Chapter 110: The Liar
Lin Xiuying took the foot washing water outside and poured it out, then returned to the house and put the wooden basin back to its original place.
Suddenly she remembered that the government offices in the city would be closed on Sunday, and wondered whether her son would go into the city. She subconsciously walked towards her younger son's room, but when she got outside she saw that the door was closed, and she could hear the sound of her son and Chen Pingping playing in the room.
"This kid..."
There were foul sounds coming from the room, and it was obvious that the brat wanted to consummate his marriage with Pingping early.
Pingping didn't seem to refuse, which was understandable for the couple. After all, they grew up together as childhood sweethearts. If the Zhang family hadn't proposed marriage to the Chen family, the baby they had now wouldn't be much younger than Baoer.
Lin Xiuying smiled with satisfaction and decided not to bother them.
As soon as I turned around, I saw my eldest daughter-in-law, "Mom! Is my uncle going to the county town tomorrow? If they are going to the town early in the morning, I will get up early to make dinner."
"Who knows? Never mind. Let's wait until they wake up tomorrow and tell you." Lin Xiuying covered her face and laughed secretly, pushing her eldest daughter-in-law away from the west chamber.
Li Hui looked a little confused.
After vaguely hearing the noise coming from my brother-in-law's room, I suddenly understood my mother-in-law's intention.
No wonder, when the adults of the two families sat together to discuss the marriage two days ago, the uncle said something like the Chen family had a carpenter living in their house recently, and it was not appropriate for Pingping, a girl waiting to get married, to live together.
Pingping's parents tacitly agreed to let their daughter move to the Wang family with her pillow, and they couldn't wait even a month.
"Then...Mom, you should go to bed early too. It's cold at night and you don't have to get up to look after them." Li Hui went back to her room with a smile.
I watched my eldest daughter-in-law go back to her room, closed the door and went to sleep.
Lin Xiuying ran back to the room, her face full of joy, and said to her husband: "Dongsheng, that brat is sleeping in the same room with Pingping."
"You idiot! Do you want us to be humble in front of the Chen couple in the future?" At first, Wang Dongsheng didn't believe it. Seeing the smile on his wife's face, he cursed, "You can't wait this long. Let the villagers gossip behind your back."
"Pingping is the daughter-in-law of our Wang family long ago! Let them do what they want. If she moves in before getting married, I'm afraid those people in the village would have spread these rumors a long time ago."
Wang Dongsheng wanted to say something to express his anger at his younger son's sneaky behavior, but after thinking it over, he held back and didn't continue scolding.
In the compartment.
"Zong Hao, from now on you have to be good to me and you can only love me." Chen Pingping's face was slightly hot from the wind, her heartbeat suddenly became disordered, and she caught the hungry wolf that was flying towards her.
At the critical moment, I was still a little sober.
Zhu Yan and Wang Zonghao have been engaged for more than two years, and they may have had such intimacy.
She was worried that the man might still have Zhu Yan in his heart, after all, she saw them holding hands on the road when no one was watching.
Thinking of that scene, Chen Pingping's face flushed, not knowing whether she was embarrassed or angry. She pursed her lips and took the initiative to kiss her fiancé: "Zong Hao, I'm afraid..."
"Don't be afraid, this day will come."
Why would Wang Zonghao not agree to her?
He had been thinking about this tonight for the entire day, and finally he got his sweetheart.
He was even more nervous than his fiancée, and he kissed the woman he loved so much randomly, "Don't worry! Pingping, you are the only one in my heart."
Just when Wang Zonghao was enjoying it extremely.
Baoer slept in his cousin Zhuzi's room. The two guys were lying on the bed chatting. Somehow they talked about the photos that Wang Ziru had taken in the past.
"Brother Zhuzi! Did you hear at noon that Pingping said she wanted to take pictures with her uncle. Do you want to take pictures?"
Zhuzi rested his arms under his head and thought for a moment, "You want to take a picture?"
"Well, when I grow up I can see my own photos, just like my mom also took photos when she was little." Baoer jumped out of the bed and looked at the kerosene lamp on the drawer. "I'll go to my uncle's room to get my mom's photo."
"Watch it tomorrow. You've watched it over a hundred times. How come you don't get tired of it?"
"But I miss my mom. I can only fall asleep holding her photo..." The boy quickly slid off the bed.
The boy usually slept with his head resting on his mother's arms. Suddenly, he couldn't fall asleep without the familiar smell of his mother's embrace.
After all, Zhuzi was a few years older than his little cousin, so he had to follow him wearing a shirt. He also helped Baoer put on his little cotton shirt. Then the two of them opened the door and went out, holding up the kerosene lamp.
Zhuzi held up a kerosene lamp and took Baoer to the door of his uncle's house.
Without knocking on the door, he pushed it open and went straight in to ask his uncle for a photo of his aunt.
Unexpectedly, the door was locked from the inside.
"Uncle, open the door. Baoer wants to get the photo of aunt, otherwise he can't sleep at night." Zhuzi shouted loudly outside the door.
Baoer was also a little curious. Why did my uncle lock the door when he went to sleep?
The boy raised his hands and started banging on the door, "Uncle! I want my mother's photo..."
In the dim room, Wang Zonghao was very angry because of the sound of banging on the door outside.
Chen Pingping was also terrified. She punched the man and said through gritted teeth, "Why are you still hiding your sister's photo?"
"Really? I have to teach those two brats a lesson tomorrow." Wang Zonghao had no choice but to open the door, hurriedly took the junior high school Chinese textbook, and passed it out through the crack in the door. "Hurry back to sleep."
Baoer and Zhuzi heard Chen Pingping's voice coming from the room and found it strange, so they put their ears to the door to eavesdrop.
Seeing that his uncle was not wearing any clothes, he came out to open the door. Zhuzi stuck to the crack of the door and looked into the room, "Uncle! Why is Pingping sleeping in your room? Aren't you two married yet?"
"Get lost! What do you know? Go back to sleep. If you keep knocking on the door, your dad will spank you tomorrow." Wang Zonghao was obviously at a loss after being caught by his nephew. He yelled at Bao'er with a red face, "Bao'er, stop looking around. Go back to sleep."
I reached out and patted Baoer's little head. The little guy felt a little aggrieved.
"Huh, uncle, you hit me? Tomorrow, I'm going to tell mom." The little guy pouted and yelled.
When Lin Xiuying heard the noise outside, she ran out with her clothes on. Without saying anything, she took the two kids with her and hurriedly sent the people back to their room.
…
In the middle of the night, Wang Ziru suddenly sneezed.
"It's not cold at all, why am I sneezing?" Wang Ziru muttered while rolling up the quilt, then turned sideways and rolled into the warm and broad arms.
She thought that since the child was not at home, Zhai Ximo would do something naughty like he did the morning before yesterday. She felt shy just thinking about it.
Unfortunately, it was just her wishful thinking. When she returned home at night, washed up and lay on the bed, the man did not kiss and pinch her like he did in the previous few days.
After blowing out the kerosene lamp, he just hugged her gently, then lay on his back quietly and breathed evenly.
He was acting so abnormally, as if he had something unspeakable on his mind, and he kept the passion within himself.
Wang Ziru waited silently for a while, quietly held the man's warm hand, and asked softly: "You look worried?"
"No, go to sleep." His voice was surprisingly calm.
"You can't keep things secret in your heart. Zonghao saw it this afternoon. You are not really still thinking about the Han family's matter, are you?" She raised her cheek and stared at the faintly visible facial outline in the dark.
Zhai Ximo sighed inwardly, turned sideways and hugged the woman, "No, don't make blind guesses."
If he had heard his wife mention the incident five years ago a few days ago, he would have wanted to get up and push the woman to the bed and beat her up. But after learning that Han Suijing was such a heroic figure, Zhai Ximo felt ashamed of himself and was unhappy.
Since he didn't admit it, Wang Ziru didn't want to continue asking for fear of upsetting the man. Or maybe she had guessed wrong.
Since Baoer is not at home, the couple doesn't have to worry about anything when talking to each other.
Wang Ziru tentatively asked him and Zhang Kang where they went shopping in the afternoon and what they bought. The man answered with a few words perfunctorily.
The next morning, after breakfast, the couple went to the back hill of the village to plant vegetables. They passed by Luo's house and went to see Zhao Junxia's daughter.
Zhao Junxia had already gone downstairs and was washing the child's diapers in the house.
Seeing Wang Ziru coming, he hurriedly got up from the small stool, wiped the water stains on his hands on his clothes, and took her into the house to see the child.
The side room was old and mottled, and a little drafty. Zhao Junxia wrapped the child in a cotton quilt and a small mattress, neither too loose nor too tight, leaving only the baby's slightly rosy face exposed. He looked extremely adorable.
Wang Ziru picked up the child from the bed, walked to the window, and looked at the child. "The jaundice has subsided, and the little face has regained its rosiness."
"Yes! Thanks to you, Sister Ziru." The rosy complexion gradually returned to Zhao Junxia's face.
"We are all neighbors, so it's easy to stop."
The baby was sleeping soundly, so Wang Ziru put the child back on the bed and let her continue sleeping.
Coming out of the room, Wang Ziru looked at Zhao Junxia and saw how quickly she had recovered her vigorous pace. She kindly reminded her, "You just gave birth to a child, so you should take good care of yourself during the confinement period. You should lie down more to recuperate so that the organs in your stomach can gradually return to their original positions."
"Just, just wash the baby's diapers..." Zhao Junxia was a grateful woman, and she could tell that Wang Ziru was doing this for her own good.
I quickly said, "After washing the diaper, go back to your room and lie down."
Zhao Junxia, wearing an old hat, cordially escorted Wang Ziru out of the Luo family's main hall.
The couple stopped only when they reached the field at the top of the slope at the back of the mountain.
Standing on the slope, you can see streaks of water on the terraces in the village. It seems that most of the rice fields have been plowed out and are just waiting to be planted.
"Xi Mo, do you know how to grow vegetables?" Wang Ziru asked as she took the vegetable seeds out of the small bamboo basket.
Zhai Ximo put down the hoe on her shoulder and smiled faintly, "I grew up in the village. How can I say that I don't even know how to grow cabbage? You won't dislike your man?"
"No! I'm not such a superficial woman."
The couple divided the work and cooperated. Zhai Ximo first dug shallow trenches in the field on the slope, just like planting corn. Standing on the ridge, one could clearly see the rows of paths dividing the field.
Then loosen the turned soil casually, and take advantage of the morning dew and moisture in the forest to randomly scatter the vegetable seeds in the soil.
Then use a hoe to scoop up some thin soil and cover it on top.
Wang Ziru stood on the ridge, holding her waist and looking at the neatly paved field. "After lunch, let's fetch some water. Sprinkling some water will make it easier for the seeds to germinate."
The two of them worked quickly and finished the job before noon, carrying their hoes and going home.
Before they reached the outside of Zhai's yard, the couple heard what seemed to be a quarrel at home on the slope.
"Your mother is back! No wonder my right eyelid has been twitching." Wang Ziru realized that it was her mother-in-law Liu Xiulan who was scolding. After such a quiet few days, is she finally going back to the chaotic days of the past?
Zhai Ximo sighed: "He was sent to jail for a few days, but when he came back, he was still the same as before."
"Go and see what she is doing. This time, no matter what, she must not get killed again. Otherwise, it will affect your future."
Hearing the woman worry about his future, Zhai Ximo praised her: "You are such a sensible wife, she will not let you suffer any loss."
Having said that, Zhai Ximo quickened his pace, walked up the slope, and was the first to enter the fenced yard.
In the yard, Mrs. Liu saw the third son coming back from the field with a hoe on his shoulder. She pointed at the sky and cursed the ground: "Who on earth is this short-lived ghost who stole the food from my house while I was away? I must find her out today and report her to Secretary Tang of the commune."
