Chapter 38 Changing Positions

Cheng County in September is still extremely hot, with no sign of autumn at all.

Liang Su checked out of the room and headed to the station with his suitcase.

She bought the ticket at nine in the morning and arrived in Ping County around eleven.

After lunch, she would take a bus to Mushi Town, and then walk from the town to Bali Village.

I heard that Bali Village is only one kilometer away from the town and can be reached on foot, which saved her a lot of effort.

Liang Su found a place to sit at the station and wait for the bus.

After sitting for a while, I saw a familiar figure walking in from outside.

Shen Congji?

He was also carrying a bag in his hand, and it looked like he was here to take the bus.

Liang Su lowered his eyes, hesitating whether to say hello.

Thinking about the fact that although they had met before, they disliked each other, I guess he wouldn't be happy to see me.

After all, not even as good as friends.

She suppressed the urge to say hello and continued counting ants with her head down.

Soon, a figure appeared overhead, completely blocking out the sun.

Liang Su raised his head and pretended to be surprised: "Comrade Shen, what a coincidence."

The girl thought she had concealed it well, but she didn't know that Shen Congji had seen her from the very beginning.

"Where are you going?" He sat aside, with a seat between him and Liang Su.

Liang Su showed the ticket, on which the destination was handwritten "Ping County".

Shen Congji raised his eyebrows, “What a coincidence, what are you doing in Ping County?”

Liang Su was speechless. Could it be that he was also going to Ping County? This was really bad news.

"I signed up to go to the countryside and was assigned to Ping County."

"Where is Ping County?"

Liang Su paused and said, "Bali Village, Mushi Town."

I just hope I'm not in the same place as him.

But when she saw Shen Congji's expression, her heart skipped a beat.

“The place Comrade Shen is going to is also Bali Village?”

Shen Congji nodded lightly, and seeing Liang Su's face as if he had lost his parents, he couldn't help but wonder if his popularity was really that bad.

But when I think about their past interactions, I feel that it is normal for Liang Su to behave like this.

"You could try to control the disgust on your face." He kindly reminded me.

Liang Su smiled awkwardly, "I'm not disgusted, I'm just a little surprised."

The two of them sat in silence, and then stopped talking to avoid embarrassment.

Unexpectedly, when they got on the bus, they found that their seat numbers were together.

Liang Su sat by the window and went in first, while Shen Congji sat on the aisle side.

This shuttle bus has one ticket per seat, so it won’t be crowded and there won’t be any standing room.

So the smell in this bus was better than the one Liang Su had taken before.

But it was only a little better. If the window was not opened, she would still feel like vomiting.

After checking the tickets, the person accompanying the bus called out, "Everyone is here."

The driver started the car and started off with a bumpy ride.

As the car started moving, hot wind blew in. It was better to have some air than nothing, and Liang Su felt a little more comfortable.

Liang Su bought the ticket early, so he had a seat in the front.

There were a few old men and women in the back who started chatting as soon as they got on the bus. They talked louder and louder and laughed non-stop.

Although it's a bit noisy, I got used to it after listening to it for a long time.

Before he knew it, Liang Su yawned delicately, his eyelids began to twitch, and his head nodded.

Shen Congji glanced sideways, and seeing that her head was about to hit the car window, he subconsciously stretched out his hand to block it.

Liang Su's cheek hit the back of his hand. He couldn't help but compare the touch to tofu in his mind, but he felt it was softer than tofu.

Shen Congji frowned at the thought in his head, and his hand seemed to be burned, and he wanted to withdraw it immediately.

After hesitating for a moment, he finally straightened her head and withdrew his hand.

But not long after, Liang Su's head began to fall again.

This time, he leaned directly on Shen Congji's shoulder.

Although it was hard and uncomfortable, she rubbed it twice and fell into a deep sleep again.

He was tall and sat upright with his back straight, his head much higher than the seat, and his long legs tucked under the seat in a wronged manner.

The shoulder was just at the edge of Liang Su's head, and she could lean against it by tilting her head.

Shen Congji frowned, wondering whether to push her away.

He stretched out his five fingers repeatedly, clenched and unclenched them, hesitated for a long time, and finally did not stretch out his hand.

Fortunately, Liang Su woke up soon as if he was startled by something.

She seemed to be frightened by something. Shen Congji was about to ask, but when Liang Su found herself leaning on Shen Congji's shoulder, she almost jumped up in fright.

It was obvious that he was more terrifying than what she had dreamed of.

Liang Su blushed slightly, "I'm sorry."

She looked annoyed. It would be better to lean against the window than against his side.

Thinking of this, she explained: "Maybe you were too hard, I thought it was a window."

Shen Congji didn't know what he was thinking about. His body tensed slightly and he hummed in a deep voice.

Only when the heat on Liang Su's cheeks faded away did she feel like sorting out the dream she had just had.

She dreamed that not long after the bus started driving, it began to rain heavily.

When we reached the foot of a mountain, the whole car was buried due to a landslide.

Liang Su looked up and saw a large dark cloud gathering above his head.

Soon, an old lady came over to talk to Liang Su.

"Sister, can you change places with me?"

Liang Su's eyes narrowed. In the dream, this old lady had left her seat and stood in the middle of the aisle. When the driver braked suddenly, the old lady was thrown out and died on the spot.

She was originally wondering how the old lady stood up, and it turned out that it was because she changed seats.

As usual, Liang Su was not planning to change.

She just didn't want to sit in the back, so she went to the station to buy the ticket several days in advance.

Now she thought that it was probably because she refused that the old lady was reluctant to leave and lingered for a long time.

After all, it hasn't rained outside yet...

Just as Liang Su was thinking this, he heard raindrops as big as beans hitting the car window and a loud rumbling sound in the sky.

She quickly stood up and said, "Grandma, please sit down."

The old lady had a good attitude. She spoke in a negotiating tone and didn't seem to be taking advantage of her seniority.

Seeing that Liang Su was willing to change seats, she was full of gratitude.

Seeing that Liang Su had changed seats but still had no intention of leaving, Shen Congji stood beside him.

The rain outside was getting heavier and heavier, and Liang Su couldn't help but feel anxious.

She didn't know which section of the road had slipped, and it seemed unrealistic to ask the driver to stop.

The only solution now is to ask the driver to take another route.

"Grandma, you don't look well. You look a little pale. Are you carsick?"

The old lady rubbed her chest gently and didn't look like she was carsick.

Sure enough, she smiled and shook her head.

"My heart isn't feeling well."

As soon as these words came out, Shen Congji's face became serious.

"Do you have any heart-related illness?"

The old lady nodded and said, "Yes, I had surgery a few years ago and there were no problems for a while. As soon as I got in the car today, I felt uncomfortable."
