Yun Ningyan squatted there until her legs were almost numb.
The two had just started getting dressed when the woman's seductive voice came over, "Hey Ma Lao Er, are you done for? You've already given up after just a short while? You're so useless! I haven't even had my fill yet!"
Ma Lao Er was on the verge of tears. "Alright, alright, don't be angry. I'll make it up to you next time, okay? Once I get the money, I'll buy you some meat, and then we'll go home!"
"That's more like it!"
As the two walked further and further away, Huo Junshan helped Yun Ningyan up and rubbed her legs. These two were really dawdling.
Big Black let out a howl and returned carrying a rabbit in its mouth; it seemed it had eaten its fill before coming back.
Yun Ningyan patted Dahei's head and praised him generously, "Dahei is great!"
Big Black excitedly circled around Yun Ningyan, while Huo Junshan let out a somewhat aggrieved hum.
Yun Ningyan's lips curled up. Huo Junshan took her hand and pulled her away from Dahei. The two walked forward side by side.
The mountains were quiet, with only the rustling of leaves in the wind, which was a little eerie. Yun Ningyan gripped Huo Junshan's hand tightly and lowered her voice, "Are you going to hunt wild boar?"
She was constantly alert to her surroundings.
"It depends. If there's prey in the trap, then..."
Before Huo Junshan could finish speaking, a series of sparse sounds came from the side, accompanied by grunts and groans—it was a wild boar!
Yun Ningyan asked in surprise, "Huo Junshan, is it a wild boar?"
Big Black stood at the front, letting out low growls, as if reminding Huo Junshan.
In the blink of an eye, the wild boar had already charged over, and there was another wild boar behind it. Huo Junshan's face was full of fighting spirit. This trip was well worth it!
He was about to tell Yan Yan to stay away when he saw a blur of a figure rush into the wild boar's direction.
Huo Junshan......
He thought the girl was usually so delicate and timid, but he never expected her to be so fearless when hunting wild boars.
Huo Junshan charged in with his axe. The wild boar, wounded, went berserk and charged at the two men, but Huo Junshan was strong and the wild boar fell down with almost a single move.
Yun Ningyan was no less capable. Although she was much weaker than Huo Junshan, she was agile and maneuvered among the wild boars, making swift and skillful moves.
The two worked together seamlessly, with Huo Junshan keeping a close eye on Yun Ningyan, fearing she might get hurt.
A short while later, Yun Ningyan sat down on the ground, exhausted. Huo Junshan looked at the wild boar lying on the ground with great excitement.
Yun Ningyan's eyes gleamed with excitement; it was so exhilarating!
The two wild boars just charged around recklessly; she wasn't afraid at all.
She looked at the wild boar with a troubled expression. "Huo Junshan, what should we do with this thing?"
Huo Junshan: "I took them to the commune and had Yang Dasheng sell them."
Huo Junshan quickly processed the wild boar meat. After processing it, he carried the wild boar meat away. "Yanyan, follow behind me. I'll take you down the mountain. You go back to sleep first. When I come back, I'll take you up the mountain to pick grapes tomorrow."
Yun Ningyan nodded, somewhat worried, and asked, "Are you sure you can manage alone? Why don't you call your brothers to come along?"
Huo Junshan shook his head. "No need. Too many people would be a problem. I can just bring Dahei. I'm used to being alone!"
He used to call his older brother "big brother," thinking that his older brother had children to raise and he should let him earn some money. But his older brother said that his sister-in-law wouldn't let him do it. Since that time, he has never called his other brothers "big brother" again.
This isn't something to be proud of; the more people know, the worse it is. Even his parents don't know.
Huo Junshan led Dahei and ran all the way to Yang Dasheng's door.
Yang Dasheng rubbed his eyes and opened the door. He saw Huo Junshan standing in the doorway. He rubbed his eyes again and muttered, "What's wrong with me? How did I see Brother Huo?"
Huo Junshan said irritably, "Hurry up and process this wild boar meat. Oh, and where's the good stuff I asked you to get? Bring it over, I'll take it back with me."
Yang Dasheng then realized what was happening and hurriedly nodded, "Brother Huo, I'll get it for you."
The bag was full of things, all for nourishing the body.
He carried his things and ran all the way back. Without the wild boars on the way, he was much faster and arrived in the village in less than half an hour.
Yun Ningyan carried the rabbit back to her dormitory. Once in her room, she tied it up and left it lying around. The rabbit was still alive, so leaving it overnight should be fine. Then she prepared a large basin of water so that he could wash it when he returned.
Huo Junshan entered the village, waved his hand, and Dahei darted into the Huo family's house, while he went to the educated youth settlement.
Seeing his blood-stained body, Yun Ningyan pointed to the basin and said, "Wash yourself first. Don't go to the river so late at night; it's not safe."
After saying that, she handed him a clean towel, drew the curtains, and got into bed. She looked at her watch; it was almost two o'clock.
Huo Junshan happily took a bath. This was the little girl's bathtub, the little girl's towel, and the little girl had filled the tub for him.
As he was thinking, he felt a heat rising from below. He turned his head and glanced at the bed. The girl was probably exhausted and had already closed her eyes to rest.
Looks like I won't take her into the mountains at night next time. I was thinking of roasting rabbit for her, but...
Yun Ningyan was half asleep when she found someone else beside her. When she opened her eyes, she saw Huo Junshan lying down next to her. She was speechless. Before they were officially a couple, he would blush if she teased him even slightly. Now that they were officially a couple, he dared to climb into her bed?
That's incredibly audacious.
She tried to push him away, but Huo Junshan scooped her up and pulled her into his arms, stroking her head soothingly and placing a kiss on her forehead. "Sleep now, it's almost dawn. I'll leave before dawn, and I'll stay here with you."
Yun Ningyan ignored him and continued sleeping, but just as she was about to drift off, she was woken up by a kiss. She slapped him and yelled, "Huo Junshan! Are you going to sleep or not? You promised not to move!"
Huo Junshan clutched his back, looking aggrieved. He said, "What can I do if I can't hold back?"
Clouds and mist...
They're really pushing their luck!
"If you can't resist, go back to sleep. I need to sleep; I have to go to work tomorrow! Don't mess around."
When Huo Junshan told her to go back to sleep, he immediately hugged her and stayed still, pretending to be asleep with his eyes closed. Yun Ningyan had no choice but to continue sleeping. Fortunately, Huo Junshan didn't touch her.
Yun Ningyan slept very soundly and didn't even know when Huo Junshan left.
Huo Junshan secretly returned to the Huo family home at the first crow of the rooster.
Li Xiangyun had already gotten up by then. She hadn't heard Lao San come back before she fell asleep last night, and was about to go to Lao San's room to check.
"Mother, what are you doing?" Huo Junshan asked from behind her. Li Xiangyun was startled. She hit Huo Junshan and chased after him, asking, "Where did you go? Just got back? You stayed on the mountain all night? Do you want to die?!"
Huo Junshan looked at his mother with a grin and said, "Mom, I came back in the middle of the night. I just went for a run."
Before his mother could react, he went inside and closed the door.
Li Xiangyun shook her head outside. She felt that she was probably overthinking things. Her third son was not a reckless person. He had his own plans and ideas for doing things.
