Chapter 143 Attending the Fu Family Birthday Banquet

We went inside.

The golden retriever then fetched the slippers and placed them beside her feet.

Jiang Ningxi felt that it was even going to use its mouth to take off her shoes.

He quickly raised his hand, "Stop!"

"Fine, since you're not too stupid, I'll let you stay for a while."

As soon as she finished speaking, Wang Cheng'an, who was hiding behind the sofa in the living room, immediately poked his head out.

"Great! Now Da Jin can play with me!"

Jiang Ningxi glanced at him, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Did you teach it, kid? It's always carrying things and picking up shoes."

Wang Cheng'an skipped over, tilted his head back, and his chubby face was full of ingratiating smiles.

"I think Dajin is very cute and obedient, Auntie, please don't chase it away."

"I'll be in charge of training it from now on."

Jiang Ningxi nodded reluctantly, "Alright, then I'll leave it to you."

"But if it ever causes me any trouble in the future, I'll hold you accountable!"

"Also, calling him Da Jin is really not a good name."

Wang Cheng'an tilted his head and looked at her, his big eyes blinking.

"What should we call it?"

"Let's call it Lai Cai! It's festive, brings wealth, and sounds grand!" Jiang Ningxi said earnestly.

After saying that, he nodded with an affirmative look on his face.

Wang Cheng'an always felt that this name... wasn't very grand.

But whatever my aunt says goes.

"Then let's call him Lai Cai!"

Jiang Ningxi raised her hand and rubbed his little head, then took out a box of packaged pastries and handed it to him.

"Go play with Lai Cai."

Wang Cheng'an took the pastries and ran off on his short legs to feed Lai Cai.

So when Jiang Yuchen returned, she saw the two people and the dog sitting on the carpet eating.

He said weakly, "Is there anything to eat? Just a bite!"

Jiang Ningxi took a piece of pastry and placed it in front of Laicai, gesturing for it to take it over.

Lai Cai obediently carried the dog in its mouth and trotted to Jiang Yuchen.

Looking at the pastry placed on the ground, covered with a layer of transparent drool.

Jiang Yuchen's lips twitched. "I don't necessarily have to eat this pastry."

He turned around and walked towards where Jiang Ningxi was sitting.

He reached out, snatched the pastry she had just picked up, and stuffed it into his mouth.

The next second, they exclaimed in surprise.

"Rong Kee's pastries!"

Jiang Ningxi rolled her eyes at him. "I think so. It was a gift from Xie Jinxing."

"No wonder, this pastry is not only expensive but also limited in quantity, and everyone has to queue up to buy it," Jiang Yuchen said as she ate heartily.

"Why are you so hungry?" Jiang Ningxi tilted her head and looked at him with some curiosity.

Jiang Yuchen said, "The director kept yelling 'cut' all day!"

"Filming just those few scenes almost killed me."

After eating several pastries, he finally spoke again.

"By the way, there's something I need to tell you."

"Old Master Fu is going to celebrate his 70th birthday with a banquet, and many wealthy and famous people have been invited. Our Jiang family has naturally been invited as well. What do you think, do you want to go?"

Jiang Ningxi replied with three words, expressionless, "Not interested."

She hates attending banquets the most; they're a complete waste of time.

Undeterred, Jiang Yuchen asked again, "Are you really not going?"

"What do you mean?" Jiang Ningxi felt there was something hidden in his words.

“Jiang Xinyao will be there too,” Jiang Yuchen said.

"So what?" Jiang Ningxi asked in return.

Jiang Yuchen raised his hand and scratched his head. "It doesn't mean anything. I just thought that if I said that, you would be willing to go."

"Why do you insist that I attend this banquet?" Jiang Ningxi felt really strange.

Jiang Yuchen looked at her, and finally decided to tell the truth.

"Actually, no one in our family went, so Dad told me to go."

"But I don't want to go alone."

Jiang Ningxi found it amusing; so that's how it was.

"I'm not going."

Jiang Yuchen was very disappointed.

"Sister, come with me, I feel safe with you around."

"If you don't go, I'm worried you'll be bullied."

"That's the Fu family's territory, aren't you worried about your brother at all?"

"What's there to worry about? Is anyone going to eat you?" Jiang Ningxi chuckled.

But she quickly realized something was amiss. "Where did Jiang Yuchuan go? Shouldn't he be the one to go?"

Jiang Yuchen pouted, "My older brother said he has something to do that day and definitely can't go."

"But it won't work if none of our Jiang family members go."

"Sister, please, come with me."

A pair of big, round, watery puppy eyes stared straight at Jiang Ningxi, revealing five parts caution, three parts flattery, and two parts expectation.

This made Jiang Ningxi feel as if she would become a big bad person if she didn't agree.

I clearly wanted to say no.

But when the words were about to come out, he changed his mind and agreed.

"...Fine, I'll help you."

"From now on, you might as well just call me 'sister.' You're so useless, you need me to protect you!"

"It's not nice to call you 'sister,' it makes you sound old," Jiang Yuchen chuckled.

Then they happily started eating the pastries.

Jiang Ningxi rolled her eyes at him. "When is the banquet?"

Jiang Yuchen took a bite of the pastry and a sip of tea before speaking.

"Three days later."

Jiang Ningxi mentally calculated the time.

By then, her scenes will be almost finished.

"Okay."
