Chapter 188 I Didn't Do Anything Wrong

His words made Meng Zhenzhen turn pale; her face turned ashen, looking extremely unsightly!

Zhang Hongmei, Yu Lili, and Yang Laidi couldn't help but laugh.

"Hahaha, why do I find this so funny?"

"You know what, the brigade really wouldn't want someone like her. When she framed Yun Ningyan, everyone in the brigade knew what had happened."

Zhang Hongmei looked at Meng Zhenzhen helplessly and called the others to go back.

"Let's go back. The captain doesn't want to talk right now, so there's no point in us staying."

The three of them left.

When they arrived, they sang and danced, but by the time they left, the joy had faded.

Meng Zhenzhen was alone in the brigade leader's courtyard, her face looking very pale.

But he still managed an awkward smile: "Captain, I'll head back now."

As soon as she stepped out of the brigade leader's house, her eyes visibly turned venomous.

He came full of expectations, but now his arrogance has vanished.

Like a deflated balloon.

She returned to the educated youth settlement in a daze.

When Yu Lili saw Meng Zhenzhen return, the smile she had just stopped started to reappear the moment she saw Meng Zhenzhen.

Meng Zhenzhen glared at her resentfully: "What's so funny? If I can't do it, then you can!"

Yu Lili stopped smiling and said nonchalantly, "Just because you can't does doesn't mean I can't. Just wait and see! I haven't done anything wrong."

Meng Zhenzhen disliked her even more.

But there was nothing she could do; she was no match for all of them on her own.

He had no choice but to go back inside alone.

This matter is now closed.

For the next few days, some people were still unwilling to give up and wanted to go to the brigade leader's house to sound him out.

This made the brigade leader lock the door tightly as soon as he got home, and no one could open it unless there was a reason.

Now the captain finally had some peace and quiet.

Yun Ningyan and Huo Junshan acted as if nothing had happened, continuing to read books, do exercises, and go to work every day.

Yun Ningyan never intended to become a teacher.

Huo Junshan has no intention of becoming a teacher; he's hoping to have more opportunities to travel and earn money!

That day, all the materials for the brigade had arrived.

Huo Junshan, Huo Jianguo, and others went to find the brigade leader.

The team leader and the secretary had already chosen the location.

The two men led them to the back of the brigade headquarters, where there was originally a large open space.

There are no houses on either side, and although there are a few houses nearby, they don't cause any problems.

The captain's smile never faded. He said with a grin, "Right here. The place is big enough. We'll also get a playground for the children later."

The old Party Secretary also laughed and said, "That's right, we can't study all the time; we need to balance work and rest."

When they were building the school, the brigade leader even went to check out the layout of several other schools.

There were only a few brick houses in total, and the production brigade could afford to pay for them.

He, the Party Secretary, and the accountant had already discussed how to build it and how much it would cost.

Everything was calculated in advance.

Moreover, the commune had already approved a considerable amount of money, and with a little more added by the brigade, it would be enough.

“You guys have a clear division of labor. You two, Lao San and Guo Dong, will take the lead. We’re going to build a total of six classrooms.”

"We'll also build two more offices and four dormitories!"

Everyone nodded, and the captain explained it again, describing the situation at the other schools. Huo Junshan roughly understood the plan he was referring to.

He immediately took out a piece of paper and drew out what the brigade leader had said on it.

"Captain, is this correct?"

The brigade leader took a look, then handed it to the old Party Secretary and the accountant to take a look, and they all nodded in satisfaction.

"Yes, that's it!"

Everyone started working. Since there were no tools, everything was done manually. They used lime to mark lines and build the foundation.

After the foundation was drawn, the brigade leader, the party secretary, and the accountant looked at it, thought it was okay, and decided to build it according to this plan.

The group started working, and the first step was to dig the foundation.

To prevent the construction of a second floor later, the brigade leader specifically instructed: "Dig the foundation a little deeper. It will only take a few bricks. If there are more students and it is not enough, you don't have to worry about the foundation not being deep enough."

Everyone nodded.

And so, a dozen or so men began building the school.

Every day after work, the workers would always come around to see when the building would be finished!

The children were all very happy and came to help every day.

Saying I wanted to help was really just a way to come and see what was going on.

Yun Ningyan goes to work every day, earning two work points without fail.

The brigade leader had to check on the school buildings every day, but he spent most of his time supervising the work in the fields.

Yun Ningyan completed two work points in the morning and then went back.

The captain laughed and said, "Two centimeters again today?"

Yun Ningyan nodded: "I need to hurry back to cook for Huo Junshan, otherwise he'll be hungry if I get back late!"

The captain chuckled and said, "Alright, go back now!"

Yao Qingqing saw that Yun Ningyan had left again; she had only been working for a short while before leaving.

Even her eldest uncle didn't dare to interfere.

She was actually exhausted and wanted to leave, but as soon as she stepped out and lowered her head, the captain shouted, "Qingqing, where are you going? Don't you want to work anymore!"

Yao Qingqing pouted: "Uncle, I'm going back to cook. My mother is hungry."

"Even if you're hungry, you have to wait until you finish work. Who gave you permission to leave early?"

The captain was very serious, his eyes wide open.

Yao Qingqing was startled. She felt a little wronged: "Uncle, why can Yun Ningyan leave, but I can't?"
