Chapter 29: The 20,000 Yuan Bankbook (Revised) (2/2)

He pushed the door, but it was locked from the inside.

“Bang, bang, bang~”

"Baojun's mother, I'm the one who opened the door."

As soon as he finished speaking, the door opened from the inside.

Lin's mother stood inside the door and stretched out her hand to pull Lin's father in.

Mother Lin pressed Father Lin onto the bed and let him lean against the cage.

After finishing all this, Lin's mother asked, "Did you know that Ni'er sold medicine to the army and the army paid her?"

Father Lin stretched his neck and said, "I know, I know. That's why I came to you."

Lin's mother simply opened it and showed it to Lin's father without saying anything else.

Father Lin leaned over to take a look and saw that there were four zeros on the banknote and a two in front.

His eyes widened instantly. He took the passbook and looked at it from left to right, closing it and opening it again. After confirming that it was true, he said with a trembling mouth, "Twenty thousand?"

Mother Lin nodded and sat on the kang as well: "You saw it with your own eyes, didn't you? You are blind."

Father Lin took out his pipe with trembling hands and said, "Let me take a puff first to calm myself down."

Mother Lin watched Father Lin puffing away on his pipe. She said, "Dad, this money was earned by Ni'er herself. No matter how poor our family is, I mean to give it all to her. Just tell the other black-eyed chickens at home that there's 2,000 yuan in the passbook."

Father Lin nodded in approval.

He also felt that the money was earned by Ni'er herself, and no matter how much it was, it belonged to Ni'er.

Mother Lin opened the door and called out to Lin Qingqing, who was surrounded by the crowd, "Ni'er, come here, I have something to ask you."

Lin Qingqing stood up, walked to the door, and pushed it open.

Seeing the smoke in the room, Mother Lin locked the door and placed the passbook in Lin Qingqing's arms: "Ni'er, keep it for yourself. This is what you earned yourself. Keep it for your future."

Lin Qingqing glanced at Lin's father and mother, sat down on the kang and said, "I want to leave you ten thousand yuan. We can replace this thatched cottage with a large tiled house made of blue bricks. The remaining money will be used for your retirement. I will be away with the army and won't be able to fulfill my filial duties. Just consider it my filial duty to you, father and mother."

Mother Lin waved her hand and said, "With your brothers in the future, we won't need to worry about anything. Don't worry about us. As long as you live a good life in the future, that's all that matters."

Father Lin also said: "Yes, this is what you earned. If you take out these 20,000 yuan and tell your sisters-in-law about it, they will start to jump up and down. If things go wrong, there will be no shortage of quarrels in the future."

Lin Qingqing smiled: "Dad and Mom, if you don't want this money, I will never feel at ease outside. You said I live well and eat well in the army, but you live in a thatched mud house at home. How can I eat well and sleep well?"

She said it firmly, and her eyes were full of a look that would not be refused.

Father Lin took a few more puffs of his cigarette before saying, "It's enough to build a house. I don't want any other money." Building a house would cost more than 300 yuan. The house at home was the most dilapidated in the whole village, so it was not impossible to improve it.

Lin Qingqing: "And Damao and the others are still in school."

She knew that the family didn't have much money, and that Damao had been out of school for a year because Lin's mother saved all the money to buy food for herself. Now that they have money, they can arrange for the child to go to school. The child must go to school.

Father Lin pounded his pipe a few more times and said, "Then give us another ten yuan and let Daya and the other girls go to school."

Lin Qingqing: "I said I'd give you 10,000, so just think of it as saving it for me. It's not safe for me to carry so much money around with me."

Lin's mother and father looked at each other. This man stabbed both of them with so much money.

If Ni'er lost her money outside, it would be 20,000 yuan. If she kept 10,000 yuan with her, she would still have half of it left if something unexpected happened.

"Okay." Lin's father and mother nodded at the same time.

"Then I'll take out ten thousand and keep it with my mother."

Mother Lin pulled Lin Qingqing aside and said, "Tell your brother and sisters-in-law that the army gave you 2,000 yuan, but don't tell them 20,000 yuan. You don't know how much you'll have to come up with by then."

Lin Qingqing nodded. She hadn't planned to tell this to her sisters-in-law.

Because of her previous behavior, her sisters-in-law had long been dissatisfied with her.

She didn't want to say more.

After the three of them finished talking, they left the room. The passbook had already been put into the space by Lin Qingqing.
