Chapter Ten
In the afternoon, the clouds gradually dispersed, and the sun peeked out, casting its rays onto the glass.
Today is Lunar New Year's Eve. Last night, Lu's mother called them via video to ask them to come home for a reunion dinner. This morning, fearing they might forget, she called again to remind them to come back.
A week in advance, Xing Bei asked her parents when they would be coming back. They said a few days, but two days before New Year's Eve, they told her they couldn't come back.
Although I've gotten used to it, I still can't help but feel disappointed every time I see news that I don't want to see.
The Lu family members are all very peaceful and close-knit. Lu's mother loves to study food and often learns to cook with the family's housekeeper. On holidays, Lu's mother will personally make a dish or dessert.
After lunch, the whole family gathered together to make dumplings. Xing Bei rarely does this, but fortunately, she is quite good at it, and the dumplings she made weren't too ugly.
Looking at the large table of dumplings and the cheerful atmosphere inside, Xing Bei gently curled the corners of her lips.
Their plan was to return to Platinum Hotel after dinner, but Lu's mother seemed to have planned ahead. Seeing that they were about to leave, she pulled her aside and asked her to stay there for the night.
Xing Bei felt embarrassed to refuse, so she turned her gaze to Lu Runxu, who was peeling an apple to the side. He glanced at her but pretended not to see anything.
"Sweetie, stay here tonight. It's not easy for you to come back, and Mom wants to spend more time with you," said Mrs. Lu, smiling as she linked arms with her daughter.
Meeting those bright, expectant eyes, Xing Bei had no choice but to nod shyly.
Overjoyed, Lu's mother took her hand and said, "That's right, sweetie. I'll take you upstairs to show you some of Ah Xu's old photos."
After spending too much time with Lu Runxu, she gradually realized that Lu Runxu seemed to understand her very well, whether it was her personality or her lifestyle habits, he could almost tell her everything.
She always felt a sense of familiarity with Lu Runxu, though she wasn't sure if it was just her imagination.
Xing Bei wondered what the person rumored to be a 'cold and beautiful fox' was like when she was a child. She was somewhat looking forward to seeing if she would bring a different kind of contrast to her.
She was taken by Lu's mother to the room where Lu Runxu used to live, which was quite similar to his style, with light colors in the bedroom decoration.
Mrs. Lu pulled a photo album from the top of the bookshelf, held it up to her, and slowly opened it: "These are all photos of him from childhood to adulthood. He stopped liking to take pictures after high school, and there are only some candid shots."
Xing Bei slowly turned the pages. Lu Runxu had a good foundation since childhood. During puberty, when most people would get acne and gain weight, Lu Runxu had a very delicate and handsome face.
In the photo, Lu Runxu exudes youthful energy, and sunlight filters through the trees, illuminating his hair and making him appear to glow.
Looking at the photo in her hand, Xing Bei couldn't describe the feeling. In that instant, she felt as if she had really seen him in his youth in a parallel universe.
She thought that if she had met Lu Runxu in high school, she couldn't imagine how infatuated she would have been back then.
In another photo, Lu Runxu exudes a different vibe, with gentle features, a smile in his eyes, and a tender and affectionate demeanor, holding his physics certificate of honor with his back straight.
He was almost identical to Lu Runxu now. He used to be shy and timid, someone who couldn't take a joke. Unlike now, he's mature, thick-skinned, and shameless.
She immediately noticed the date and location on the certificate of honor. It was from the second semester of her junior year of high school. She had also attended that physics competition, which was near their school.
She had pretty good grades in physics in high school, and she only went to that competition to accompany Zhou Xuzhe.
Unexpectedly, he won a third prize by accident. Zhou Xuzhe was only three points away from winning the first prize. It seems that the first prize winner at that time was also surnamed Lu.
Thinking about it, she seemed to have such an impression in her mind, perhaps she had seen it once when she was receiving the award, since her attention was on Zhou Xuzhe at the time.
Seeing that she was looking at the photos on her phone and couldn't bear to look away, Lu's mother introduced them to her: "These were taken when Xiaoxu won an award in a physics competition in his second year of high school. We knew he didn't like taking pictures, so we didn't bring a camera when we went to pick him up that day. Who knew that he would suddenly ask to take pictures that day, and he insisted on taking pictures here."
Xing Bei smiled as she looked at the photo, then looked up at Lu's mother and asked, "Lu's mother, can I take this photo back with me?"
"Of course." Mrs. Lu closed the photo album and handed it to her. "You can take these back. They're rarely opened here. It might be more meaningful to leave them to you."
Xing Bei took the photo album, her eyes crinkling into a beautiful smile: "Thank you, Aunt Lu."
She continued looking at the photo in her hand, unaware that Lu Runxu had been standing at the door for a long time.
As soon as Mrs. Lu looked up, she saw the person at the door. She was about to speak when he interrupted her. Mrs. Lu glanced at the person who was still looking at her intently, and with a knowing smile, she left the room.
Lu Runxu walked over slowly and saw Xing Bei looking at his high school photos. He smiled and teased, "You like me that much? You're so engrossed in looking at them."
The sudden sound startled Xing Bei, who glared at him reproachfully, "You walk so quietly, are you trying to scare me to death?"
Lu Runxu raised an eyebrow, unsurprised by Xing Bei's attempt to shift the blame: "Mrs. Lu, it's clearly because you were too engrossed in looking at my photos, how can you blame me?"
Xing Bei turned her head arrogantly and retorted, "No, that's not true."
She turned her gaze back to the photo album and asked with some curiosity, "Did you attend Yuhe International High School?"
Lu Runxu was taken aback by her sudden question. He stood there for a moment, his hands unconsciously clenching, before nodding and asking, "Yes, what's wrong?"
Xing Bei glanced at the shy boy in the photo, then looked up at him and said, "It's nothing, it's just that I always feel like we've met before, before we met at the Cloud Cafe."
Her intuition told her that their first meeting definitely wasn't at the coffee shop or the physics competition; it was probably a long time ago, but she couldn't remember clearly because of her bad memory.
Hearing that she asked this question, he silently breathed a sigh of relief, but felt inexplicably disappointed.
He sat down next to her and put his arm around her waist. "Really? What if we knew each other before? Maybe you even saved me."
Xing Bei rolled her eyes at him without any politeness: "President Lu, you really know how to get close to me. Do you really think I'm a hero saving a damsel in distress, or someone who helps those in need?"
Lu Runxu smiled and quickly kissed her lips: "Who knows? After all, our Mrs. Lu is beautiful inside and out."
Hearing him mention it, she recalled some of her heroic deeds in high school.
She was very rebellious and had a fierce personality back then. One day, on her way home from school, she accidentally saw a group of people bullying a fair-skinned little boy in an alley.
She helped the boy out of a sense of righteousness, and she was also very responsible. To prevent the boy from being bullied, she would go to that alley every day after school to keep watch over him.
However, she didn't see the boy again when she passed by that section of road the next day, and as time went by, she also forgot about him.
She looked at Lu Runxu beside her and covered the lower half of his face with her hand: "But now that you mention it, your eyebrows and eyes are somewhat similar to a boy I helped in high school."
"Really?" Lu Runxu stared at her intently. "That guy wouldn't happen to be your ex-boyfriend, would he?"
Why are we talking about Zhou Xuzhe again? Xing Bei looked away: "...No, Zhou Xuzhe is not as good-looking as that boy."
"Oh?" Lu Runxu leaned over and kissed her cheek, teasing her in a joking tone, "If that guy wanted to repay you with his body, would you abandon Zhou Xuzhe and choose him?"
Xing Bei stroked her chin and thought for a moment: "Maybe, after all, I'm a sucker for good looks."
Lu Runxu was satisfied with this answer. He smiled and leaned closer again, but Xing Bei pushed him away. Lu Runxu then grabbed her chin and kissed her again.
They kissed for an unknown amount of time before Lu Runxu reluctantly released her after hearing a soft cough from the doorway.
Xing Bei looked towards the door and saw Lu's mother bringing up milk. Her face flushed, and she shyly hid in Lu Runxu's arms.
Aaaaaah!
How embarrassing! How can she face Lu's mother tomorrow if she sees this?
Lu's mother suppressed a smile as she handed the milk to Lu Runxu, saying, "Remember to drink the milk while it's hot. You two continue."
After saying that, Lu's mother left quickly, making sure to close the door behind her before she left.
Lu Runxu looked at the person in his arms and couldn't help but laugh: "Get up, Mom's leaving."
Xing Bei squinted at the outside, and only after confirming that Lu's mother had really left did she crawl out of Lu Runxu's arms. She glared at Lu Runxu fiercely: "It's all your fault. You've ruined my good image."
Lu Runxu smiled and handed her the milk, saying indulgently, "Okay, it's all my fault. I'll be more careful next time."
She gave a soft hum, quickly finished her milk, and went to take a shower. In the bathroom, Lu's mother had already prepared clothes for her. When she put them on, Xing Bei was too embarrassed to leave.
Lu's mother prepared a burgundy silk nightgown for her, with a deep V-neck and a length that reached her upper thigh. How could she possibly go out like that?
If Lu Runxu saw this, things would definitely escalate.
She hesitated in the bathroom for a long time before finally taking a deep breath, clutching her chest, and going out. Lu Runxu, who was leaning against the bed, noticed her timid appearance as soon as he looked up. Then he saw her clothes and noticed that her hands, which were gripping the edge of the book, were white.
Xing Bei noticed out of the corner of her eye that Lu Runxu was staring at her, and she lowered her head even more embarrassedly, quickening her pace.
As Lu Runxu watched two pale, white legs flash past his eyes, he subconsciously swallowed hard.
Xing Bei quickly pulled back the covers and crawled inside, the movements swift and clean.
Lu Runxu put down his book, smiled, and got up to go to the bathroom. Xing Bei, still in bed, had a premonition that tonight would be anything but peaceful.
Half an hour later, Lu Runxu came out of the bathroom and looked at Xing Bei, who was wrapped up in a ball on the bed, with a smile in his eyes.
Feeling the bed behind her slightly sink, Xing Bei clutched the blanket and closed her eyes tightly.
After a long time passed without any movement, she thought Lu Runxu had fallen asleep, but she didn't expect to meet his gaze as soon as she turned around.
In the darkness, through the moonlight streaming through the window, she saw the intense desire in Lu Runxu's eyes, like a wild beast waiting to awaken.
She hurriedly tried to dodge away, but Lu Runxu's large hand reached out and pulled her over. Xing Bei bumped into his solid chest without any warning.
Lu Runxu stared intently at her, and that intense gaze made her uneasy. Xing Bei buried her face in his neck, afraid to move.
But Lu Runxu didn't want to let her go. He pinched her chin and made her look at him. Xing Bei's face instantly flushed, and she didn't know where to look.
He stared at Xing Bei's red lips and swallowed hard. He first lightly touched her lips, then slowly took them into his mouth and sucked.
He slowly reached behind her, his hand gripping her chin, and kissed her as he unbuttoned the back of her shirt.
Xing Bei instantly snapped out of her daze and quickly stopped him, but Lu Runxu continued to move his mouth.
After a long while, Lu Runxu withdrew, his warm breath hitting her neck, and Xing Bei took a step back.
Lu Runxu seemed to see what she was thinking, chuckled, and gently tapped her forehead: "Don't worry, I am a gentleman, and I will not force you until you are willing."
Xing Bei was still shyly keeping her head down, feeling very hot all over. The person in front of her put his arm around her waist and pulled her forward, pinching her chin and forcing her to raise her head.
Even in the darkness, Xing Bei knew without a doubt the emotions in his eyes.
Feeling uncomfortable being stared at, she broke free from Lu Runxu's hand that was gripping her chin and took the initiative to kiss him.
They rarely kissed, and this seemed to be the first time she took the initiative. Her kissing skills were quite clumsy, and she kissed and nibbled randomly on Lu Runxu's lips.
The person in front of her stared at her, his eyebrows slightly raised, his hand reaching around the back of her neck to regain control, easily prying open her lips and hooking her tongue.
A light rain started falling outside the window sometime during the day, and raindrops gently pattered against the glass in the breeze.
Their breathing gradually became erratic. The hand that landed on her waist accidentally touched Xing Bei's most ticklish spot. She subconsciously tried to pull away, but accidentally touched the most sensitive spot on the man in front of her.
"Are you...are you alright?" She pushed Lu Runxu away and asked worriedly.
Lu Runxu clicked his tongue lightly, smiled, and pressed his lips to hers again, saying as he kissed her, "Mrs. Lu, be gentle this time, or you'll ruin your happiness for the rest of your life."
Hearing his vulgar words, Xing Beizhen felt that her question was pointless; the scoundrel didn't deserve her concern.
Lu Runxu released her only after he had finished kissing her. Feeling something extremely strong in his lower body, he took a deep breath and got up to walk towards the bathroom.
Xing Bei gripped the blanket with both hands and looked up at him, her gaze unconsciously drifting to a certain spot, which was extremely conspicuous even in the darkness.
Her cheeks flushed instantly, and she quickly covered her head with the blanket. Lu Runxu looked at the person on the bed and shook his head with a smile.
She, who is always picky about her bed, doesn't know how she fell asleep, but the person next to her had a bad night and didn't fall asleep until almost dawn.
