.

Jiang Xue felt extremely wronged and pointed at the culprit on the bed to complain to Jiang Yue, "Sister, he was faking it. He almost twisted my ear off just now."

"You deserve it."

Jiang Yue rolled her eyes speechlessly, walked over and kicked Jiang Xue, who was lying on the ground refusing to get up. "He's your brother-in-law. You want him to call you 'brother'? What am I supposed to call you then?"

Could this kid have bought all those academic achievements?

How did someone with that level of intelligence become the top scorer in City A?

"Sis, I'm your own brother. Lu Jingnian twisted my ear, and instead of standing up for me, you even helped him hit me. Are you abandoning your cute and handsome brother?"

Jiang Xue felt extremely wronged.

Lu Jingnian gave him a disdainful look and continued to stare longingly at Jiang Yue.

Jiang Yue pulled Jiang Xue up from the ground and patted off imaginary dirt from his body. "Stop howling. Go downstairs and wait for me. Come with me to run some errands later. Call your older brother too."

Jiang Yue thought that Pei Hengzhi would bring the motorcycle over as soon as he returned, but she didn't expect to see the motorcycle yet. It seems that she will have to go and ask for it herself.

Jiang Yue can't ride a motorcycle, Jiang Xue certainly can't either, and Lu Jingnian is definitely not reliable in his current state, so they can only ask Jiang Zheng for help.

"oh."

Hearing that his sister had something to do, Jiang Xue obediently left.

Jiang Yue felt that her younger brother had gone astray, but not completely, and that he could be corrected.

After seeing Jiang Xue off, Jiang Yue turned around and saw Lu Jingnian getting dressed.

Why are you getting dressed?

"I'll go out with you."

Lu Jingnian said that he had indeed drunk too much, but even when drunk, he could still maintain a sliver of sobriety. He understood that Jiang Yue wanted to go out, and he had to follow her.

"You've had too much to drink, you need to go to sleep."

Jiang Yue pressed down on his hand that was holding his coat. "I'm just going to get the motorcycle back. Jiang Xue and my older brother are with me, so I won't suffer any losses in the compound."

Be a good girl and go to sleep.

Lu Jingnian remained silent and stubbornly continued dressing. Jiang Yue tried to stop him, but a drop of warm water suddenly fell onto the back of her hand. Jiang Yue froze, looking at Lu Jingnian in astonishment.

Lu Jingnian actually cried.

"Lu Jingnian, don't cry."

If Jiang Yue had known Lu Jingnian would cry when drunk, she would never have let him drink.

Are you going to abandon me too?

Like when he was a child, his parents said they would come back soon, but they left him and never came back.

His second uncle took him in and started beating, scolding, and abusing him. At first, Lu Jingnian always cried and hoped that his parents would come back and that someone who would not beat or scold him would come and take him away.

But no, gradually Lu Jingnian stopped crying.

Later, he met Jiang Zhenguo, who funded his studies and taught him about responsibility and how to be a good person, but never interfered with Lu Jingnian's life.

Jiang Yue is like a lifeline that Lu Jingnian suddenly grabbed when he was struggling in the midst of a drowning life. Even though he knows that this lifeline may not be able to save him, it still gives him hope and makes him reluctant to let go.

Lu Jingnian looked at Jiang Yue, tears falling drop by drop onto the back of Jiang Yue's hand, "Promise me you'll keep lying to me."

"Won't."

Jiang Yue tried to comfort Lu Jingnian helplessly, "I won't abandon you, Lu Jingnian, don't cry."

"If you want to go, I'll take you, okay?"

With Jiang Zheng around and Lu Jingnian being obedient, nothing will happen to us.

Jiang Yue helped Lu Jingnian get dressed, then wiped his face with a towel. After making sure she couldn't tell he had been crying, she took Lu Jingnian's hand and led him downstairs.
