Lu Chen looked at his mother with a puzzled expression.
“Lu Chen, listen to your mother, divorce this woman. Shi Shi is our brigade leader’s daughter. She doesn’t mind if you divorce. She’s willing to marry you with just a hundred yuan dowry.”
Lu Chen stared wide-eyed in disbelief!
Startled, he immediately turned around and glanced at his wife.
Shen Qiaoyue frowned and stared at Lu's mother, then released Lu He and asked uncertainly, "What do you mean? You want me to get a divorce?"
“Lu Chen is my son, so he has to listen to me. You vixen, you dare to seduce my son? Bah!” Lu’s mother knew that if Lu Chen didn’t leave, she and Chen Shishi would live here together. “This is my son’s home. I’m telling you, you’d better move out today, or I’ll kick you out.”
"Mom, have you suffered a mental breakdown?" Lu He asked, her voice trembling with tears.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Lu's mother scolded angrily.
Chen Shishi quickly smiled and said, "Brother Lu Chen, sister-in-law, aunt are just joking. I just haven't seen Brother Lu Chen for so long, so I came to visit."
Shen Qiaoyue looked at the dishes in her hands and smiled obsequiously.
"Mother-in-law, I advise you to take back what you just said?" Shen Qiaoyue was already gathering her strength to vent.
“Mom, my third brother and sister-in-law are in a military marriage. You’re instigating someone to deliberately ruin a military marriage. That’s a crime punishable by imprisonment,” Lu He said directly to his mother.
Feeling embarrassed, Chen Shishi quickly brought in the dishes and said, "Aunt Lu, Brother Lu Chen, Sister-in-law, I just came to visit Brother Lu Chen, I have no other intentions."
Shen Qiaoyue glared fiercely at Lu's mother and said, "Mother-in-law, I respect you as an elder and don't want to say much. But I also want to tell you today that my eldest and second brothers have been living a good life all these years with the money Lu Chen sent back. If you continue to make trouble, I will call back to the local government to manage those houses. Don't blame us for being ruthless then."
"What do you mean?" Hearing this, Lu's mother became even angrier and immediately tried to hit Chen Qiaoyue.
"Mom, calm down." Lu He stepped forward to stop her mother, and the slap landed on Lu He's face.
Lu Chen stepped forward to separate the entanglement between Lu's mother and Lu He.
He grabbed Lu's mother's hand with one hand and forcefully shook it off.
"Lu Chen, you have some nerve!" Lu's mother angrily pointed at Lu Chen and cursed, sitting on the ground crying and slapping her thighs with both hands, she cried, "You heartless bastard, I raised you all these years, and you've forgotten your mother after you got married. If you don't divorce me, I'll go to the leaders and report you."
"Auntie, please don't get upset. Lu Chen was just acting on impulse." Chen Shishi came in from outside and gave Shen Qiaoyue a push.
Lu He was so frightened that she reached out to support Shen Qiaoyue.
When Lu Chen saw this scene, he couldn't bear it.
"Mom, let's not say things so harshly. If you're still not giving up, then today is the day to make you give up!"
Lu Chen stared at Chen Shishi and said, "I left home when I was eleven and have never been engaged. You have never asked for my opinion. The engagement between Chen Shishi and me is just wishful thinking on your part, Mom."
"I'm your mother. I arranged your marriage with the consent of the family." Lu's mother didn't care about reason; whatever she thought was right was right.
“Brother Lu Chen, I got engaged to you when I was fourteen. All these years I’ve been waiting for you to come back and marry me, but instead I got the news that you married someone else. How am I supposed to live in the village?”
With a sob in her voice, Chen Shishi knelt down to support Lu's mother and said to Lu Chen in a pitiful manner.
Lu He's lips twitched as he pointed at Chen Shishi and angrily cursed, "Chen Shishi, you are really shameless! You have an ambiguous relationship with the pig butcher and hunter in the village, and you eat and drink there for free every day. You still have the nerve to say that you are engaged to my brother. You were caught having an ambiguous relationship with several men, and you still dare to bring up the engagement from back then. You are really shameless!"
Chen Shishi stared at Lu He, her expression shifting between pale and flushed.
"I misspoke. How can you say you're a virgin now? Can you even count how many men you've been with? Mom, you're a woman too, and my brother is your son. Aren't you afraid people will laugh at our family for getting involved with a woman like that? Aren't you afraid she'll bewitch my brothers and your good days will be over?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Qiaoyue was surprised to learn that the Lu family had pulled this stunt!
How come Lu Chen has so many amazing women around him? He deals with one and another one comes along.
However, Lu He's words were quite interesting, and Shen Qiaoyue sighed with emotion, "This child is teachable!"
"Lu He, shut up!" Lu's mother scolded Lu He angrily. "You good-for-nothing! Besides, Shishi is your older sister, and she might be your third sister-in-law in the future. If you continue to disrespect her, I'll tear your mouth apart. All those years of schooling have been for nothing."
"Just because you're educated, I've already been giving you face enough when I speak. If we're talking about Chen Shishi in the old way, she'd be a slut. A slut like her doesn't deserve to be in my house. Bah!" Lu He retorted angrily. "Go ahead and curse me. I'm the one you taught me to do this. You never used to call Chen Shishi a slut like this. You're really going all out to control my brother, even sacrificing your dignity."
Chen Shishi was so angry she couldn't speak. Lu He had only been away from home for a short time, but he had already become very sharp-tongued.
“You…” Lu’s mother pointed at Lu He, unable to utter a single word.
She turned the house upside down on her very first day.
Shen Qiaoyue stepped forward and said, "Mother-in-law, I'll say it again. The houses of my eldest brother and second brother were built with Lu Chen's money. Lu Chen and I have already called the Housing Management Bureau to register the land and houses. Those two houses belong to us. If you dare to make trouble again, Lu Chen and I will immediately call back and have the houses demolished."
