Chapter 78

Good variety shows often need to throw out jokes.

To maintain the show's popularity, many programs have scripts.

Although not every line in "Come See Me" was prepared in advance, the post-production editing fully utilized the power of the editors. While retaining the genuine reactions of the ordinary fans, the editing created conflict and contradictions in otherwise ordinary filming clips, greatly boosting the show's ratings.

But what does this have to do with Jiang Mingyue?

The "fan of Jiang Mingyue" selected by the program team was Han Jialan. When she appeared, she had already demonstrated her unfriendly attitude through her actions.

Jiang Mingyue has no intention of developing into a variety show personality; she only needs to maintain her basic image of being "dedicated" and "excellent in acting."

Jiang Mingyue quickly dissuaded Fan Chulan, who wanted to ride on her popularity, and calmly ate the vegetables one bite after another, then automatically washed the dishes and stood against the wall waiting for the next part of the show.

Some of the other guests don't diet when they appear on the show; they just get together and enjoy the food.

After they finished their meal, laughing and joking, Jiang Mingyue stood for half an hour after the meal. She returned to the sofa, took out the self-printed copy of "Children Should Be Cared For," found a comfortable position, leaned back on the sofa, and continued reading.

Han Jialan seemed completely unconcerned about what the celebrities and staff present thought of her. She sat down in the single seat diagonally opposite Jiang Mingyue, her eyes fixed on Jiang Mingyue like a vulture waiting for her to die so it could devour her corpse.

Even those present who hadn't witnessed Han Jialan's outburst firsthand had heard about it. The few ordinary fans who came to participate in the show realized that Han Jialan was from a wealthy family and didn't dare to get close to her.

The scene had unexpectedly transformed into celebrities gathering around a dining table, refusing to leave; ordinary fans huddled together by the window, admiring the night view; on a long sofa in the living room, several books covered in book covers, their contents unknown, were stacked on top of each other, and Jiang Mingyue was writing furiously on them; Han Jialan stared intently at Jiang Mingyue without moving.

That's really strange.

At the director's prompting, veteran guest Kong Yangchun cleared his throat and said, "Sigh, I'm not eating anymore. Xiao Jiang is so disciplined, but if I keep eating, I'll end up with a big belly, and my fans will blame me."

He got up and walked over, peering at the book from behind Jiang Mingyue for a while. His eyebrows shot up, his eyes widened, and he looked on in surprise.

He reached over the back of the sofa, grabbed a book from next to Jiang Mingyue, and after reading it, he couldn't help but praise, "The notes are so detailed!"

Jiang Mingyue's body jolted violently, and she gasped, clearly startled.

After a brief pause, she quickly turned her head and saw Kong Yangchun flipping through the pages of a book. Embarrassed, she tucked her stray hairs behind her ears, stood up quickly, and, with her hands pressed against her trouser seams, replied, "Teacher Kong, these are some immature ideas that came to mind during individual rehearsals."

She smiled, her ears turning slightly red, and her voice lowered: "You know, I got lucky with the news and was discovered to be an actress. After getting close to the school, I haven't been attending classes. But even if I don't attend classes, I still have to take exams at the end of the semester, and I also have to write a final paper. There are many things I don't understand when acting, but I can get hints by reading books."

Kong Yangchun is quite old, and he has participated in almost all the ancient classic dramas that are being produced in China.

What's even more remarkable is that Kong Yangchun himself was highly educated and participated in the compilation of textbooks for drama majors.

If it weren't for studying acting, but in any other major, it would be perfectly reasonable for students to learn by reading books and on their own; but this theory simply doesn't work in the acting profession.

An actor's personal talent and a director's ability to develop an actor's performance skills far surpass the theoretical knowledge that can be learned in the classroom.

However, since he was involved in compiling the textbook, Kong Yangchun couldn't possibly be unhappy when he heard Jiang Mingyue's words.

He put his hands on his hips and laughed heartily: "Yes, nowadays kids are too focused on getting into productions, so their foundation isn't solid, and their acting skills are getting worse with each generation. You don't know what use reading books is now, but when you play more roles in the future, you'll realize that some questions can be answered by looking at trees."

Jiang Mingyue's eyes lit up, and she immediately put her hands together and asked, "Teacher Kong, could you talk to Teacher Wang and ask him not to deduct my class points? He said that the 40 class points he gets for going out to film will be deducted, and if I don't pass the test, it means I didn't study hard."

Kong Yangchun paused in laughter, then laughed even louder: "I thought you were so stubborn, but you're actually quite quick-witted."

He immediately pulled out his phone from his suit jacket, found a number, and said, "Okay, seeing that your notes are really good and you study diligently, I'll call Lao Wang and ask him to be lenient when grading your final exam."

"Thank you, Professor Kong. Please have a seat." Jiang Mingyue gave up the seat she had been sitting in and then hugged her books to her chest.

After chatting for a while and getting to know each other, it was time for the familiar group drawing process.

Jiang Mingyue, Kong Yangchun, and another currently popular male actor, Chang Rong, were grouped together. However, when it came to the fan segment, only Chang Rong's fans were selected. The remaining two were Han Jialan and Fan Chulan's male fan.

The team was suddenly dominated by men, and to make matters worse, Kong Yangchun was assigned the task of cooking tomorrow.

The atmosphere immediately became extremely awkward.

Kong Yangchun is notorious for cooking so badly it's practically poisonous, while Chang Rong is portrayed as a rich young master, and in reality, he comes from a well-off family. He's never lifted a finger since childhood, so Han Jialan can't rely on him. Fan Chulan's fans immediately chimed in, saying they only know how to cook instant noodles, while Chang Rong's female fans blushed and shook their heads.

"Thank you all for getting up early tomorrow morning to do manual labor, wash vegetables, and wash dishes. I'll pick out the ingredients for a dozen or so mouths, and you can do the physical labor. I'll cook afterwards; I can easily make six or seven dishes for each meal." Jiang Mingyue delegated the work with remarkable ease.

No one raised any objections, because even including the other team, Jiang Mingyue was still the only one who could cook.

After the work was assigned, Jiang Mingyue received money from the production team to buy food for the entire day the next day—a allowance of 50 yuan per person per meal.

With twelve people and three meals a day, Jiang Mingyue actually managed to collect a "huge sum" of 1,800 yuan.

"Wow, that's a lot! I'll treat everyone to a good meal tomorrow." Jiang Mingyue put the money in her pocket, smiled as she said goodbye to everyone, and returned to her room to rest.

The next morning, only male fans of Kong Yangchun and Fan Chulan and female fans of Chang Rong showed up.

Jiang Mingyue didn't say anything, but led them out on foot. She grabbed a middle-aged woman who looked to be in her fifties or sixties on the street and asked her for directions to the nearby morning market. They walked straight there.

Five catties of pork belly minced into meat filling, half a pork rib cut into small pieces, ten catties of beef brisket, five catties of green shrimp, two large cabbages, seven or eight plump eggplants, a few sections of lotus root, two catties of different kinds of mushrooms, and a pile of tomatoes, along with scallions, ginger, and garlic—this was Jiang Mingyue's morning's harvest.

The road wasn't far, but because they had too many ingredients, Jiang Mingyue took the main taxi on the way back.

Sitting in the taxi, Kong Yangchun breathed a sigh of relief and teased Jiang Mingyue, "You scared me to death! I almost thought you were planning to make this old man carry all this stuff back himself."

Jiang Mingyue laughed: "We haven't even spent half the money yet, we still have over a thousand left, enough for a taxi. Let's spend the money wisely, it'll be enough."

Kong Yangchun sat up straight immediately: "You bought so many ingredients, how come it only cost less than eight hundred?"

Jiang Mingyue pulled out ten bright red banknotes from her pocket: "Don't worry about any tasks ahead."

Back at the hotel, Jiang Mingyue immediately divided the minced meat into two portions. One portion was used to make eggplant fritters, and the other was wrapped in washed cabbage leaves with minced meat, lotus root pieces, and peeled shrimp to make jade-colored assorted pouches. The ribs were simply washed, soaked to remove blood foam, and then put into a pressure cooker. After cooking, they were divided into three portions; one portion was used to make sweet and sour ribs, and the rest was stored in the refrigerator. The beef brisket and tomatoes were used to make a tomato and beef brisket hot pot. The mushrooms were also divided into two portions: one portion was used to make mushroom soup, and the other was stir-fried.

Around 8 PM, the celebrities and their fans gradually woke up and came out of the room to collect their meals, only to find the table already laden with prepared dishes. Jiang Mingyue portioned the food into individual plates, ensuring everyone received the same amount of each type of food.

The aroma was irresistible, making my stomach rumble with hunger.

Even Fan Chulan, who had tried to make things difficult for Jiang Mingyue when they met yesterday, looked overjoyed as if in a dream. She hugged Jiang Mingyue tightly and kissed her hard on the cheek: "My God, after three years, our production team finally has a guest who can cook!"

Unsurprisingly, after breakfast, everyone ate too much and could only stand in the living room holding their stomachs, with no one able to sit down.

Among them, Han Jialan looked the worst.

Urged on by Jiang Mingyue to "not waste food", she finished all the food on her plate along with a full bowl of rice!
