When Lu He went out to buy groceries, she saw that leafy greens were cheap and selling very well. Perhaps the supply and marketing cooperative was thinking of closing time, so the prices of vegetables were much cheaper today. Since there were many people in her family, Lu He bought several cabbages, carrots, corn, and some eggs.
On the way back, after walking for a while, I felt it was so heavy that my arms were sore, so I had to put it down and rest for a while.
Xu Feiming happened to be coming out of the shop to buy soy sauce when he saw Lu He.

Xu Feiming handed the soy sauce to Lu He, and then took the rest of the dishes.

"When I was in the hospital, I could handle anything. I don't know what's wrong with me today, I'm acting all dramatic!" Lu He couldn't help but tease and retort.
Xu Feiming teased, "Of course! Your body was telling you that you needed help because you knew I was going to show up!"
"Maybe so, it must be our Brother Feiming who wants to help. My body can't handle this weight, it's time to need you!" Lu He joked along.
Xu Feiming smiled happily and said, "You're a girl, it's quite impressive that you can carry so many things."
“That’s right, I’m a trained fighter. I even took down some thugs by myself before!” Lu He suddenly blurted out in Shanghai dialect.
This immediately made Xu Feiming laugh.
"Who did you learn this from?" Xu Feiming asked.
"I learned this from my Aunt Wen. I studied in Haishi for a while before. The way those people talk is really interesting! I found the intonation they used to say funny, so I picked up a few phrases," Lu He explained.
Xu Feiming didn't really like the voice; it was Lu He who said it was quite cute.
"It seems our little sister Lu He has a strong learning ability! Since she's a martial arts expert, how about we have a match after dinner?" Xu Feiming was very curious about what kind of martial arts expert Lu He was.
“Okay, after we eat, come and play a few rounds.” Lu He agreed without hesitation.
Xu Feiming's competitive spirit was immediately aroused.
"I'm not going to go easy on you, okay?"
"You're not allowed to go easy on me."
The two spoke at the same time.
They then burst into laughter and happily walked home together.
I was especially happy on the way back.
When Lu He returned to her doorstep, she saw Shen Yuanyi arriving with his family.
"Lu He, where have you been so early in the morning?" Liu Xinlan arrived at the door carrying gifts and saw Xu Feiming and Lu He returning from outside.
Watching them chat and laugh, Liu Xinlan had a purely spectator's look on her face.
"Uncle Chen is here. Lu He and I went out to buy groceries. We ran out of soy sauce and vinegar, so we brought some back with us," Xu Feiming replied generously.
Shen Yuanyi looked at the two of them; they seemed quite well-matched.
"I just wanted to get here as soon as possible and help out." Shen Yuanyi wanted to come and keep an eye on Qiaoyue so she wouldn't be bullied by Granny Jiang. "Has Granny Jiang arrived yet?" Shen Yuanyi asked Xu Feiming in a low voice.
“When we came out, they weren’t here yet, so we don’t know now,” Xu Feiming replied.
"That's good." Shen Yuanyi came in happily.
Shen Qiaoyue had already prepared the candy and tea, and was just waiting for them to pour it for her.
Meanwhile, Lu Chen arrived at the sanatorium.
Lu Chen, carrying the child, followed Jiang Mingjing into the ward.
Qin Haishi was already dressed and waiting.
She held the clothes she had prepared for her daughter and grandson, swaying her body in a daze.
"Great-Grandma?" Da Nian greeted Qin Hai Shi first.
Xiao Nian followed closely behind and said, "Great-Grandma, I'm here!"
"New Year's Day, New Year's Eve, you've arrived?" Qin Haishi immediately greeted the children happily.
Upon seeing Lu Chen, Qin Hai's eyes instantly welled up with tears.
Qin Haishi stopped Lu Chen uncertainly. She had already seen the photo; it was her daughter's biological child, the grandson she had longed for.
"Xiao Chen?" Qin Hai asked tentatively.
"Grandma...am I late?" Lu Chen put down Da Nian and came to Qin Hai's side.
Lu Chen knelt in front of the bed and looked up at his grandmother.
The old man, with his white hair and seemingly lifeless appearance, seemed to come alive the moment he saw him.
Lu Chen said to Qin Shiyi with a guilty look on his face, "Grandma, I'm sorry for appearing so late. I've kept you waiting."
A strange sense of familiarity; perhaps this is what family love is.
Grandma's face looked very gentle and loving.
"Xiao Chen! You look just like your mother, those eyes are so similar!" Qin Hai's eyes were red from crying. Seeing Lu Chen reminded her of her deceased daughter, "My Juan'er!"
"Grandma, don't cry. I'm back. You still have your family, me and the children. They all want you to be happy." Lu Chen comforted Qin Hai Shi, then pulled Xiao Nian over and said to Qin Hai Shi, "Grandma, look at Xiao Nian. On the way here, she said she liked Great-Grandma the most, right, Xiao Nian?"
"Yes, I like Great-Grandma." Xiao Nian nodded earnestly to Qin Hai Shi.
When Qin Haishi saw Xiao Nian, his face looked exactly like his daughter's when she was a child.
Tears streamed down her cheeks like raindrops.
"Xiao Nian!" Qin Haishi rarely wanted to hug Xiao Nian, but she no longer had the strength to hold the child.
"Great-Grandma, don't cry, if you don't cry you'll get candy!" Xiao Nian took out a candy from her pocket and comforted Qin Haishi.
In Xiao Nian's mind, as long as she cried, her grandmother and mother would give her candy to stop her from crying.
Lu Chen took out a handkerchief and wiped away Qin Hai's tears.
"Yes, yes, Great-Grandma, don't cry, don't cry!" Qin Haishi nodded seriously and said to Xiao Nian.
Xiao Nian smiled happily.
“Mom, Lu Chen, the children, and I have come to take you home for the New Year. Come with us. Lu He and Qiao Yue are waiting for you at home. Don’t cry, okay?” Jiang Mingjing comes to pick up Qin Haishi every day to spend the New Year with the old lady.
This year is also the most festive year, as his son has come back to celebrate the New Year with him.
"Oh! Let's celebrate the New Year together, let's celebrate the New Year together." Qin Hai nodded, stopped crying, and looked at the two children, saying, "I'll give them red envelopes for the New Year, a really big red envelope."
"Yay! Red envelope! Money to buy candy for Great-Grandma!" Da Nian said happily, waving his hand at Qin Hai.
Qin Haishi happily touched Da Nian's face.
"Yes, yes, buy some candy, good boy." Qin Hai looked at the children so happy, then looked at Lu Chen with heartache and asked, "Little Chen, is it very hard outside? Has anyone cared for you all these years?"
Tears welled up in Lu Chen's eyes instantly; these words touched the softest part of Lu Chen's heart.
With tears in her eyes, she nodded and said, "Grandma, your grandson is loved. I have a wife, children, and a father. Someone loves me and will buy me candy."
