Chapter 2
"We're going to be taking promotional photos with our intern moms later. I heard the celebrity we're working with has a bit of a temper, so remember to behave well, don't cause trouble, and don't make the intern moms angry..."
Qiuqiu sat on a chair that was almost as tall as herself. Her chubby little legs couldn't reach the ground, and she could only sway back and forth to the background music playing from the speakers behind her.
A staff member who was in a hurry passed by and glanced at Qiuqiu. He couldn't take his eyes off her.
Even though nothing was said, Qiuqiu heard a sigh.
[What an adorable child!]
Qiuqiu tilted her little head and gave the staff a sweet smile.
Then a wave of even more excited exclamations swept by.
[Ahhhhh, my little cutie smiled at me! Smiled at me!]
Aunt Tang gently tapped Qiuqiu's little head: "Did you remember what Auntie said?"
"Remember, Qiuqiu, be a good girl and don't make anyone angry. Aunt Tang, don't worry, Qiuqiu is very lovable and definitely won't make her intern mom angry~"
Qiuqiu held her head high and spoke with great conviction in a childish voice.
Of course, there are reasons for such confidence.
Qiuqiu has a secret.
—She was originally a little listener.
Di Ting is an ancient mythical beast that can discern the sounds of all things in the world.
This includes the voice in a person's heart, which is why Qiuqiu was able to hear the thoughts of that staff member earlier.
Because of her gluttony for the "source of evil thoughts," she was forced to come to the human world to digest those evil thoughts, and thus became a little girl named Qiuqiu in a welfare home in this world.
When Qiuqiu woke up here, she was surprised to find that the world she had come to was derived from a novel.
In this novel, Qiuqiu participates in a reality show about raising children, but she doesn't get along well with the intern mothers and becomes a contrasting character to the main mother and son. As a cannon fodder character, Qiuqiu and the intern mothers are eliminated early in the novel.
It took Qiuqiu several days to figure out what "children's variety shows," "celebrities," and "cannon fodder" meant in the novel.
Qiuqiu was very dissatisfied after figuring it out!
Extremely dissatisfied!!
Our little Diting cub is so fluffy and has ears, it feels so nice to touch, how could it be an unlikable cannon fodder villain?!
So when she received the invitation from the program team, Qiuqiu, who was not convinced, expressed her strong desire to participate in the program.
Qiuqiu doesn't believe she'll become cannon fodder that everyone hates!
Just then, a noticeable commotion arose at the entrance, with footsteps mixed with the staff's hushed but excited announcement: "Teacher Jiang has arrived, get ready!"
The surname "Jiang" was like a little hook, instantly catching Qiuqiu's attention. She immediately thought of the name of the woman in the novel who was destined to become her "intern mother"—Jiang Xueru.
Since Qiuqiu came into this world, her clever little mind has quickly absorbed a lot of knowledge about this world.
But Qiuqiu was still a toddler who wasn't even as tall as the dining table, so she had no opportunity to be exposed to electronic products. Therefore, her understanding of "Jiang Xueru" came entirely from the novel and Aunt Tang's constant reminders from the orphanage.
The novel describes Jiang Xueru as having a terrible temper.
Aunt Tang said the same thing.
If it were someone else, they would likely have labeled Jiang Xueru as having a "bad temper," being "difficult to get along with," or being "not a good person" before even meeting her.
But Qiuqiu is different.
Qiuqiu prefers to personally understand and judge whether a person is good or bad.
Listen carefully to discern all things, including the good and evil of people.
Qiuqiu can tell at a glance whether a person's soul is good or evil. To put it more vividly, the whiter the soul, the kinder it is, and the darker it is, the more evil it is.
Qiuqiu once used this method to identify a villain with an extremely dark soul who wanted to do bad things at the welfare home. After the welfare home staff notified the police, they discovered that the person was actually a member of a child trafficking gang that had been wanted for a long time.
This time, Qiuqiu also wanted to see if this supposedly bad-tempered intern mom was really a bad guy.
Upon hearing the commotion, Qiuqiu immediately jumped off the chair and, with her short legs, tried to rush to the front line to greet Jiang Xueru.
However, before anyone could see her, Qiuqiu's short, clumsy legs tripped over some of the clutter on the ground.
The production team spent a lot of money building a mini castle in the studio, and the originally flat and tidy space is now full of steps.
Unfortunately, the step in front of Qiuqiu tripped was a staircase. The height difference wasn't great, but it was still higher than Qiuqiu, who was just a baby.
Qiuqiu's heart tightened. She thought to herself that she used to climb trees and roofs every day in the orphanage. She was not afraid of falling anymore because she had fallen so many times, but it was really embarrassing!
Suddenly, her chaotic thoughts became even more chaotic due to the swirling perspective. Instead of the hard, cold floor she had imagined, she was greeted by a pleasant fragrance that instantly overwhelmed all of Qiuqiu's senses.
Qiuqiu stumbled into a warm hug.
When she looked up again, she saw the person who had caught her.
The first thing you see is its rare pure white color.
Qiuqiu had only seen such a pure soul once before, when it was the headmistress of their orphanage.
Strangely, amidst this purity, she keenly sensed a slight discord.
It seems as if something is quietly slipping away, as if an invisible force is stealing away the fortune that should have been abundant.
Qiuqiu was about to take a second look, but once she did, she couldn't take her eyes off it.
Her fair complexion and slender eyebrows added a touch of coldness to her already angular face, but her captivating peach blossom eyes made people want to get closer to her.
This exquisitely beautiful yet seemingly contradictory face unexpectedly balances aloofness and glamour perfectly, making it unforgettable at first glance.
As a furry creature who is naturally drawn to aesthetics, Qiuqiu had only one thought at this moment.
—This super beautiful girl is so gorgeous, I'm going to devour her!
"Oh my god! Qiuqiu! Teacher Jiang!" Aunt Tang exclaimed. She was the first to rush over and quickly checked on the two of them.
Only then did everyone realize that in the critical moment, Jiang Xueru was actually some distance away from Qiuqiu. She rushed over without hesitation, almost throwing herself away, and only managed to cushion Qiuqiu's fall with her arm at the last moment, while her knees slammed solidly onto the hard floor.
Qiuqiu was held firmly in his arms, completely unharmed.
Faint gray marks were clearly visible on Jiang Xueru's knees, and the area underneath was probably already bruised.
Upon seeing the bruise, Qiuqiu's big eyes instantly filled with tears, her little mouth twitched, and golden beans were about to fall.
"Don't cry." A cool, clear voice, but with a hint of awkwardness, rang out above him.
Jiang Xueru looked at the little dumpling in her arms with red eyes, her brows furrowed almost imperceptibly, and added in a stiff tone.
"I'm fine, as long as you... you're not hurt."
After saying that, she awkwardly looked away, as if her stiff expression of concern was just someone else's misperception.
[This little bundle of joy is so soft, it looks like it'll cry if you touch it, so troublesome... But, it's not as bad as I thought.]
Hearing this insincere statement, Qiuqiu immediately tried to hold back her tears, her little nose twitching slightly.
Jiang Xueru looked at the little bundle in her arms, her body stiffening slightly.
On the surface, she is the fearless movie queen, but in reality, when faced with such a soft, delicate little life that seems to break at the slightest touch, she is always at a loss and doesn't know how to deal with it.
Fortunately, before she could instinctively push the person away, the little girl had already scrambled to her feet, quickly brushing the dust off her clothes like a little adult. Then, she raised her rosy cheeks, looked at her with her big, star-filled eyes, and said in her sweet, childish voice:
"Thank you, I'm Qiuqiu."
"Jiang Xueru".
She deliberately maintained a calm and even tone, but if someone were to get closer, they might notice that her fair earlobes were subtly turning pink.
"Qiuqiu knows."
The little one nodded vigorously, her two adorable ponytails swaying back and forth. "You're my mom!"
The word "Mom" struck Jiang Xueru's heart like a magical hammer, making her heart skip a beat. This unfamiliar feeling made her even more lost and she dared not look into those overly clear eyes.
[Mom, Mom? Who gave her permission to call me that! ...Are we that close? ...But, the way she calls me is actually...pleasant to the ear.]
Upon hearing such a long and complicated internal monologue, Qiuqiu was speechless.
Wow, this adult is so awkward!
They're even harder to deal with than the most stubborn kid in the orphanage!!!
But for some reason, Qiuqiu just found these intern moms so interesting and cute!
She's so good-looking, has such a pure soul, yet she's still a bit of a hypocrite.
Qiuqiu loves it!
However, not knowing why her luck was slipping away, Qiuqiu decided to observe carefully.
If anyone tries to hurt this beautiful and kind mother, Qiuqiu must protect her!
Thinking of this, Qiuqiu immediately took action.
She tiptoed, stretched out her chubby little hand, and grabbed Jiang Xueru's slender, well-defined fingers.
"The previous group has finished filming," Qiuqiu announced in her soft, sweet voice, as if she were talking about some important news.
"Next up is Qiuqiu and Mommy's turn! Mommy, let's go, Qiuqiu!"
After saying that, she used all her strength to pull the still somewhat dazed Jiang Xueru towards the shooting area in the center of the studio.
The little girl's hands were small and soft, warm like a small heater, and could be easily released with a gentle pull.
Jiang Xueru subconsciously wanted to pull her hand back, a habit she had maintained for many years of keeping her distance from others.
However, when she felt that soft touch on her fingertips and sensed that wholehearted dependence, Jiang Xueru stopped moving.
[Fine, considering how young she is and how enthusiastic she is.]
Jiang Xueru made excuses for herself in her heart. In the end, she not only did not break free, but subconsciously tightened her fingers slightly, holding that soft little hand more firmly.
It must be because their little hands are so soft and chubby, it feels so good to touch them.
She felt...
