Reunion

Reunion

The Azure Cloud Sword traced a silver arc in the air, but the moment it touched the shield bearer, it was shaken by the massive black shield, which made it vibrate loudly. Each swing of the shield by the opponent carried the force to split mountains and shatter rocks, and the ground began to tremble under the impact of the giant shield. She managed to roll to the side, the corner of the shield grazing her ear, and the wind it generated almost lifted half of her hair.

This shield-wielder was seven feet tall, and his single arm was as long as Jiang Yingyue's two arms. Moreover, the giant black iron shield in his hand seemed weightless. Not only did each strike have the power to kill, but the speed did not seem to slow down at all.

Jiang Yingyue dodged his attacks, looking like an ant fleeing in panic. She truly didn't know how to escape. They were still on the second floor, and at this rate, the place would inevitably collapse, likely injuring innocent people.

As the giant shield slammed into the ground for the third time, the beams and pillars on the second floor groaned under the strain. Jiang Yingyue's back pressed against the carved railing, her clothes torn by wood chips, but she gripped the Qingyun Sword tighter and tighter—she noticed that the shield bearer's left knee trembled slightly after each swing.

"Where do you think you can hide now?" The shield bearer was indeed a man of few words. Suddenly, the giant shield swept across, and Jiang Yingyue immediately used the force to leap to the side. She saw that the other party had actually thrown the shield into the air, and then leaped up, his iron fist carrying the wind straight for her throat!

There's no escaping it now.

If he catches me, I'll definitely die.

Just as Jiang Yingyue was in despair, a familiar fragrance appeared beside her as if by miracle. Then, she saw a long sword with words she knew all too well engraved on its hilt:

thunder.

The newcomer was dressed in a light blue chivalrous outfit, with a distinctive vermilion mark between his brows, and a faint scent of laurel wafted from him. Jiang Yingyue wondered if she was dreaming.

Her sword easily deflected the shield bearer's fist, and then she immediately grabbed Jiang Yingyue's hand, leading her to leap down from the second floor. During the leap, she didn't forget to cut down the hanging lanterns, and the flames landed on the stage cloth below. Almost instantly, no one in Nanfeng Tower paid any attention to them.

Jiang Yingyue's eyes never left her face. She couldn't believe it was real. It was Ji Yinglei. She wasn't dead. She was alive and had come to save her.

At the same time, Ye Qingzhu finally arrived at Nanfeng Tower. Seeing this scene, she immediately called out at the gate, "Jiang Yingyue! Over here!"

The two understood each other perfectly and forgot about Ye Qingzhu. Without having time to say much, they first went to a safe place and made sure there were no pursuers behind them before they started talking.

Jiang Yingyue suddenly hugged Ji Yinglei, tears welling up in her eyes almost instantly: "I thought... I thought..."

Ji Yinglei gently placed his palm on her trembling back. Behind them, the flames of Nanfeng Tower soared into the sky, stretching their overlapping shadows long, almost extending back to the night of the destruction of Mingyue Sect.

"Senior sister is here, Yue'er," Ji Yinglei replied gently. "That day, I was wounded by an arrow and fell down the mountain. It was the people of Qiyun Town who saved me. After I recovered, I knew you had returned to Hangzhou, so I came to find you immediately."

Jiang Yingyue held her tightly for a long time, unwilling to let go: "It's good that you're alive. It's my fault for being useless and failing to protect my senior sister."

"It's all in the past," Ji Yinglei comforted her. "By the way, may I ask who this heroine is?"

"Ye Qingzhu, now that the problem here is solved, let's go back to the Ye residence. Staying outside will attract pursuers."
