Huo Junshan helped him sit on a stool for a while, and chatting with other people made him feel much better.
The recent divorce and his injured leg have left him feeling uneasy.
Now that he can go out and move around, he feels that all the sadness in his heart has been swept away.
When the two children saw him come out, Little Tiger ran to his father and said, "Dad, you're all better now, Dad, you're finally out."
Huo Jianguo picked up Daya and let her sit on his good lap to comfort her.
"Dad's all set. How about you take Daya out to play from now on? Did you listen to Grandma?"
Daya nodded obediently.
Seeing that her son had not lost his will because of the divorce, Li Xiangyun nodded in satisfaction.
He couldn't help but tease the two children, "Your dad will be better soon. When he's better, he can take you guys. I'm exhausted every day!"
"As soon as you saw your father, you went looking for him. You have no conscience!"
Everyone laughed along.
The courtyard was bustling with activity.
Huo Jianguo sat outside for a while and talked with the others.
Huo Junshan then escorted him back to his room.
"Go back inside! You can't sit for too long. I'll come back tomorrow to let you out."
Huo Jianguo went back inside, and Huo Junshan and Yun Ningyan went back home.
The captain didn't eat here that night either; as soon as the two left, he followed them away.
It wasn't dark yet, and he jogged home.
He was afraid someone would block his way on the road.
He walked forward with his back hunched over, and Aunt Niu Er saw him like this.
He laughed and said, "Captain, what are you doing? Someone's chasing you."
She spoke loudly, and several people playing on the street immediately turned to look at her.
The captain waved his hand repeatedly, telling her to stop talking.
However, Aunt Niu Er acted as if she hadn't seen anything and continued to speak loudly.
"Captain, why aren't you saying anything? What's wrong with you? Should we have Yan Hua take you back?"
The captain didn't want to talk to her anymore and ran away in a flash.
But some people don't want him to go home.
Yu Lili, Meng Zhenzhen, Zhang Hongmei, and others all saw the brigade leader.
Yu Lili was overjoyed and immediately called out, "Captain, wait a minute!"
As soon as she shouted, everyone looked over.
The captain thought to himself, "Oh no!"
He quickened his pace toward home, only to find that several people had blocked his way.
"Captain, how is it? Did you go to a meeting at the commune?"
"Any results yet? When will we notify you?"
"Yes! Who exactly was chosen? How many spots are available?"
They swarmed around them, and the captain was extremely anxious.
He had to get back quickly, or these people would eat him alive.
He waved his hand: "I don't know, wait for notification. I don't know either, don't ask."
He was about to rush out when he said that.
These people were not about to be let go; even Liu Zhijun and Hu Hai came along.
They also wanted to return home. Except for a few newcomers, almost everyone else from the educated youth settlement came.
Several female educated youths disregarded the traditional separation of men and women and grabbed his sleeves, preventing him from leaving.
The captain was so angry that he raised his pipe several times to hit people!
But he just couldn't bring himself to do it!
He was getting really annoyed by the harassment and shouted, "Stop it, all of you! Don't you have any manners?"
When the crowd saw that he was angry, they finally let go, and he immediately took off running home.
Once inside the courtyard, he immediately closed the gate.
He felt a chill run down his spine, realizing how truly terrifying these people were.
They're going crazy over just one spot at the Workers-Peasants-Soldiers University!
When Yu Lili and the others returned to the educated youth settlement, Yang Laidi asked, "So, what did the brigade leader say?"
Yu Lili said irritably, "Why don't you go yourself? You're just waiting here for us to do it. We've been waiting all day."
"The captain didn't say anything, just told us to wait for further instructions."
Yang Laidi glanced at Zhao Weiguo on the side. To be honest, she also wanted to go back to the city. Who wouldn't want to go back if they had this opportunity?
We have to work hard every day here, and sometimes we don't even have enough to eat.
But she always felt that Zhao Weiguo didn't seem interested in this matter at all.
She didn't know how to tell him, since they were in a romantic relationship.
After everyone else had returned to their rooms, Yang Laidi walked over to Zhao Weiguo and said, "Weiguo, why do I feel like you don't want to go back to the city?"
Zhao Weiguo paused for a moment, then laughed and said, "Why wouldn't I want to go back to the city? Think about it, there's only one spot. There are so many of us, and some of our members are even high school graduates. How could it possibly fall to us?"
"Don't get your hopes up too high, or you'll be disappointed in the end."
He quietly reached out and took Yang Laidi's hand: "Laidi, what have you thought about the thing I told you? I really don't want to wait any longer."
He said it was about marriage, and he had brought it up with Yang Laidi several times already.
But Yang Laidi always gave ambiguous answers.
He didn't want to wait any longer.
He couldn't wait that long.
This matter needs to be resolved.
Yang Laidi gave an awkward laugh: "Weiguo, isn't this fine as it is? Why do we have to get married? Besides, where would we live if we got married here? Would we have to live in the dormitory?"
Zhao Weiguo thought for a moment and said, "Aren't there any empty houses in the village? I'll talk to the village head and ask him to give us some money so we can stay there for now."
Yang Laidi shook her head and chuckled. She didn't know why Zhao Weiguo was so eager to get married!
The two had only been together for a short time, and she didn't dare to gamble.
But Zhao Weiguo was pressuring her, and she ended up spending a lot of his money.
