After Ning Xiyue finished preparing the filling, she glanced at her second brother who was sitting at the table rolling out dough. There were not many sheets of dough in front of him, which was not enough for her to roll quickly. So she washed her hands and walked out.
"Brother, the filling is ready. I'll wait for you to roll out more dough to start wrapping. I'll go take a walk over to Ye Chu first."
Ning Qingyuan raised his head, glanced at the pots of stuffing on the stove, and nodded, "Okay, go ahead. I'll roll some more and call you back."
With so much filling he needs to roll it out more and add flour and dough.
Ning Xiyue walked to the kitchen next door with her hands behind her back to visit her neighbors.
Next door, Chen Yechu, Yu Zhiyu and Liu Yao were sitting at the kitchen door working.
Similarly, Yu Zhiyu was rolling out the dough, while Chen Yechu and Liu Yao were wrapping them. They were faster than Ning Xiyue and had already wrapped more than ten dumplings.
"Ye Chu, what kind of filling do you use in the dumplings?" Ning Xiyue walked in with a smile on her face.
Chen Yechu looked up and saw Ning Xiyue coming over. He stood up and waved at her with a smile: "Xiyue, come here quickly. I made some carrot and pork filling, leek and pork filling, and leek and egg filling. How are yours? What fillings did you use?"
Hearing about these three fillings that were completely different from hers, Ning Xiyue's eyes rolled and she had an idea. She trotted over and saw three large bowls of fillings on the table. Her eyes lit up and she pulled Chen Yechu to discuss.
"Ye Chu, the fillings I use are different from yours. How about we swap some of them so we can have a variety of flavors? I've made four kinds of fillings: beef, shrimp, pork and cabbage, and dried mushroom and pork. Do you think there's anything you like? Let's swap the fillings a bit, so we can have seven flavors?"
As soon as Chen Yechu heard what the filling was, a smile appeared in his eyes, and he agreed without waiting a moment when Ning Xiyue finished speaking.
"Sure, I like all four of the fillings you prepared. Switch. Wait, I'll go get the filling."
Chen Yechu made the most carrots and pork stuffings with leeks and pork, with two large bowls, while the carrots and pork stuffings with leeks and eggs were only on one plate.
She took out two large soup bowls and filled them with leek and pork filling and carrot and pork filling. She then took out a small bowl and scooped half of the leek and egg filling she had made.
"Yaoyao, you wrap it first. I'll go get some new fillings."
After Chen Yechu finished filling the bowls, he took two bowls himself, Ning Xiyue took the remaining bowl, and the two of them walked happily to the next room.
When she reached the door, Ning Xiyue called out, "Brother, I'm back."
"So fast, I haven't rolled much yet."
Ning Qingyuan poked his head out and looked at the things they were holding with a puzzled frown.
"You roll yours, and we'll trade."
Chen Yechu greeted him and walked to the stove, following Ning Xiyue's hand.
"Look, it's freshly chopped. I bought it at the city yesterday. The only pity is that the shrimp meat is dried. I guess it's not as tender as fresh shrimp meat. But it doesn't matter. I chopped the meat into small pieces and added a few eggs to it. The taste should be similar."
Chen Yechu shook his head indifferently and looked at the four pots of stuffing in front of him with great joy: "The stuffing you made smells so fragrant, it must be delicious."
Ning Xiyue cleared out the three bowls that Chen Yechu brought and washed them clean. She used this bowl to fill the two large bowls with the pork and cabbage filling and the dried mushroom and pork filling that she made more of. The other small bowl was filled with the less-cooked filling, half shrimp and half beef, filling the entire bowl.
Chen Yechu didn't leave in a hurry. Instead, he pulled Ning Xiyue to the side and asked quietly, "Xiyue, how much beef and dried shrimp did you buy in the city yesterday? Can you give me some in exchange?"
Ning Xiyue thought for a moment and replied, "There is quite a bit of beef, but not many shrimps. But I can give you some. I also have some dried fish and other seafood here. Do you want any?"
"Yes." Chen Yechu's eyes lit up and he nodded firmly.
"I want to exchange one of your Sichuan spicy hot pot ingredients. Also, if you have any extra fermented tofu that your grandma sent you, I'd like to exchange it for two bottles. I also want to exchange it for your grandma's noodles, bean curd sheets, etc."
"have."
"And the roasted pork, do you have any left?"
“Both.”
"Okay, that's all." Ning Xiyue smiled with satisfaction.
Chen Yechu stretched out his fist and said to Ning Xiyue: "Deal."
Ning Xiyue bumped fists with Chen Yechu, who had a bright smile on his face. He pulled her to a small basket next to the cupboard, lifted the black cloth covering it, revealing a small piece of meat inside.
"It's all beef. You can choose which cut you want."
After Ning Xiyue finished speaking, she saw Chen Yechu staring at the meat in the basket without blinking, and reached in to pick the meat with a happy look on his face.
She opened the cupboard, took out the sack of seafood she brought back yesterday, opened it and waited for Chen Yechu to take a look.
The things inside were what was left after she sorted it out. It only contained various dried fish, and there was also a small bag containing large shrimps.
"Xiyue, I'll choose this piece of meat." Chen Yetu said, holding up the top piece of hind leg meat weighing about one pound.
She didn't choose much, every piece of meat was good, so to avoid being confused, she simply chose a piece of meat on the side.
"Okay, there's seafood in here, you can see for yourself."
Ning Xiyue pointed at the sack with one hand and handed a bowl of vegetables to Chen Yechu to put the meat in with the other hand.
After Chen Yechu shifted her gaze over, she excitedly selected various sea fish. For the species that were abundant, she picked one of each.
I selected five dried sea fish and finally grabbed a small handful of prawns.
"Xiyue, I'm done now. I'll go back and bring it to you later."
"Okay, no rush, take your time."
