Chapter 631 Willing to Accept It

A gentle yet undeniably powerful voice rang out again, clear and distinct, like morning dew dripping onto jade.

Every word seemed to carry the weight of starlight, clearly reaching Qin Qianluo's ears: "Qin Qianluo, you have accumulated a great deal of merit, yet you cannot escape the entanglement of killing karma, and now you have even committed the act of murdering the heavens."

Although I understand the reasons for your actions, under the rules of Heaven, some punishment is always necessary. Are you willing to accept it?

Before Qin Qianluo could even speak, Xin Ziming had already bristled. She sprang up from the chaise longue.

Her originally languidly hanging silver hair suddenly spread out like a waterfall stirred up by a strong wind, bringing with it fragments of silver light, while nine fluffy fox tails behind her swept restlessly.

The fur at the tip of its tail stood on end, like a beast whose tail had been stepped on.

His pair of fox-like eyes, as clear as glass, widened, the corners of his eyes slightly upturned with anger, his expression icy: "What nonsense are you spouting, you old man!"

What wrong has Qianluo done? When she wielded her sword, the blade always avoided the innocent; how could she have harmed anyone who shouldn't have been hurt?

"But you, feigning ignorance while knowing the truth, are you perhaps trying to protect that distorted and corrupt Heavenly Way, and instead bully those I'm protecting?"

Seeing Xin Zimo's tense demeanor, with even her spiritual energy fluctuating, Qin Qianluo felt a slight sheen of sweat on her forehead.

Even though the Heavenly Dao before them remained gentle in tone and did not even furrow its brow.

But the oppressive force originating from the very source of heaven and earth was like an invisible mountain, pressing heavily on her heart, making her unconsciously slow down her breathing.

She quickly stepped forward and gently pressed Xin Ziming's slightly trembling shoulder.

The warmth of her palm seeped through the fabric, carrying a soothing force—she knew this fox's nature all too well; it was fiercely protective of its own.

At this moment, it seems to have truly lost its temper, as even the tip of its tail is sparking.

Despite being bombarded with a barrage of questions from Xin Ziming, the Heavenly Dao above remained calm and composed.

A barely perceptible hint of indulgence flashed in his eyes, as if he were looking at a small, ruffled animal.

He recalled that when the little fox first transformed into human form, in order to snatch the largest twin lotus in the Jade Pool, it had actually set fire to a corner of the glazed tiles in His palace with foxfire.

The whole divine realm was thrown into chaos, and in the end, He smiled and offered lotus seeds to appease everyone.

Now, he's merely jumping up and down, having already toned down much of his aggression.

His voice remained as gentle as a spring breeze across a lake, and even the surrounding floating clouds seemed to be softened by his voice.

"You little fox, you can't keep your temper in the end. Don't you know my temperament?"

He paused, then turned his gaze to Qin Qianluo, his eyes filled with an all-knowing understanding, as if he could see through the patterns deep within her soul.

"Although your friend did not harm the innocent, the Heavenly Dao of that world did indeed deserve its punishment, but it is still the Heavenly Dao after all."

Even though she has perished, her divine power still remains in the world. If Qin Qianluo does not purify the sins of killing within her, it will be a terrible thing for her—you wouldn't want to see her suffer a miserable and tragic next life, would you?

Once the sins of killing are purified, the power of the Heavenly Dao will naturally dissipate.

He looked at Xin Zimo, who was still glaring at him angrily, and added a hint of coaxing and indulgence to his tone, as if he were soothing a cat with its fur standing on end.

"Don't worry, she has accumulated a lot of merit and would never harm your friend."

The voice that reached my ears was as gentle as jade dew that had been steeped in a thousand years of time, not like the majesty of a god, but rather like the kind-faced old man in the neighborhood.

On a spring afternoon, chatting idly while fanning oneself with a palm-leaf fan, every word is wrapped in a warm and cozy atmosphere, sliding into the heart through the ear.

The anxiety that had just arisen due to the unknown punishment was quietly smoothed out.

Xin Ziming's slightly pursed lips slowly relaxed, and the question that was about to come out of her mouth stopped on the tip of her tongue.

She gazed into the void from which the sound came, her fingertips unconsciously rubbing her sleeve—

Previously, she was only concerned with how much trouble the punishment would cause and whether it would delay the subsequent itinerary, but she never thought that Heaven would consider things so meticulously for them.

Since this "old man" has put it this way, given his status as someone who looks down upon the world, he would never play tricks on them with such a thing.

With that thought in mind, she nodded gently, suppressing the lingering doubts in her heart, and decided to believe in Him this time, without saying anything more.

Qin Qianluo, standing to the side, was experiencing even more turbulent emotions than Xin Zimo.

The gentle voice, falling into her ears, inexplicably evoked a sense of familiarity in her, like a traveler who had wandered for many years suddenly hearing the familiar accent of her hometown, so familiar that it made her heart tremble.

She pondered to herself: Heaven's kindness towards her was certainly partly due to Xin Ziming, but that undisguised familiarity was definitely not solely due to others.

She was certain that she had never had any connection with the Heavenly Dao in her life. Today was clearly their first "meeting". But where did this closeness, which seemed to be engraved in her bones, come from?

Could it be a karmic bond from a past life, or is there some other hidden story? Countless thoughts swirled in my mind, but I couldn't find a single clue.

But now is clearly not the time to delve into these matters.

Seeing Xin Ziming's tense back gradually relax and the worry between her brows dissipate, Qin Qianluo quickly composed herself and straightened her clothes.

Facing the direction from which the sound came, he solemnly knelt and bowed, performing a standard prayer.

Her voice carried a hint of respect, yet also a trace of barely suppressed earnestness, with even the last syllable trembling slightly: "Thank you, Heaven, for considering my case. I am willing to accept this punishment."

However, I have one more request, and I humbly request that Heaven grant me this request—I wish to temporarily return to my hometown to see the one I love.

Heaven clearly hadn't expected Qin Qianluo's request to be like this—neither a request for exemption from punishment nor a request for a smooth path to immortality.
