Chapter 104 The Eldest Princess's Past (Part Two)

Lin Jincheng was naturally overjoyed. He already had a good impression of the princess, so he didn't hesitate to speak up.

Unfortunately, Jiang Ling suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He was even more handsome than Lin Jincheng and was about the same age as the princess. They were a perfect match, a handsome man and a beautiful woman.

In contrast, Lin Jincheng was five years older. After careful consideration, Lin's uncle was also easygoing and unwilling to force a marriage. He went with his maternal grandfather to the frontier to guard the border.

Coincidentally, Jiang Ling also saved the eldest princess once. When the late emperor saw Lin Jincheng leave, he remembered Jiang Ling's life-saving grace, and his own princess also fell deeply in love with him.

Seeing that Jiang Ling treated his princess very well, he had no choice but to agree to the marriage.

Qin Qianluo watched intently as the scenes of the past unfolded on the screen, her heart filled with countless emotions. "Truly, the falling flowers are willing, but the flowing water is heartless."

Fortunately, my uncle later found a good match, and the couple lived happily together, and he did not die alone.

My aunt is a kind and gentle person. She has taken good care of my maternal grandparents all these years. She has really worked hard.

When I have the chance in the future, I will definitely go with my mother to the frontier to visit my maternal grandfather's family.

However, Jiang Ling went to great lengths to marry the eldest princess, so what did he do afterwards, and why was he divorced?

Ning Shuyao's gaze was fixed on the light screen above Qin Qianluo's head, her thoughts somewhat dazed as she drifted into distant memories.

She had always regarded Lin Jincheng as an older brother and had never developed romantic feelings for him.

Fortunately, Lin Jincheng is now living a happy and harmonious life; otherwise, I would definitely feel guilty and unable to let go of the guilt.

In previous years, when she traveled, she also visited the frontier to see General Lin, and at that time she also met Lin Jincheng's wife.

That was truly a gentle and virtuous woman; it was a blessing from heaven that Lin Jincheng was able to find such a wonderful wife.

As her thoughts returned and her gaze fell upon the image of Jiang Ling in his youth, a barely perceptible hint of nostalgia flashed in Ning Shuyao's eyes.

But in an instant, those unbearable memories of the past surged in like a tidal wave, instantly drowning out that warmth and replacing it with a chilling coldness and resolute determination.

In the imperial court, many veteran officials were also reminded of their long-forgotten memories, recalling the grand and extravagant wedding banquet of yesteryear.

At that time, red candles were lit and guests filled the house; everyone said it was a match made in heaven.

Who could have predicted that it would end in such a tragic fall apart, with everyone looking at each other and shaking their heads in dismay?

The Emperor and the two princes also turned their gazes to their younger sister, their eyes filled with worry and heartache.

They felt nothing but disgust at the mention of Jiang Ling. Their own princess was so outstanding, and it was Jiang Ling's fault for being blind and unlucky to lose her.

However, they were not very clear about the details of those grudges and grievances from back then. They only knew that the princess was in great pain during that time, her body became increasingly weak, and she was bedridden for a long time.

Later, she divorced her husband and secluded herself in the princess's residence, spending her days in despair.

After being divorced, Jiang Ling felt ashamed and resigned from his post, returning to his hometown in despair and disappearing completely from the bustling capital.

At that time, the streets and alleys of the capital were like a noisy, bustling giant stage, where all sorts of people took turns performing.

Rumors about the eldest princess spread like wildfire in spring, flying everywhere without restraint, and were described in vivid detail and with great accuracy.

The storyteller in the teahouse stood on the high platform and clapped his hands together with a striking "smack," instantly piquing everyone's interest.

They tell those stories, which are hard to distinguish between true and false, and are often embellished, in a way that is dramatic and gripping.

The tea drinkers were leisurely fanning themselves with folding fans, squinting their eyes, and chatting amongst themselves.

They commented freely, gossiped, and spoke with spittle flying everywhere, as if they were all witnesses to this royal secret.

Those vile rumors, like sharp steel thorns coated with poison, pierced straight into the hearts of the Emperor and the two princes.

The pain made their blood boil, their whole bodies tremble, and their faces instantly turned so dark they looked like they could wring water out of them.

The three of them were usually calm and reserved, never showing their emotions, but at that moment, their anger was like a flood about to burst its banks, surging and almost out of control.

They were filled with anxiety, wishing they could immediately transform into three-headed, six-armed gods to expose those scoundrels who spread rumors and spoke recklessly.

They should be severely punished, stripped bare, to restore my imperial sister's pure and spotless reputation.

Ke Ning Shuyao has been stubborn and has a strong sense of self-esteem since childhood. When she was slandered and defamed, she swallowed all her grievances, bitterness, shame and indignation.

He pressed his lips tightly together, as if locked by an unbreakable lock, refusing to utter a single word.

No matter how others gently plead or subtly persuade her, or earnestly guide and advise her, or even if they try to move her with tears in their eyes.

She remained tight-lipped, preventing anyone from getting even a single extra word of explanation from her.

The Emperor and the two princes looked at their younger sister's increasingly haggard and thin face, her eyes sunken and filled with loneliness and sorrow. Their hearts ached as if pierced by a thousand arrows, yet they were helpless.

He paced back and forth in a panic, his shoes almost burning with fire. He had nowhere to vent his anger, which was trapped in his chest as if it were about to explode at any moment.
