Dissonance

Dissonance

Ning fell silent, while Xuan struggled to break free from Ye Qingzhu's control. He seemed to want to return to his brother's side. Although he didn't know how the two brothers communicated, Xuan seemed to be able to sense Ning's subtle, almost imperceptible changes.

“My brother and I have followed the leader since we were young, watching him rise to a high position step by step, and no one could stop him.” Ning looked up at Jiang Yingyue, his eyes fixed on the arrow. “We were originally his only envoys, until that year when Jiang Yuan led those people out to sea.”

Anger gradually settled on Ning's face: "Your father's betrayal made the alliance leader realize that the two of us by his side were far from enough. As a result, more and more envoys appeared. Not only that, but even we were put under control."

His tone was filled with nothing but resentment. Ning looked up and met Jiang Yingyue's eyes. Her fair skin looked like that of a bloodless demon, which made her feel a little scared: "I really hate you. I really hate you all. The place that originally belonged to us has been divided up and eaten away bit by bit because of you."

As she spoke, Ning recklessly kept getting closer to Jiang Yingyue's arrow: "Come on, let go! Look at you, without my music, how cowardly you are."

"Jiang Yingyue!" Ye Qingzhu's voice calmed her down. If she let go now, the arrow would pierce Ning immediately, and they wouldn't need to waste any more time. But she had a strange feeling that something wasn't going to happen.

“You must have witnessed a lot of hatred along the way.” Ning’s hand suddenly grabbed Jiuxiao. “What makes you any different from us?” As she spoke, Ning somehow found the strength to forcefully turn the Jiuxiao Bow around. Jiang Yingyue wanted to let go immediately, but it was too late. The arrow flew towards Ye Qingzhu, allowing Xuan to break free of his restraints.

Ning stepped back, picked up the guqin, and leaped to a high place with Xuan. Ning gently patted Xuan's back to tell him that she was alright, and then looked at Jiang Yingyue: "Since you two didn't like the piece just now, I'll change it."

As the music of the guqin and pipa began, Jiang Yingyue felt a sudden dizziness, and then the scenery in front of her was gradually replaced by another place.

Jiang Yingyue did not remember ever being in such a place; this must be an illusion created by the musician.

"Jiang Yingyue! What happened to you just now?" Ye Qingzhu's voice rang out, her face full of anxiety. "What did that person say to you? Why didn't you shoot an arrow?"

Yes, Jiang Yingyue clearly had the chance to kill Ning in one fell swoop, but she didn't: "This musician is very cunning. I was afraid he was deliberately provoking me, and shooting the arrow would have played into his trap."

Jiang Yingyue couldn't be blamed for this. After all, the two of them had just recovered from the infuriating music. Jiang Yingyue didn't dare to bet that it wasn't the musician's doing. Now, she would think twice before taking any step, but she didn't expect to play right into Ning's hands.

"Sigh." Ye Qingzhu sighed, "Forget it, there's no use dwelling on this anymore. Let's think about how to break this illusion."

Jiang Yingyue began to observe her surroundings. It was a beach with an endless sea in front of her, the surface of which possessed a unique, tranquil beauty under the moonlight. However, this tranquility was soon broken by a ship approaching from a distance.
