Chapter 20 Work

Chapter 20 Work

"Yes, yes, I think I smell the fragrance, do you smell it?"

Aunt Lanhua and Aunt Xiujuan started chatting as if no one was around. Master Yang's apprentice Dong Jianbin and second chef Master Zhu were also joking along.

"Yes, just by smelling this, I know Xiao Jiang's cooking skills are good."

"It seems that Comrade Xiao Jiang will work with us in the future."

Master Yang sniffed and felt good about it, but seeing that they were all praising Jiang Yingying, he straightened his back.

These people are all unreliable. As the head of the kitchen, he can't be like them.

But soon, Secretary Yang couldn't hold it in anymore.

It’s nothing, it’s just that it smells so good.

At first, Aunt Lanhua and a few others were still chatting, but later, there was no more talking in the kitchen, only the sound of swallowing saliva.

When Secretary Yang saw the reactions of Master Yang and the others, he felt a little funny and a little proud.

After all, Jiang Yingying was the one she brought here.

However, Secretary Yang rubbed his belly and thought: Her mother was not bragging. Comrade Xiao Jiang looks fair, thin and weak, but she is really good at cooking.

"alright."

As soon as Jiang Yingying finished speaking, Aunt Lanhua and Aunt Xiujuan hurried forward. "Okay, okay? I'll do it, I'll serve it."

"Xiao Jiang, don't worry, we can just do the serving."

Each of them brought a dish, while on the other side, Dong Jianbin set up the small table that they usually used to eat in the kitchen after work.

"It smells so good." Master Zhu exclaimed.

"Well, Xiao Jiang, let's try the dishes you cooked first." Master Yang came to the table at some point, holding a pair of chopsticks in his hand.

Seeing this, Master Zhu next to him immediately turned around and got the bowl and chopsticks.

By the time Aunt Lanhua and the others reacted, Master Yang and Master Zhu had already started commenting on the food while eating.

In this kitchen, the third person to taste Jiang Yingying's cooking was Director Yang, who had been silent from the beginning.

"Hey, hey, hey, please leave some for me to taste."

The scene was chaotic for a while. When the plate was clean and only the soup was left, Chef Yang coughed twice, trying to calm down the people who were fighting for the remaining soup.

"Don't fight over it. Leave the juice for me. I'll use it to soak my rice at noon."

"No, I also want to eat soup and rice at noon."

"Cough cough!" Master Yang coughed twice again, but the people over there acted as if they didn't hear him.

Secretary Yang was itching to get some. If she wasn't a cafeteria staff member, she would have also wanted to go down and grab it.

"I'm telling you guys, Xiao Jiang will be our colleague in the future, why are you fighting over there? Aren't you afraid of being laughed at by Xiao Jiang?"

"Master Yang," Jiang Yingying's eyes widened with joy and excitement, "Thank you, Master Yang!"

Seeing Master Yang nodding slightly, Jiang Yingying looked at Secretary Yang with a smile, "Thank you, Sister Yang too!"

Finally, she said, "Everyone likes my craftsmanship. If you like it, I will make more different things for you in the future." Jiang Yingying winked playfully, "Of course, my craftsmanship is definitely not as good as Master Yang's."

"Yes, yes, that's great." Aunt Lanhua and others echoed.

Master Zhu said jokingly, "Xiao Jiang, it's great that you can come. I'm almost tired of eating my and Lao Yang's cooking."

"Go away," Master Yang said, "I haven't even started to dislike you yet, but you're already disliking me."

Seeing everyone talking and laughing, Jiang Yingying also smiled embarrassedly.

Seeing that there was nothing else for her to do here, Secretary Yang stood up and prepared to leave.

"Master Yang, I'll go see Sister Yang off."

Master Yang nodded. "Okay, go and see her off. There's nothing to do in the kitchen right now, so don't worry."

Jiang Yingying and Secretary Yang walked all the way to the cafeteria door. "Xiao Jiang, there's no need to see you off. Go back quickly. Today is your first day at work. Work hard. I'm counting on you."

"Thank you, Sister Yang. I will do my best. Don't worry."

"Okay, don't send me off. My uncle and his family are all very nice people. If you don't understand something, just ask them boldly."

"I know, Sister Yang."

After saying goodbye to Secretary Yang, Jiang Yingying turned back to the kitchen. Secretary Yang and others were indeed very nice, and Jiang Yingying liked this working atmosphere very much.

When they were free, Aunt Lanhua and Aunt Xiujuan chatted casually. Sometimes they talked about normal family matters, but suddenly they would talk about all kinds of gossip.

Master Yang and Master Zhu were testing the cooking skills of their apprentices. Jiang Yingying was surrounded by Aunt Lanhua and Aunt Xiujuan.

The two aunts didn't need Jiang Yingying to join their conversation. When they were chatting excitedly, they sometimes even forgot that Jiang Yingying was among them.

Therefore, during the half hour she sat in the cafeteria, Jiang Yingying heard a lot of gossip about the family compound that she had never heard before.

When it was almost time to prepare lunch, everyone, no matter what they were doing, stood up seriously and went back to the kitchen to work.

There is no fixed menu in the cafeteria; it depends mainly on the ingredients and the mood of the chefs.

But Master Yang and Master Zhu have worked in the canteen for many years, and they basically have a plan of what dishes to prepare every day. The menu will only fluctuate if they are in a particularly good or bad mood that day.

The cafeteria lunch and dinner will have ten dishes, two soups or snacks.

As for midnight snack, there is none.

As for breakfast, there are usually only two old things: white porridge/salty porridge and steamed buns/steamed buns, and occasionally there will be rare things like fried dough sticks or sesame balls that are hard to come by.

Jiang Yingying came to fill the vacancy left by Chef Shao. Chef Yang and Chef Zhu, who had tried her cooking once, were very confident in her.

For her first meal working in the cafeteria, Master Yang and Master Zhu each prepared eight dishes and one soup, and Jiang Yingying was responsible for the remaining two dishes and one soup.

Master Zhu also asked one of his apprentices to help Jiang Yingying, while Aunt Lanhua and the others had already started to simply wash and prepare the vegetables.

"Xiao Jiang, there aren't so many requirements for the dishes. Just decide based on the ingredients." said Master Yang.

Master Zhu also echoed from the other side, "Yes, the soldiers have been training hard, so making something large and filling will generally not go wrong."

Jiang Yingying nodded. She looked around at the ingredients and made a decision.

"Uncle Yang, Uncle Zhu, I'm going to make three fresh vegetables, bitter melon stuffed with meat, and hot and sour soup for lunch."

"Okay, as long as you have an idea in your mind." Master Yang replied, and he was already busy preparing.

Seeing this, Jiang Yingying didn't plan to delay.

She and Master Zhu's apprentice, his youngest son Zhu Quan, also began to prepare.

Master Yang and Master Zhu exchanged glances while taking a break from their work. The little girl was pretty good. It seemed that they could finally get rid of the busy work that Shao had to do after he returned to his hometown.
