Chapter 385 The First Flower in Life

Ning Xiyue closed her eyes tightly, and just as she was about to fall asleep, she seemed to vaguely remember that she had not been in to check on her fully automatic slaughterhouse since she signed in, and she hadn't slaughtered a pig for two days.

But my eyelids couldn't hold up, my body was too lazy to move, and my consciousness was groggy.

Forget it. Today is the first hour of the Lunar New Year. It’s not advisable to stay up too late or see blood. I’ll find an opportunity tomorrow.

I put the thought out of my mind and fell asleep in a few seconds.

The little turtle covered her shoulders with the corner of the quilt, then lay back on the pillow and closed his eyes.

The next morning, Ning Xiyue woke up to the sound of firecrackers.

The sound of firecrackers from every household started at five o'clock in the morning and never stopped.

At five o'clock, when she heard the first sound of firecrackers, she struggled to cover her ears with a pillow, and curled up in the quilt, trying to get some more sleep.

Thanks to the fact that there were no residents around the Youth League compound and it was a little distance away from other households in the brigade, the penetrating power of the firecrackers, no matter how strong or loud they were, was weakened a lot when they were transmitted.

Staying in bed like this allowed her to sleep for an extra hour, intermittently.

It was not until six o'clock that most of the members of the team started setting off firecrackers. The combined sounds of many firecrackers made a different sound. The sound was deafening and she could not cover her ears no matter how hard she covered them.

When the sound of firecrackers rang out in the Youth League Home, she was completely awakened by the firecrackers. She sat up with her messy hair, was stunned for a moment, yawned, and then slowly put on her clothes.

She felt relieved when she saw Chen Yetu, who was sitting up behind her and leaning against the wall in a daze, behind the curtain next to her.

She was not the last one to get up, as she had a roommate who stayed up with her so late.

When she finished putting on her clothes and got off the kang, Chen Yechu closed his mind and started to put on his clothes and tidy himself up.

"Xiyue, what are your plans for today?"

When Ning Xiyue was folding the quilt, Chen Yechu asked in a slightly hoarse voice.

"No big plans. It's so cold, I'll just play inside and then go to the team's house to hang out. How about you?"

Chen Yechu smoothed the messy hair on his face and said, "I'm going to town to mail a letter. If you have anything you want to buy, I can bring it back for you."

"There's nothing I want to buy, but you reminded me that I have to go check this afternoon to see if there are any packages and letters for me. They should be arriving soon."

Ning Xiyue greeted Chen Yechu, folded the quilt, hung the curtain, and went out with the thermos and washbasin.

The cold outside cannot be driven away even by firecrackers.

Ning Xiyue shivered when he suddenly walked out of the warm house.

"Phew, it's so cold."

Ning Qingyuan, who was about to turn towards the kitchen, heard a familiar voice and took a few steps back and shouted, "Sister, I'm going to make dumplings. What are you eating?"

"I eat wontons." Ning Xiyue looked over and saw her second brother and answered without thinking.

"Okay, I'll go cook it. Come over after you're done washing up."

Ning Qingyuan waved and ran to the kitchen.

"Xiyue, Happy New Year." Tang Xiaohu, who was squatting at the edge of the yard, turned around and waved with a smile.

"Happy New Year." Ning Xiyue saw her squatting where the firecrackers were set off, picking up things, and asked with a knowing smile, "Picking up firecrackers again? Why are you up so early?"

"I was so excited about the New Year that I couldn't sleep. Look, I found a small cannon."

Tang Xiaohu presented a treasure by holding a cannon that had not exploded and was still usable and handed it to Ning Xiyue to see.

"That's amazing." Ning Xiyue was washing her face with the kettle in her hand, praising her as if she was praising a child.

This was very useful to Tang Xiaohu. He ran over with a cannon in his hand, split it into two, and handed one of them to her, saying happily, "I'll give you half."

Ning Xiyue saw her expectant face looking at her, and did not refuse. She turned her body sideways, raised the hand holding the handkerchief, and showed her pocket in front of her.

Tang Xiaohu smiled, revealing his two little fangs, and immediately put the cannon in his hand into his pocket.

Ning Xiyue thanked him: "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Go pick some more. There are still some unexploded ones in there."

After Tang Xiaohu finished speaking, he ran to the location where the cannons were set off and started picking up the cannons.

Happiness is so simple. Tang Xiaohu’s happiness now is the cannon that he is looking for with all his heart.

Ning Xiyue withdrew her gaze, washed up quickly, put her things away, wrapped her clothes tightly and ran to the kitchen.

In the kitchen, Ning Qingyuan was opening the lid of the pot and putting dumplings into the pot.

"Sister, you came at the right time. The water has just boiled. What kind of filling do you want to eat?"

"I want to eat seafood wontons with shrimp." Ning Xiyue said and sat down by the warm stove to light the fire.

"Okay, then I'll sprinkle some shrimps."

The round dumplings and wontons were boiling in the pot and were cooked in a short while.

Ning Qingyuan took the bowl of wontons and dumplings and said, "Little sister, wash your hands and eat."

Finish breakfast.

Ning Qingyuan went to the town post office to see if the packages and letters sent by Comrade Ji and his elder brother had arrived.

Ning Xiyue stuffed candies, melon seeds, peanuts, and snacks into her bag, then took three bags of pastries to the captain's house to wish him a happy new year and keep in touch with him. The captain would be troubled by many things such as the college entrance examination and returning to the city in the second half of the year, so he had to maintain good interpersonal relationships and moving around was essential.

The team was quite lively everywhere, with many children playing and fighting on the streets, and many people visiting to wish each other a happy new year.

On the way back from paying New Year's greetings to the team leader, Aunt Yang Liu's family, Aunt Qiu Ju's family, and Uncle An Guo's family, Ning Xiyue met Goudan who was paying New Year's greetings to various families with his friends.

Zhang Xiaogang, the grandson of the captain, took the lead, and the others followed him. The five children were wearing clean, new and festive jackets, each with two large pockets in front. One of the pockets was already bulging. It was obvious that they had gained a lot and were happy to pay New Year's greetings.
