Chapter 12 Her face turned even redder

Without saying a word, he went into Yun Ningyan's room, leaving the group of educated youth looking at each other in bewilderment.

Liu Zhijun's face was extremely ugly. This peasant was having designs on Yun, the educated youth. He angrily slammed his hand on the table, startling everyone. He was so angry that he couldn't eat and went back to his room.

Yun Ningyan had already set out the food: braised pork, spare ribs, and braised fish—all three were main dishes.

Huo Junshan opened the lunchbox, and a rich aroma wafted out. Yun Ningyan was extremely excited; she hadn't had spicy rabbit meat in a long time, and it smelled so good.

Huo Junshan chuckled as he watched her big, watery eyes light up as she looked at the rabbit meat, then picked up a piece and brought it to her lips.

Without a second thought, Yun Ningyan ate it in one bite. The numbing and spicy flavor spread in her mouth, and she squinted her eyes in satisfaction, savoring it slowly.

Huo Junshan put two chicken legs into her bowl. Yun Ningyan took a bite of the chicken and found it to be incredibly delicious.

She ate a whole chicken leg in one go before slowly finishing her meal.

She handed the remaining chicken leg to Huo Junshan, saying, "One is enough for me."

She ate a few pieces of pork ribs and some rabbit meat, but didn't eat any braised fish. She only ate two bites of rice before she was full.

She rubbed her stomach, looking at the remaining rice with a worried expression. She couldn't let it go to waste, but she also couldn't let others eat her leftovers.

Huo Junshan finished his rice in a few bites, then scooped the remaining rice into his own bowl and ate it.

Yun Ningyan didn't feel embarrassed at this moment. People in this era lived a hard life, and making them waste food was more painful than cutting off their flesh.

She stopped eating herself and watched Huo Junshan eat. He ate very quickly, but his table manners were not unpleasant.

Huo Junshan finished cleaning up the remaining food before realizing that Yun Ningyan had been watching him. He felt a little uncomfortable. "Did I eat too much?"

Yun Ningyan shook her head. "Not much. You do a lot of physical labor, so you need to eat more, otherwise you'll harm your health."

She got up to clear the dishes, but Huo Junshan pressed her down, saying, "Just sit here, I'll wash them."

Yun Ningyan didn't refuse; she was willing to cook, but she disliked washing dishes the most.

Men of this era don't go into the kitchen. As a guest, he would even help wash the dishes, showing he was a good man for managing a household.

Huo Junshan paused in his dishwashing, then quickened his pace.
