Chapter 28 When to Get Married
Only when she got closer did she realize that the men were dressed in suits and the women were dressed up.
It must be a cocktail party.
At the party, some guests noticed Jiang Ning because he was the only one wearing an inexpensive t-shirt and jeans.
"My God, Jiang Ning, why are you dressed like that?"
Chu Qingxue had sharp eyes. As soon as she saw Jiang Ning, she exclaimed in surprise and quickly walked over in her high heels to stand face to face with him.
Today she wore a piece from Elie Saab's latest haute couture collection, a nude pink silk slip dress studded with Swarovski crystals, which was both feminine and elegant.

Yuan Pei was swaggering in front of Jiang Ning when suddenly someone grabbed him by the back of the collar.
"Brother Lu?"
Upon seeing that the person who came was Lu Junyan, Chu Qingxue immediately took Lu Junyan's arm.
Lu Junyan looked at Jiang Ning, scrutinizing her from head to toe just like Yuan Pei, but his gaze was much sharper than Yuan Pei's.
"Didn't you want a divorce? Now you know to come and act like the lady of the house in this kind of situation."
Lu Junyan's voice remained calm as always, and his sarcastic tone was as grating as ever.
"Her? The mistress of the house?" Yuan Pei scoffed. "I think she's more suited to be a maid to her sister-in-law."
Jiang Ning didn't bother with Yuan Pei. Her current clothes were indeed too plain and couldn't compare to Chu Qingxue's carefully dressed outfit.
She glanced at Yang Liyun without realizing it.
Yang Liyun happened to be looking in her direction as well, and the moment their eyes met, she immediately looked away guiltily.
Jiang Ning came to the old house today because Yang Liyun asked her to come.
They said Grandpa wasn't feeling well and they were out of medicine, so they asked her to go buy some.
The old house has a caregiver specifically responsible for taking care of Grandpa, as well as servants.
But because it concerned her grandfather, Jiang Ning did not refuse.

After Yuan Pei finished speaking, Lu Junyan smiled.
Lu Junyan's smiling lips were as captivating as they were now, and his smile was just as hurtful.
Jiang Ning remained silent, walked between Lu Junyan and Chu Qingxue, and strode towards the mansion.
"That Jiang Ning is so cunning. Why didn't he use this big place? He had to go right through between my sister-in-law and Brother Lu." Yuan Pei said indignantly.
Lu Lifeng didn't expect Jiang Ning to come today. After hearing the whole story, he realized that Jiang Ning had been deceived by Yang Liyun.
"Xiao Ning, what brand of dress do you want to wear? Grandpa will buy it for you." Lu Lifeng picked up his phone to make a call. "My granddaughter-in-law is not someone that just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can belittle."
Jiang Ning quickly stopped her; she really didn't care about a dress, and besides, she could afford one.
She didn't care whether Chu Qingxue and Yuan Pei looked down on her.
As for Lu Junyan...
Jiang Ning sighed, changed the subject, inquired about her grandfather's recent health, and reminded him to take his medicine on time and in the correct dosage.
When I stepped out of the house, the party outside was still going on.
Chu Qingxue was holding Lu Junyan's arm, surrounded by several people.
These people appeared to be Chu Qingxue and Lu Junyan's high school classmates, and were also quite familiar with Yuan Pei.
"Do you know how upset we were when you two broke up after graduation?"

She and Lu Junyan were not secretly married.
However, the wedding was not a big affair; only relatives and a few friends knew about it.
Apart from Yuan Pei, most of Lu Junyan's high school classmates were abroad helping their families with their businesses, so they didn't know that Lu Junyan was already married.
Lu Junyan's behavior certainly didn't seem like that of a married person.
Jiang Ning felt ashamed of himself for eavesdropping on these things.
On the other side, Yang Liyun walked over with a cocktail and joined the discussion.
"Qingxue is indeed a good girl. Just because she bought me health supplements from Yangshengzhai every day when I was hospitalized, she is qualified to be my Lu family's daughter-in-law."
