Chapter 74 Battlefield (Part 1)

His heart was like a turbulent sea, unable to find peace for a long time. It wasn't until night fell again that, after weighing the pros and cons, he finally gritted his teeth and agreed to let Youming lead the troops into battle.

However, filled with doubt and unease, he did not give Youming the complete Tiger Tally, but only half of it.

Emperor Xuanyuan frowned and sighed helplessly. He knew that this was a desperate expedient, but how could he just stand by and watch the Tianxuan army attack like a surging tide?

In that magnificent yet chillingly majestic palace, he sat on the dragon throne, his eyes revealing a burning desire and deep lust for power.

His desire for control was like an invisible net, constantly shrouding the court. Every move and word of every minister was scrutinized by him with his suspicious eyes, for fear that someone might secretly covet his power.

He knew all too well that all this wanton suspicion and supreme authority was based on the premise that the powerful foundation of the Xuanyuan Kingdom still existed.

Once Tianxuan's iron cavalry breaches the country's borders, and the flames of war tear this beautiful land to shreds, everything he cherishes will vanish like a dream, and the power he holds in his hands will become nothingness.

On the battlefield, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense and oppressive after several days of taunts. On the Xuanyuan Kingdom's side, the soldiers on the city walls looked at the vast and well-organized Tianxuan army outside the city and felt a chill run down their spines.

The vast disparity in troop strength was like an insurmountable chasm, making them hesitant to engage in battle. They could only cower behind the towering city gates, which seemed capable of blotting out the sky, and shout in a show of bravado.

The General of the Flying Cavalry was an impatient man. He paced back and forth in his tent, muttering impatiently, "I've never seen such a cowardly fighting style. They've been taunting us for so long, but the other side still doesn't have the courage to come out and fight. This dragging on is really infuriating!"

General An Yuan, on the other hand, stood quietly to one side of the tent, his face calm and his eyes revealing composure and confidence.

This time, the supplies were more plentiful than ever before, like a solid backing that gave him endless confidence, so he was not flustered.

The Emperor initially dispatched the two of them to the expedition precisely because he valued their combination of strength and gentleness, urgency and stability, especially with the composed and steady General An Yuan by his side.

This would allow the general to effectively restrain his impetuous and rash temper, preventing the army from acting rashly due to impulsiveness, thus ensuring the stability and controllability of the entire battle situation.

The generals of Xuanyuan Kingdom gathered in their tents, their brows furrowed, their faces filled with worry. They knew in their hearts that this battle would be extremely difficult.

The disparity in troop strength between the two sides is too great, practically worlds apart. Given the current situation, there is absolutely no chance of victory.

However, if we do not respond to the challenge and simply allow the enemy to challenge us at will outside the city, the morale of the army will inevitably decline like the receding tide, and the army's morale will become as unstable as a building that has lost its foundation.

In this predicament, a general silently walked to the sand table, his eyes focused, as he repeatedly deduced various military strategies, his hands constantly moving the chess pieces representing soldiers.

They meticulously arranged various formations, chanting incantations, desperately searching for a good strategy to defeat their enemies in this desperate situation.

He knew that when the enemy challenged him again, he must not retreat and refuse to fight, otherwise his troops would be thrown into chaos and victory would be virtually impossible.

The next day, the General of the Flying Cavalry, clad in incredibly thick black iron armor that seemed capable of withstanding a thousand armies, rode majestically atop his tall and strong warhorse.

Gripping tightly the long, sharp spear that gleamed with a cold light, he once again charged forward like a whirlwind to challenge them.

At this moment, a fierce wind howled, whipping up a sky full of yellow sand that blotted out the sun, adding a touch of grimness to the already tense battlefield.

The general of Xuanyuan Kingdom looked at the menacing cavalry general outside the city, weighed his options carefully, and finally gritted his teeth and decided to fight.

He mounted his horse, which reared up and neighed loudly, as if sensing the tense atmosphere of the impending battle. The general spurred the horse's flanks, and it galloped off like an arrow, standing facing the General of the Flying Cavalry.

In an instant, shouts and provocations mingled together, deafeningly loud, and the air was thick with the pungent smell of gunpowder; a major battle was about to erupt.

The soldiers on both sides stood solemnly on the battlefield like statues, their hands gripping their weapons tightly.

Their knuckles, white from exertion, revealed their inner tension and excitement; their eyes burned with a fierce fighting spirit, as if they wanted to devour the enemy before them.

The General of the Flying Cavalry roared fiercely, his voice like thunder, and charged forward on his horse. His spear, like a dragon emerging from the sea, carried immense power as it thrust straight at the enemy commander.

The enemy commander was not to be outdone. He took a deep breath, channeled all his strength into his arms, and wielded his weapon to fight back.

With a loud clang, like the tolling of a great bell, the two weapons collided violently, scattering a dazzling shower of sparks that, under the sunlight, resembled a brilliant star blooming on the battlefield in an instant.

In an instant, the blazing sunlight poured down on the battlefield from the cloudless sky, as if it too wanted to witness this life-or-death struggle.

In the distance, the rolling mountains appeared a dark blue-green under the sunlight, and the river at their foot meandered like a silver ribbon.

But at this moment, the gurgling sound of the flowing water had been drowned out by the deafening shouts of battle. These shouts of battle were like a surging tsunami suddenly erupting, or like the thunder god angrily beating drums in the clouds, determined to turn this bright world upside down.
