Survivor Part 1

Surviving the disaster, Part 1

"You mean, not only did they not kill her, they might have also exposed their identities to the Ye family?" Bai Yu's words were calm, but he couldn't hide his anger. He stood in front of the white-robed disciple, so intimidated that the other party didn't dare to look up. "Useless."

The disciple was clearly terrified: "Alliance Leader! Please rest assured... those who failed in their duties have been dealt with... the Ye family may not necessarily be..."

"Smack!"

With a crisp sound, Bai Yu squatted down and slapped the kneeling man hard across the face. Then, he grabbed the man's face with one hand: "Not sure you'll realize he's one of ours? Then go and visit the Ye family now, and offer my condolences to the Third Miss?" Bai Yu became increasingly angry as he spoke, and his grip tightened, almost crushing the disciple's jaw. "Hmm? Shen Ci?"

Despite the pain, Shen Ci dared not resist in the slightest. He knew clearly that Bai Yu hated anyone who dared to disobey him, and he would risk his life for it.

Just then, an elderly physician emerged from behind the gauze curtain behind Bai Yu: "Reporting to the Alliance Leader, the medicine has been prepared."

Bai Yu's anger seemed to have subsided somewhat, and he loosened his grip on Shen Ci's hand. He slowly stood up, waved his hand to signal the doctor to leave, and looked at the other side of the gauze curtain with a completely different expression: "You heard everything just now, didn't you? I wonder if you have any more brilliant ideas?"

Shen Ci was still reeling from the atmosphere, as if he had just escaped a disaster. He dared not make any sudden movements and could only resume his previous bowing posture. Then, a faint, ethereal voice came from behind the gauze curtain: "Your people caused this mess, why should I clean up their mess?"

"Heh." Bai Yu couldn't help but laugh out loud, but he quickly continued casually, "Don't forget who I'm going to kill."

The man was silent for a moment, then sighed, "Things have come to this point, we can only be wary of the Ye family for now." The person behind the curtain coughed a few times, "If they want to investigate you, the only way is to have Jinghuatai put on a show at the Ye residence. Do you have a way to refuse?"

Shen Ci's voice trembled slightly: "This subordinate...this subordinate is afraid..."

"He's quite the star at Mirror Flower Terrace!" Bai Yu interrupted. "What's your stage name again?"

"...Changyun".

Bai Yu strolled to the gauze curtain, his fingertips lightly twirling the gold tassels. The sinister glint in his eyes did not diminish in the slightest because of this elegant movement: "Since Mr. Changyun was able to make 'The Story of the Thorn Hairpin' a hit at the Mirror Flower Terrace, he must also have the ability to make the troupe leader 'cancele due to illness' to decline the invitation from the Ye family?"

Although he was explaining things to Shen Ci, Bai Yu's gaze was fixed on the other side of the gauze curtain.

“Rushing to back out will only increase suspicion.” The curtain moved without wind, revealing half a hand. Bai Yu finally smiled and reached out to support that hand. Only then did Shen Ci see that the person behind the curtain had stood up with Bai Yu’s help and walked to the front of the curtain, but they were too far away, and he could only see a silhouette.

"If the Ye family invites you, your only choice is to go. I need you..."

"Understood, Your subordinate." Shen Ci kowtowed heavily and quickly left the place.

Bai Yu seemed quite satisfied. He looked at the hand he was holding with amusement, the hand with distinct knuckles and white skin: "Want to keep pretending?" The next second, the person pulled their hand away, then swaggered open the curtain and was about to leave. Bai Yu wasn't surprised, but just looked at the person in front of him, "You really have a heart of stone."

"We each got what we needed; in that respect, we're even."
