Chapter 14: Trouble comes from the mouth

Liang Su returned home, walked in through the front door, and saw Aunt Daqu sitting downstairs.

A few people were eating melon seed shells all over the floor, talking and laughing.

Liang Su glanced at them and walked up the stairs without saying hello.

Aunt Qu, however, became even more brazen, raising her voice impudently: "The Liang family has a bad tradition. I don't know what sin they've committed, but both of their daughters are so unruly. You're talking about Liang Qin, she grew up in the countryside and has no manners, so it's okay. But this one who grew up in the city is no exception, climbing into a man's bed at such a young age."

She spoke to herself, not noticing the people around her winking at her.

Although everyone likes to hear these words, they can only be said behind people's backs.

It would be so embarrassing if the person involved heard it.

Aunt Qu was talking excitedly when a voice suddenly rang out from behind her: "Aunt Qu, who are you talking about? Do you want to tell me too?"

Aunt Qu's back stiffened and the expression on her face seemed to be frozen.

I was halfway through saying something and it was not right to continue, nor was it right to stop.

She had just seen Liang Su go upstairs, why was he coming down again?

"You seem to be talking about me, right? I don't even know as much as you do about the things you're talking about. Do you want to tell me in detail?"

In the past, Liang Su would have really endured it.

After enduring for so long, she began to be afraid to go home.

Whenever she passed by the gate and went upstairs, she could see Aunt Qu pointing at her.

She didn't need to think about it to know how harsh those words were.

Since her tolerance cannot be exchanged for others' restraint, why should she endure it?

Liang Su sat down slowly, right opposite Aunt Qu, and the two looked at each other face to face.

"Go ahead, I'm listening. You've been talking about me here a lot before, and I happened to hear it today, so why not tell it all."

Her cold attitude made Aunt Qu angry and she began to feel angry and embarrassed.

"What are you talking about? No matter how much I say here, it's all true. And you can't tell the truth! You went out that day and came back wearing different clothes. Even Liang Qin said it herself that you slept with a man. How could it be false? You're so impatient at such a young age. You're so shameless!"

Liang Su lowered his head and rubbed his palms, thinking that he had been slapping people too frequently recently.

"Aunt Qu, this isn't the first time you've been throwing mud at me behind my back. I'm an educated person, after all, and I wouldn't do anything violent, but your words have already had a serious impact on me. Do you want me to call the police, or come with me to the police station now?"

Aunt Qu looked extremely shocked, her eyes as big as copper bells.

"Are you crazy? I just said a few words. Why are you going to the police station?"

Liang Su had a faint smile on his face, and he looked intimidating without even getting angry.

"So that you may understand that the mouth can bring disaster."

Aunt Qu was panicked and pushed her hand away, muttering and cursing at her.

"I'm not going. If you have the guts, call the police and arrest me!"

Liang Su snorted and laughed, "Okay, then please wait at home. When you get to the police station, repeat what you said truthfully."

Aunt Qu spat fiercely, her heart was extremely panicked, but her words were very tough.

"You little bitch, you still want to threaten me? Do you think I was brought up by fear? If your damned parents hadn't switched children, you'd probably be begging for food in some poor family right now. You should be secretly happy to be able to live in our compound! I'm just wondering what's wrong with you. What did I say wrong? You're relying on your good looks to hook up with men everywhere. I don't think your biological parents are any good either!"

Liang Su had originally considered that she was his elder and would not take action if possible, but now he could no longer tolerate it.

Her ears seemed to block out the sounds from the outside world, and she could only see Aunt Qu's mouth opening and closing.

Liang Su gritted his teeth and was about to raise his hand to slap him when he heard a scolding from outside: "Comrade, your words are too harsh. You can't take advantage of your age to bully young comrades like this!"

Liang Su looked back and saw a middle-aged woman walked in.

She was wearing long clothes, long pants and black high heels, looking very neat.

She stood beside Liang Su and scolded him coldly, "I've been listening at the door for quite a while. The more you talk, the more outrageous you become. Don't you need evidence before you speak or act?"

Aunt Qu was afraid of her aura and did not dare to retort for a moment.

But at his age, he was scolded by her and felt a little embarrassed.

Seeing that she seemed unconvinced, the woman said with a stern face, "I am Yao Chunhua, the chairperson of the County Women's Federation. If you think what I just said is wrong, you can point it out!"

Aunt Qu was shocked and felt a little regretful.

I just said a few words casually, why did someone catch me and keep asking for me to do so?

Liang Su was touched. She didn't expect that anyone passing by would be willing to speak for her.

"Thank you, Chairman Yao."

Yao Chunhua waved his hand. "By the way, comrade, I want to ask you about someone. Does Comrade Liang Su live here?"

Liang Su was stunned, "I am Liang Su."

Yao Chunhua suddenly realized and laughed: "What a coincidence."

She pulled a large red silk banner from her handbag and said with a smile, "The County Women's Federation recently visited families in need. I happened to be at Comrade Wang Caifeng's home and heard about your heroic rescue, regardless of your own safety. The County Women's Federation has decided to present you with a silk banner and commend you."

Liang Su's eyebrows moved slightly, wondering if she knew about Wang Caifeng.

"I didn't do anything. Anyone who encounters that situation would save the person."

Yao Chunhua's eyes showed admiration, and he admired her even more.

"Anyone would have saved him, but now it's you who encountered this situation and it's you who saved him. This banner deserves you."

Liang Su bit her lips and lowered her head slightly.

"Chairman Yao, since you're here, why don't you help me explain? I saved Comrade Wang Caifeng that day. Her parents were worried that I'd come home with wet clothes, so they kindly took me home to change. But because of this outfit, Aunt Qu has been spreading rumors about me, wanting to nail me to the pillar of shame. If I don't explain clearly, tomorrow the entire textile factory compound will think I'm a dissolute woman."

She covered her lips and sobbed, tears falling down her face, she cried so pitifully.

Aunt Qu's eyes were filled with panic as she hastily denied, "No, I didn't..."

Yao Chunhua said sternly, "You still want to deny it? I heard everything you said clearly. Could it be that I would wrongly accuse you? It's because of gossips like you that there are so many family conflicts! You are a worker in the textile factory. I want to have a good talk with the Women's Federation of your factory!"

Liang Su choked up and said, "She is not, but her husband is a worker in a textile factory."

Yao Chunhua snorted coldly, "If you can't even control your family members, how can you possibly work for a textile factory? Comrade Liang Su, I will clear your name and seek justice for you!"

Liang Su pursed his lips and smiled, "Chairman Yao, I just want justice. As for this bonus, please donate it to the welfare home for me."

Yao Chunhua liked her more and more and felt that Liang Su was a person of integrity.

"Okay, then I'll donate it for you!"
