Then, they glanced in the direction Ning Shuyao and Ning Yu had left.
Qin Qianluo narrowed her eyes slightly, her gaze like that of a keen hunter, trying to capture the "story" about to unfold inside the tightly closed door.
Mu Yunxi pursed her lips slightly, a confident smile on her face, as if she already knew the outcome of this "confrontation" between the siblings.
Soon, they turned around and threw themselves into their busy command work.
Qin Qianlu stood tall and straight on the high platform of the dock, the sunlight shining on her and outlining her resolute features.
Her voice was clear and strong as she methodically directed the soldiers to move the provisions and supplies onto the ships: "Everyone, move quickly and watch your step, don't bump into anything!"
First, move the provisions to the bow of the ship and arrange them neatly!
As she spoke, she pointed in the direction of the ship, her eyes firm and focused, not missing a single detail.
Mu Yunxi moved gracefully among the soldiers, her movements as light and agile as a fish.
She frequently helped adjust the transport route to avoid congestion.
They would also gently comfort the soldiers who were a little tired from the heavy work: "Hang in there a little longer, let's work harder and we'll finish soon!"
The soldiers lifted heavy sacks of rations, their steps steady, chanting in unison, "One, two, one, two..."
The shouts were powerful and resonant, as if they gathered the strength of everyone, echoing in the air above the dock.
They moved in an orderly fashion between the dock and the ships, creating a bustling and lively scene.
The cacophony of voices, footsteps, and waves crashing against the pier blended together to create a busy yet vibrant symphony of labor.
Sweat dripped from the soldiers' foreheads onto the ground, quickly evaporating and leaving only faint sweat stains as a testament to their hard work.
In the makeshift room on the other side, the atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe, as if an invisible boulder was weighing heavily on Ning Shuyao's heart.
Ning Yu's face was full of anger, and the veins on his forehead bulged like angry little snakes.
His eyes seemed to spit fire as he stared intently at Ning Shuyao, his gaze seeming to burn her.
Ning Shuyao stood at the door, her body slightly trembling, like a frightened fawn.
She unconsciously gripped the hem of her clothes with both hands, twisting it into a pretzel shape, her fingertips turning white from the force.
Her eyes darted around, then she stared at the roof beams, whose patterns seemed to suddenly transform into mysterious designs, drawing her gaze.
She glanced at the bricks on the ground, as if she could find some solace in those cold, hard stones, but she dared not meet Ning Yu's angry gaze.
She knew in her heart that her second brother was truly enraged this time. Even when she was mischievous and willful, she had never seen him so angry.
Seeing his younger sister's expression, Ning Yu knew exactly what she was thinking.
The thought that she had actually followed the army here and even dared to go on the expedition fueled his anger, making it burn even more fiercely.
He suddenly raised his right hand, making a whooshing sound, as if to slam it heavily on the table, as if to vent his anger, worry, and helplessness through this slam.
However, the raised arm suddenly stopped in mid-air, as if it were being tightly gripped by an invisible hand.
His hand trembled slightly in the air, his fingertips turning slightly red with anger.
After a moment, he took a deep breath, his chest heaving violently, trying to suppress the surging emotions within him.
A hint of struggle and helplessness flashed across her face; her eyes held both love for her younger sister and frustration and anger at her sister's willful behavior.
Finally, he reluctantly picked up the teacup on the table and drank it all in one gulp.
The scalding tea flowed down his throat, bringing a burning sensation, but it also slightly calmed the anger in his heart.
He slowly put down his teacup, which clattered against the table with a crisp sound that seemed particularly abrupt in the quiet and oppressive room, like a thunderclap breaking the silence.
He then spoke, his voice trembling slightly with anger, carrying an undisguised question: "Ning Shuyao, how dare you!"
What, you actually dare to dream of going to war with the army? Do you know what that means? On the battlefield, swords and spears have no eyes; a slight mistake could cost you your life!
What was the Emperor thinking? Why did he allow you to come along?
The air in the room seemed to burn with his anger, and every breath was filled with tension.
It felt like being inside a steamer, making every breath difficult.
Ning Shuyao panicked and unconsciously touched her nose with her fingers. The action had a touch of playful charm that she was used to, but it also revealed her guilt at being caught red-handed.
Her mind raced as she tried to figure out how to appease her second brother, and the smile on her face instantly turned into a fawning one.
Her eyes were already beautiful, and now they were blinking, just like a lively little deer in spring.
She looked at Ning Yu with an innocent and affectionate gaze, hoping that her obedient appearance would soften her second brother's heart.
Looking back on the days when she had to beg her third brother to allow her to join the army, it was truly a tough battle.
When the third prince first heard her idea, his face immediately darkened. He put on a stern face and refused seriously, his tone leaving no room for doubt, as if he were saying something that was absolutely impossible.
But Ning Shuyao has an indomitable spirit, so she can't give up so easily.
The next morning, she carried the pastries she had made herself and skipped and hopped to her third brother's palace.
