Chapter 34

Yun Ningyan didn't stand on ceremony with Huo Junshan; she accepted whatever he offered, as it wasn't the first time.

She mentally calculated how much money she had. She had 3200 yuan, Huo Junshan gave her 117 yuan the first time and 3568 yuan this time, for a total of 6885 yuan.

After she finished calculating, she shouted in her heart.

Suddenly I'm a rich woman! 6885 yuan, even if I don't work, I can't spend it all in this day and age.

Huo Junshan frowned as he listened to her innermost thoughts. He didn't know what a domineering CEO was, but it didn't sound as pleasant as the little girl's words. What did she mean by throwing so much money in her face?

He cherishes and loves her too much to hurt her.

He was a little dissatisfied that he was so happy with such a small amount of money. "It's not much money. I will work hard in the future, and all the money I earn will be yours."

Yun Ningyan was completely taken aback by his nonchalant tone. This isn't much money? Then what would be considered a lot?

Huo Junshan helped her stack all the money together and carefully put it into the box. Yun Ningyan felt the box was heavy; it wasn't just money, it was Huo Junshan's intense love for her.

She suddenly felt like teasing Huo Junshan, and said sarcastically, "Aren't you afraid I'll run off with the money? Won't you lose both your money and your lover?"

Huo Junshan held her hand, his eyes filled with calmness and love. "You won't! Even if you run away, it's because I didn't do enough. I will find you and love you even more."

Yun Ningyan's eyes were slightly red, her dark pupils glistening with tears. Her emotions came easily; she pouted coquettishly, tears sliding down her cheeks, "Why were you so silly? Why did you give me all the money?"

Huo Junshan panicked, his rough fingertips gently wiping away her tears. "It's all my fault. I shouldn't have made you cry. Can you hit me?"

Yun Ningyan was never loved in her past life. Her parents divorced early, and she moved from one orphanage to another. Even after growing up, she had few friends and never received love from anyone in her entire life.

She arrived here unexpectedly, only to be cherished and pampered by a country man. Her hot tears could no longer be held back and fell like pearls.

She sobbed and cried, and Huo Junshan couldn't comfort her no matter what he did, so he simply hugged her and kissed away her tears.

Yun Ningyan had fallen asleep sobbing at some point. Huo Junshan gently placed her on the bed, pulled her into his arms, and fell asleep contentedly.

The two slept soundly, but the box containing money that had fallen to the ground was ignored.

When I woke up the next morning, everyone around me had already left.

Yun Ningyan recalled what happened last night and couldn't help but blush as she covered her forehead. She sat up for a while and saw the box on the small table. Wasn't this the money Huo Junshan had given her yesterday?

She opened the box, glanced inside, and breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the money was still there. She tossed the box into her spatial storage, washed up, and went to work with Lin Mengmeng.

The work in the fields was basically finished; all the corn stalks had been cut down, and the women were helping to tie them together while the men loaded them onto the trucks.

The brigade leader, puffing on his pipe, urged, "Keep it up! It's about to rain. This is all the work we have left. Try to finish it today so we can plant the wheat once the rain stops."

The captain looked up at the sky as he spoke. The sky was overcast, and it looked like it was going to rain.

Each person gets a plot of land. Today, she and Lin Mengmeng are close together, along with several aunties, including Aunt Guihua and Huo Junshan's mother.

Yun Ningyan's back started to ache after only a short while of work. Bundling corn stalks required her to bend over from time to time, while the older women chatted and laughed together.

Seeing that Yun Ningyan kept straightening up, Li Xiangyun walked over to her worriedly and asked, "Ningning, how are you?"

Yun Ningyan shook her head. "Auntie, I'm fine. I'm just not used to it yet. I'll be fine in a bit."

Li Xiangyun wanted to tell her to go back and rest, but when she turned her head to look at Huo Junshan, who was loading corn stalks onto the oxcart not far away, Huo Junshan looked up and saw his mother and Yanyan together.

He put down the corn stalks he was holding, strode over, and wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.

"What's wrong?" He observed Yun Ningyan. He had just noticed that the girl was not used to bending over and would get up to rub her back from time to time.

Yun Ningyan felt a little embarrassed by the two of them making such a big fuss, and since she had cried uncontrollably in Huo Junshan's arms the night before, she didn't dare to look Huo Junshan in the eye.

Her face was also a little red. Li Xiangyun originally wanted to tell her to go back and rest, but she could see that she blushed as soon as she saw Lao San.

Alright!

I was worried for nothing. Looking at Ningning's expression, I don't know if the third brother bullied her. People are afraid to even look at her.

Yun Ningyan was also secretly annoyed. Why did her carefree personality not work on Huo Junshan?

Huo Junshan found the little girl's thoughts quite interesting. His mother had already turned away to do her work, and he couldn't stay there too long, lest someone see him.

He raised his hand to pat the little girl's head, but when he reached it halfway up, he remembered there were so many people around, so he rubbed his hands together and casually lowered them.

He calmly said, "Go back and rest if you're tired. I can afford to take care of you."

He spoke very softly, but Yun Ningyan heard him clearly. She rolled her eyes at him, thinking, "Why are you talking about raising animals in broad daylight?"

Yun Ningyan glared at him and ignored him, then bent down to get back to work.

A few men nearby started whistling and laughing.

Yan Hua, from Aunt Niu Er's family, laughed the loudest. He usually had a good relationship with Huo Junshan, so he didn't feel any burden when joking around.

Yan Hua grinned at the two of them. "Third Brother Huo, aren't you being too cowardly? You're already acting like this even though nothing's happened yet? If we get married, you'll have to bring him foot bath water every day!"

The laughter of the men could be heard far and wide. He was shouting so loudly that Yun Ningyan couldn't help but hear it, so she glared at Huo Junshan and ignored him.
