Chapter 55 You are not allowed to enter the room at night

The next morning, Lu Lin and Qi Xiangrong went to the art troupe office together to report.

There were already several people sitting in the office, probably the ones who were performing the drama with them.

Lu Lin didn't look carefully and just found a seat to sit down.

Qi Xiangrong looked around, nudged Lu Lin with his elbow, and signaled Lu Lin to look to the left with his eyes.

Lu Lin looked to the left and found He Qiuya sitting not far from them, also looking at him.

Qi Xiangrong leaned close to Lu Lin's ear and said, "This is strange. Why is she everywhere?"

Lu Lin didn't think much about it. "He's from the art troupe. Maybe it's just a coincidence."

Qi Xiangrong didn't mean anything else, he just felt that he had seen He Qiuya much more often in the past few days than before, as if she was appearing in front of them every day.

After a while, Director Yao from the art troupe came in with a thick stack of papers in his hand.

"Come, let's distribute the script to everyone first, and then we can talk about this play."

Minister Yao gave the script to a female soldier closest to the door and asked her to pass it around.

"Oh, yes, this time we also have a deputy regimental commander and battalion commander from our military region participating. Let's give them a round of applause."

Minister Yao took the lead in applauding as he spoke, and the others quickly followed suit and applauded enthusiastically.

After the applause died down, Minister Yao looked at the two of them with a smile and said, "Please introduce yourselves."

Lu Lin said succinctly, "Lu Lin, deputy commander of the 13th Regiment, 7th Division, 2nd Army."

Qi Xiangrong was a bit more articulate than him. "My name is Qi Xiangrong. He and I are not from the same regiment. I'm the commander of the Third Battalion, Ninth Regiment, Seventh Division, Second Army. This is my first time participating in this kind of activity, so please give me your guidance."

Everyone applauded enthusiastically again. Minister Yao signaled everyone to stop and began to assign roles.

Because there are only two main male characters in the entire play, one is a senior intelligence liaison officer and the other is a fledgling new liaison officer, so they were directly assigned to Lu Lin and Qi Xiangrong.

The two characters had similar lines and roles, so Minister Yao let them decide for themselves what role to play.

Lu Lin and Qi Xiangrong quickly reached a consensus, with Lu Lin playing the senior role and Qi Xiangrong playing the novice.

Minister Yao nodded, wrote down who played the two characters next to their names, and then assigned roles to other actors.

After the two decided on their roles, they began to read the script and familiarize themselves with their lines in advance.

Minister Yao also quickly arranged the roles and began to gather everyone together to familiarize themselves with the script.

This story mainly tells how two intelligence liaison officers, one old and one new, cleverly avoided the enemy's search, and with the help of many people with lofty ideals, went through untold hardships and finally delivered the intelligence safely to the organization.

The roles of the other actors are these aspiring people, and their roles are relatively evenly distributed, so they are distributed quickly.

Minister Yao first asked everyone to circle their lines with a pen according to the order of each scene, and then one person took turns to read them out loud when it was their turn.

The show started with Lu Lin and Qi Xiangrong's lines, and there was nothing wrong with them. But as the audience continued speaking, Lu Lin frowned slightly.

I don’t know if it’s really a coincidence, but the female character who has the most interactions with his character is played by He Qiuya.

Their characters have several scenes together and there is a lot of physical contact, so they should be together every day during rehearsals.

Lu Lin didn't say anything. He finished reading the script with everyone else and began to listen to Minister Yao's analysis of the character's inner thoughts. He seemed to have no objection to this arrangement.

After the initial reading, it was almost time for lunch. Minister Yao asked everyone to go have lunch and gather directly in the rehearsal room at 2 pm.

Lu Lin didn't abandon Qi Xiangrong and let him eat in the cafeteria, but took him home directly.

Qi Xiangrong didn't say a word the whole way. Only after arriving at Lu Lin's house did he punch Lu Lin and ask, "What do you think about that role?"

Lu Lin didn't say anything, and Qi Xiangrong couldn't help but complain, "What the hell, she's someone I haven't seen in eight hundred years, and now she's everywhere. I don't believe she didn't do it on purpose."

Jiang Manyue had just brought out a dish and heard Qi Xiangrong complaining. She asked curiously, "What's wrong? Who did it on purpose?"

Lu Lin didn't want to say too much and upset Jiang Manyue, so he smiled at her and said, "No one, we are discussing the plot of the play. I'll help you serve the dishes."

Qi Xiangrong also shut up. This matter was just his groundless guess and he didn't want to say it out loud and make Lu Lin's wife unhappy.

After dinner, Jiang Manyue took Lu Jun'an back to their room for a nap. Qi Xiangrong poked Lu Lin, "How about I switch roles with you?"

Qi Xiangrong was grateful for the meal he had and he consciously wanted to switch roles with Lu Lin so that Lu Lin's wife wouldn't be unhappy when she came to watch the performance.

Lu Lin glanced at him and asked, "Are you really willing to change?"

Qi Xiangrong chuckled, "I don't have a wife, so no one will be angry no matter how I perform. But you're different. When your wife sees the show, she won't let you into the room at night."

Lu Lin said silently in his heart that Jiang Manyue would not refuse him entry to the room, because they did not even sleep in the same room!

However, he still accepted Qi Xiangrong's favor, and the two of them simply swapped roles.

The interpersonal relationships of Qi Xiangrong's character are simpler. There are no female characters close to him, and most of his highlights are when he is alone.

At around 1:00 p.m., the two went directly to Minister Yao's office and asked to exchange roles.

Minister Yao didn't care too much about it. Since the rehearsal hadn't started yet, anyone could play the two roles. So he agreed to their request, crossed out the names on the script, and replaced them with the corresponding names.

The two who successfully exchanged roles went to the rehearsal room together to familiarize each other with the lines of their new characters. After everyone arrived, they officially began rehearsing the first act.

The only people who need to appear in the first act are Lu Lin, Qi Xiangrong, He Qiuya and an art soldier named Wang Lizhen.

Apart from the narration, the first person to speak was the new intelligence liaison. When everyone was looking at Qi Xiangrong, Lu Lin spoke.

Everyone was stunned. It was Captain Qi who opened the performance during the morning reading, so why was it Deputy Captain Lu who changed his role during the rehearsal?

Lu Lin finished reading the first line without changing his expression, and Qi Xiangrong naturally continued with the line that originally belonged to Lu Lin.

"Is there a mistake? Isn't Captain Qi playing the new liaison officer? The lines seem to be said the other way around."

Wang Lizhen whispered a reminder, but Minister Yao waved her off and said, "The roles have changed. Deputy Head Lu is now the new liaison officer."

After hearing Minister Yao's explanation, Wang Lizhen nodded and said nothing more, but He Qiuya, who was sitting next to her, suddenly looked ugly.
