Commissar Yu took the bag from Yao Hua's hand and carried it for her. He then turned and greeted Xu Cuilan with a smile, "Auntie, I'll take Hua Hua back first. I'll come to visit again in a few days when Uncle returns."
"Okay, okay, Auntie will be waiting for you at home."
Xu Cuilan smiled so broadly her eyes almost disappeared, and happily saw Political Commissar Yu out.
Once they were in the car, Yao Hua couldn't help but ask Political Commissar Yu, "What did you and my mother talk about? How did she become like that?"
"It's nothing. I just told her about my identity, and she felt that having a son-in-law like me would be more beneficial, so that's all."
Commissar Yu spoke lightly, but Yao Hua wasn't really stupid. She knew that Commissar Yu must have done something else. Yao Hua knew her mother, Xu Cuilan, too well. Xu Cuilan had raised her all these years just to sell her for a good price. She would never compromise without some benefit.
"Thank you."
Yao Hua stared intently at Political Commissar Yu.
Commissar Yu drove the car out of the compound and parked it on the side of the road. He turned to look at Yao Hua and said, "You are my fiancée now. Protecting you is what I should do. Hua Hua, if you insist on being so polite with me, it will only make me feel that you don't like me. It will make me feel that you are only doing this because I helped you and you want to repay me."
But remember, I don't need your repayment; all I want is your approval.
He was different from Lu Jingnian. Lu Jingnian only got married to repay Chief Jiang's kindness. He had no yearning for love and didn't even care about his own life or death.
Political Commissar Yu, however, is different. The reason he hasn't married for so many years is because he believes in love and wants to find someone he likes who also likes him.
However, Yao Hua kept thanking him along the way, which made Political Commissar Yu feel that Yao Hua did not like him, but only regarded him as a lifeline, and wanted to marry him because she was grateful to him.
This is not what Political Commissar Yu wanted.
“We still have a month before we can get our marriage certificate. You can use this month to think carefully about whether you want to be with me because you like me or because you want to repay me. If it's the latter, then we don't need to get the certificate. For Lao Lu and his wife's sake, I will help you get rid of your family, but you don't need to sacrifice your marriage.”
