The brigade leader and Zhang Guihua talked for a while.
It was almost noon, and they should go back to cook.
As soon as I stepped out of the courtyard gate, I heard the sound of cars outside.
The captain's face lit up with joy: "It must be the third brother and the others who are back!"
"Changgen, go and take a look!"
"Fifth brother, hurry up and get the key to your third brother's room!"
"Boss, hurry up and heat the kang (heated brick bed)."
"Second son, you stay home and look after the kids and Hongying!"
The captain quickly made arrangements and led a few men out.
Huo Changgen was so excited he was completely out of his mind.
The Huo family had two children at once.
"That's wonderful, that's wonderful."
The group walked towards the back.
Huo Junshan didn't stop in front of them; he drove straight back to their own home.
The captain and a few others followed behind, and Huo Jianguo took the key and opened the door.
Without saying a word, he went to heat the kang (a traditional heated bed).
Huo Changgen was extremely anxious and wanted to see his two grandsons first.
But Huo Junshan said, "Wait a while! It's still quite cold inside, but it's warmer in the car."
Upon hearing this, Huo Changgen quickly called out to Huo Jianguo, "Jianguo, hurry up! Add more firewood and make it burn brighter, hurry, hurry!"
He urged, yet he wasn't in a hurry to see his two grandsons; he wanted to check on Huo Jianguo's performance in the fire later.
A moment later, he peered through the car window at the two children.
Even though nothing could be seen, the two children were still asleep, clutching their blankets.
The smiles on the faces of the brigade leader and Zhang Guihua never stopped.
Yun Ningyan woke up now.
She wanted to get out, but Huo Junshan wouldn't let her move: "You should stay in the car first! It's warmer in the car, it's still cold inside."
The fire was already burning, and the room was gradually warming up.
Huo Junshan drove the car directly into the yard.
Li Xiangyun and Wen Yingqiu were helped down by Huo Changgen and Yun Qinzhi, and quickly went into the house without saying a word.
Everyone followed them into the house.
Huo Junshan quickly changed all the blankets and helped Yun Ningyan lie down.
However, the kang (heated brick bed) was only just getting warm; it was still a bit cold.
Huo Junshan quickly poured her a cup of hot water: "Drink it quickly! It will warm you up."
Wen Yingqiu and Li Xiangyun were holding the two children, as it was a bit cold on the kang (heated brick bed).
Huo Changgen wrung his hands anxiously, and Zhang Guihua laughed, "Xiangyun, look at Changgen, look how anxious he is, he's been restless these past few days."
"He's overjoyed to have two grandsons now, he's practically going crazy with happiness."
Huo Changgen chuckled twice.
"No, no, I'm just a little excited. I've suddenly gained two grandsons, can't I be a little excited?"
Yun Qinzhi also laughed and said, "Not only are you excited, I'm very excited too!"
"Sister-in-law, let your brother take a look!"
Li Xiangyun glared at Huo Changgen, then gently lifted the blanket to reveal the child's face.
Huo Changgen rubbed his hands together, wanting to touch it again.
Li Xiangyun slapped him across the face.
"Get out of the way. Just look, that's enough. You want to touch it? Did you wash your hands?"
"Look at your greasy hands, you're not allowed to touch my grandson."
Huo Changgen wasn't annoyed; he glanced at him and his mouth stretched to the back of his ears in a wide grin.
"Xiangyun, is this a boy? Is it a grandson and a granddaughter?"
Li Xiangyun nodded.
Huo Changgen was overjoyed.
"Great! Great! That's wonderful! Now the third son has both a son and a daughter!"
"Ningning is really capable; she completed the task in one go."
Zhang Guihua smiled and praised the baby when she heard that it was a boy and a girl.
She turned to Yun Ningyan and asked, "Ningning, how are you feeling? Are you hungry? I'll cook you something."
Yun Ningyan shook her head: "No need, please sit down! Huo Junshan has already gone to cook."
"I reckon you'll be seated soon."
The others then realized that Huo Junshan had gone to the kitchen at some point.
"Brother, now that your leg is better, don't go out so often. Just stay home and rest if you don't have to."
Huo Jianguo smiled and said, "It's nothing, my leg is all better now, it's no problem."
"It's a bit more comfortable to move around now."
Huo Junshan made brown sugar noodle soup with poached eggs, using four poached eggs.
The kang (heated brick bed) was heated, and the two of them went inside together.
When Zhang Guihua saw Huo Junshan bringing over the food, she smiled and said, "Look at that third brother, he knows to cook without being told. You brothers should learn from him in the future!"
“I’ll go back and tell Guodong and Guoliang, and also Lao Wu, you need to study even harder.”
Huo Jianshe chuckled twice.
He remained silent.
Huo Junshan fed Yun Ningyan spoonful by spoonful.
She ate two poached eggs, and couldn't eat any more, but she did drink a bowl of brown sugar noodle soup.
"I'll make you some chicken soup tomorrow, take a rest!"
Huo Junshan covered her with a blanket and helped her lie down.
It's warm inside now.
The two children also woke up.
Probably because there were too many people in the room and it was too noisy, neither of them could sleep!
Its big eyes darted around, looking here and there, but it was hard to tell what it was looking at.
Huo Changgen washed his hands and held the child in his arms.
He originally wanted to touch it, but then he remembered that his third son's wife was very clean, so he held back!
There will be plenty of opportunities in the future.
These two children are really good-looking.
Li Xiangyun and the others hadn't had lunch yet, so Zhang Guihua and Li Xiangyun went to the kitchen to make lunch.
Zhang Guihua, holding the baby girl, laughed and said, "Look at that baby, she looks just like Ningning, she's so pretty."
Huo Changgen held his grandson with obvious affection.
