Chapter 68 Return Gifts to Sisters-in-law
Xiaomei cooked three meat dishes with rice.
The three of them sat around the table again to eat. Xiaomei looked at the food on the floor and smiled, "Brother-in-law, you've worked hard today. Eat more."
"Sister, we can plant the vegetables tomorrow morning, and they will be ready to eat in half a month."
The dinner table was filled with Xiaomei's laughter. Song Yiyuan didn't say his first words until after dinner: "The package should have arrived today. I was cleaning the yard this afternoon and didn't have time to pick it up. I'll get it after dinner."

Watching Song Yiyuan leave, Lin Qingqing told Xiaomei about what she would do at her sister-in-law's place later.
"Xiaomei, take out a box of cakes later, and we'll go to the chief's house next door to meet him."
Xiaomei's eyes widened. "Commander?" This was the highest-ranking officer in the army, and he lived next door? Xiaomei suddenly felt nervous, as if someone was watching her. She asked in a low voice, "Sister, shouldn't we be more cautious?"
Lin Qingqing frowned in confusion.
Xiaomei looked at the dishes on the table and nodded with her chin: "Is this considered hedonism?"

Lin Qingqing understood what Xiaomei meant and smiled. "We bought this meat with coupons. The money is your brother-in-law's allowance. We can eat whatever we want. As long as we don't intentionally waste food, there's nothing wrong with that."
Xiaomei nodded and continued eating with peace of mind.
After dinner, Xiaomei washed the dishes and boiled water for the two of them to wipe their bodies.

Lin Qingqing looked at the watch. It was almost 7 o'clock. She guessed that the leader had finished his meal and was on his way over.
The two men carried their things out of the door, closed it, turned left and went to the house of the leader next door.

Not long after, the door creaked open, and it was Aunt Wang, who was wearing a floral home dress. She looked softer and more approachable than in her military uniform. When she saw that it was Lin Qingqing, her face was full of smiles.

When they got home, they saw parcels sent from their hometown piled up in the living room, but Song Yiyuan was nowhere to be seen. They guessed that he had gone to the army for some business.
Xiaomei only had one package, and the other three sacks all belonged to Lin Qingqing.
