Chapter 32

Separated by a wall, the plan inside forces people to willingly sacrifice themselves, and during the room check, the fox demon's sharp teeth and claws have already revealed its true form.

Hu Lili's eyes had reverted to beastly pupils, filled with murderous intent. However, unlike the anger and killing intent in her gaze, she began to tremble from her legs to her shoulders, and the trembling became more and more obvious as the discussions in the living room increased.

Her eyes and the tip of her nose turned red at the same time, and large tears gathered in her eyes, rolling down her long eyelashes.

Hu Lili's narrow nostrils twitched as she opened her mouth and tried to inhale, but her mouth was completely blocked, making it impossible for her to breathe without disturbing the people who were discussing having the female lead sacrifice herself to the sword.

She opened her mouth and tried to inhale air, her usually moist lips looking unusually dry.

Even so, Hu Lili continued to breathe in small, quiet breaths, without making any noise, so as not to disturb the "hero" next door.

When she couldn't hold back her voice, Hu Lili simply covered her mouth, blocking the sound in her throat, and closed her eyes tightly, forcing herself to breathe through her nose again.

Tears, one by one, were squeezed out of the eye sockets by the suddenly closed eyes, rolling down from the inner and outer corners of the eyes.

Its trembling body slowly slid down the door frame to the ground, and its remaining three tails curled up helplessly under its knees.

The discussion in the room ended. The female protagonist had agreed to sacrifice herself for the greater good of the world, offering her life as a sacrifice to the sword. Everyone took their leave and left the room.

Hu Lili's shoulders relaxed for a moment, then she hugged herself even tighter, sobbing helplessly, her whole body convulsing uncontrollably with her crying.

Hu Lili gripped the hem of her skirt tightly with both hands, not daring to make a sound.

Hu Lili finally put her hand down after the female lead said goodbye to Jiang Li.

Her entire face turned red, tears streamed down her cheeks, and her eyes were swollen and red from being rubbed by her hands.

Hu Lili roughly wiped away the tears on her face again, slowly raised her head, her face still bearing the red marks from her rough rubbing.

In a sorry state.

Those captivating eyes...

The light that had been shining in those eyes vanished.

Although its dark brown human pupils had returned, the pupils were still hazy and unfocused when looking at people, much like a pitiful child whose precious possessions had been taken away but who was too young to resist.

But this emotion only lasted for a brief moment. Hu Lili's eyes quickly lit up, as if it were the last glimmer of light before the sun went out.

Immediately, she curled up, hugged her knees with her arms, and began a new round of trembling fear, her eyes filled with terror.

Tears welled up again, trembling in Hu Lili's eyes, about to fall but not quite.

The tears didn't fall; instead, they dried up inside her eyes.

Hu Lili muttered to herself, her eyes vacant: "I don't want to die, I absolutely don't want to die. Who would do something so stupid as to die for a human? The demon race has long said that anyone who is saved and then tries to die for that person will be annihilated, soul and spirit. I want to cultivate the Nine-Tailed Fox—and ascend to immortality!"

But when she staggered to her feet, even the fear in her eyes vanished, leaving only desolation, like ashes burned away by karmic fire.

Hu Lili's trembling had not subsided, but her steps toward the tea table were exceptionally firm.

She took out a packet of medicine powder from her bosom, put it into the teapot, and steadily dissolved the powder in her hand.

"If the sword must be consecrated by a creature with great spiritual power and no history of killing... you can't do it, it can't be you! Anyone can do it, but you absolutely cannot!" Hu Lili's fingernails dug hard into the tray containing the teacups, her nails turning white from the force.

Hu Lili was also the one who touched the Heart-Questioning Stone and it lit up.

"Okay, cut—take a break!" Zhang Xin clapped her hands happily.

Jiang Mingyue raised her eyes, and the expression on her face, which belonged to the character, gradually faded.

She quickly put down the tea tray, raised her hand to rub it, but then quickly restrained herself, gave a hurried smile, and found a place to sit down and rest.

Jiang Mingyue, her hands trembling, pulled a chocolate bar from her pocket and stuffed it into her mouth.

Controlling the constant trembling of all her muscles is not only a technical skill but also a physically demanding task. Jiang Mingyue was so exhausted that she was covered in sweat, and even the inner garment of her costume was stuck to her clothes.

"Are you exhausted?" Zhang Xin asked with a smile.

Jiang Mingyue nodded, her voice slightly muffled as she replied, "Controlling muscle tremors is too much of a waste of energy. I feel like I've already used up all the food I ate this morning."

"We'll add a few more detailed shots after you've rested enough." The footage was flawless, so Zhang Xin readily agreed.

Seeing that Jiang Mingyue was so tired she couldn't straighten her back, she smiled and asked, "You're done filming this scene today, or do you want to continue with our previous suggestion and rush to film the rest?"

Jiang Mingyue tilted her head back, letting the makeup artist touch up her makeup, and insisted, "I can continue filming after the makeup is touched up. Just let me rest for fifteen minutes. I can do it, no problem."

Actually, this part was the most difficult. The scenes that the third female lead had to film alone were all fleeting moments like "walking", "chasing the female lead", "making tea for the female lead", and "cooking with soot all over her face". They were all about quantity and no quality, so Jiang Mingyue's energy couldn't be wasted.

"Director Zhang, thank you, Director Liu, and the screenwriter for this scene," Jiang Mingyue said softly.

In the original plot, the camera should have been focused on the female lead returning from a meeting, looking exhausted, which led Hu Lili to notice something was wrong.

But now, the plot has been changed. Hu Lili feels sorry for the female lead who is saving people all night and has to attend a meeting without even having a sip of water. So he secretly prepares tea for her and wants to send it over, but he accidentally overhears that the female lead is going to show up to forge a sword.

For the lead actress, Yin Manman, she still had to film the meeting scene, nothing changed. Little did she know that the focus of this scene had shifted from her to Jiang Mingyue. She would only appear in a few shots in the group scene, completely becoming a background character in Jiang Mingyue's second highlight.

How many memorable scenes can a movie have?

Taking a 40-episode TV series as an example, there is only a minor climax in the plot on average every five episodes, and the most eye-catching scene will not exceed five minutes; and within these short five minutes, no more than two actors can give a standout performance.

Zhang Xin gave the best part to Jiang Mingyue, and for Jiang Mingyue, it was all worth it, no matter how hard or tiring it was.

Her hard work was worthwhile!

Zhang Xin pressed down on Jiang Mingyue's shoulder, shook his head, and signaled Jiang Mingyue to shut up.

The makeup artist worked non-stop, seemingly oblivious to the conversation between Director Zhang and Jiang Mingyue, and quickly finished touching up her makeup.

A jumble of footsteps sounded outside the door, and Jiang Mingyue opened her eyes to look.

Fu Qian walked briskly ahead, his face full of anticipation; Yin Manman followed behind him, her fingers gripping Fu Qian's sleeve tightly, trying to maintain their affectionate posture.

About ten meters behind the two, Fu Xiachuan was personally greeted by Director Liu and slowly walked over.
