Chapter 5: Conferred the Rank of Eight Official

The Vice Minister of War and Grand Tutor Yu trembled. It was all over. The Vice Minister of War, in particular, glared at Qin Qianluo with eyes that seemed to spit fire. Several military officers silently blocked Qin Qianluo. The Emperor looked at the two of them and sneered. Prime Minister Qin glared at the Vice Minister of War.

"I thought Grand Tutor Yu's corruption was bad enough, but this Vice Minister of War has embezzled even more. He's embezzled far more than even Heshen, the greatest corrupt official of all time."

"Not only that, this Vice Minister of War also has a private army and is preparing to rebel. He himself is quite skilled in combat, but he's good at disguising himself, so no one knows how good he is. If the emperor confiscates their property, they'll have money and even a gold mine."

"He wants to rebel? That's quite an ambition. When we get back, tell me the location of the gold mine and all his other properties. I'll write it down for my father, and he'll give it to the Emperor."

"Good treasure"

When everyone heard that the Vice Minister of War was quite skilled in martial arts, several generals surrounded him. A young general stepped in and immobilized the Vice Minister to prevent him from suddenly attacking others. The Vice Minister was furious. Damn Qin Qianluo, how did she know everything? She deserves to be killed.

The Emperor was also shocked that there were private soldiers. Fortunately, there was the Qin family girl. He exchanged a glance with Qin and felt relieved. Thank goodness, thank goodness we knew in advance.

After the court session, Qin Qianluo hurriedly led Prime Minister Qin back to the mansion, unaware that the crowd who should have left with them were watching the two with cold smiles. The Minister of Revenue, in particular, was overjoyed. Now that the national treasury was full, he felt more confident. He could provide grain and disaster relief without having to be stingy. The Emperor ordered the two to be thrown into the imperial prison, awaiting a note from the Qin family girl, so that their property could be confiscated and they could be executed.

As soon as Qin Qianluo returned to her courtyard, she locked herself in her study and had 001 tell her about the gold mine, where they hid their money, and the location of their private soldiers. She made sure to write everything down. When the guards and servants weren't paying attention, she tied a stone to the paper and threw it into Prime Minister Qin's study. Only after watching her father pick up the note did she feel relieved and return to her courtyard to read a book.

Prime Minister Qin took the note, glanced at it, and was shocked. There was far too much. He dared not delay and hurriedly went to the palace, giving the note to the Emperor who had been waiting for a long time. After reading it, the Emperor's face turned ashen, and he ordered the confiscation of the property. He sent people to seize the gold mine and the private army. In order to prevent Qin Qianluo from noticing anything, he specially rewarded Prime Minister Qin with a lot of things, asking him to find an opportunity to give them to Qin Qianluo. He could not give them directly, lest he give himself away.

Qin Qianluo finished reading her book, stretched, and prepared to take a nap when she suddenly heard 001 say, "Luo Bao, I'm about to level up. It'll take about twelve hours. Take good care of yourself."

Qin Qianlu nodded, then asked with some confusion, "How did you level up so quickly?"

"I don't know. Maybe we passed a note to Uncle Qin, and he gave it to the Emperor, exposing those two corrupt officials."

Qin Qianluo nodded thoughtfully. 'The Emperor is quite fast. So that's how you level up?'

"That's possible, Luo Bao. After I level up, let's catch more corrupt officials, then I'll have even more functions."

Qin Qianluo nodded and told 001 to upgrade. She then lay down on the soft couch and fell asleep. In the evening, her maid woke her up. She groggily ate dinner and returned to her courtyard. She was no longer sleepy and was a little bored. Remembering that she had learned some simple ways to make cold weapons in her previous life, she asked a servant to find some wood. She tinkered with a decent crossbow in her room, whittled a few wooden arrows, tested the accuracy, and was quite satisfied. Now that the materials were limited, she couldn't expect too much. It was just something to pass the time and practice her skills.

Just then, a sound came from outside the courtyard. It sounded like assassins had entered and were fighting with the guards. Qin Qianluo was startled and went to the door to take a look. There were about a dozen men in black, who looked to be highly skilled in martial arts. Fortunately, she had the help of the guards. Qin Qianluo quickly picked up her crossbow, aimed at one of the men in black, and fired a wooden arrow. The man in black fell to the ground. Qin Qianluo came out of the house and aimed at the second man in black. When Qin Xiang saw Qianluo come out, he was worried and quickly knocked away the person in front of him. He flew to Qin Qianluo's side to protect her. Seeing that she was holding a strange weapon, he knew that now was not the time to ask questions and focused on protecting her. Qin Qianluo didn't have many wooden arrows left. Seeing that the men in black were at a disadvantage, she put away her crossbow. A moment later, all the men in black fell down. She looked at her father.

"Father, what's going on? Are they here to kill me?"

Qin Xiang's expression wasn't good. Hearing his daughter's question, he patted her head and comforted her with a smile, "Don't be afraid, Luo'er. Dad's here. We'll have someone investigate later."

Qin Qianluo nodded upon hearing this, and Qin Xiang then asked, "What weapon is Luo'er holding? How can it fire arrows continuously?"

Qin Qianluo glanced at the crossbow in her hand and said with a smile, "This is also a crossbow, but I modified it so it can fire ten arrows in succession. If you like it, Father, take it first. I'll make another one tomorrow; it's not difficult."

As she spoke, Qin Qianluo handed the crossbow to Qin Xiang. Qin Xiang accepted it without any formality with his daughter. He thought that Luo'er must have learned how to make weapons in her previous life. He was both happy and heartbroken. He wondered what Luo'er had done in her previous life, and how hard it must have been for her to learn how to make weapons. Yet he was also very proud. His daughter was indeed capable. He smiled and said, "Then I'll accept it. Thank you, Luo'er."

Qin Qianlu waved her hand, watched as Prime Minister Qin put away the crossbow, and instructed the guards to tidy up the courtyard. She then turned and went back to her room to rest.
