Chapter 6 Tracking
"Ouch! Why aren't you watching where you're going? You almost broke my back! Pay up!"
Su Meng's face turned ashen as she coldly stared at the old woman sitting on the ground, clinging to her legs and brazenly faking her injury. She raised her arm in anger, then lowered it again in a huff.
She took a deep breath. "Auntie, if you keep making trouble, I'm going to call the police."
She was indeed walking in a hurry, but I'm sure she didn't hit anyone.
When someone is down on their luck, they might even choke on water.
The old woman wouldn't let it go, tears streaming down her face, as she forcefully tugged at Su Meng's trouser leg, wailing, "The world is going to the dogs!"
"Everyone come quick! This comrade is about to hit an old man!"
She cried and sang, and soon attracted a large group of enthusiastic people.
Su Meng glanced at the setting sun, leaned down and whispered in the old man's ear, "Grandpa, if you keep fooling around like this, I'm going to have a heart attack. Then we'll see who's tougher!"
The old woman stared at her in astonishment and said incredulously, "You're lying!"
Su Meng smiled wickedly: "Why don't you give it a try?"
The old lady paused for a moment, grabbed her ankle and slapped it twice, then coldly remarked, "Truly worthy of the Su family, they're ruthless!"
Sensing something amiss in her ankle, Su Meng was puzzled, but smiled slyly, "Thank you for the compliment!"
Once she reached a secluded corner, she quickly pulled out a small piece of paper she had tucked into her sock. On it, scrawled in writing, was the message: "Not a good day to go out!"
Is this a reminder that she's being followed?
Or was it just an old man's prank?
Neither of these factors could stop her from taking action.
Su Meng clutched the crumpled paper tightly, her expression cold, and then turned and walked towards the clothing store across the street.
When Su Meng, disguised as a man, came out of the store again, she discovered the person who had been following her.
The man was sitting on the steps in front of the shop, holding a newspaper.
When Su Meng looked over, the man put down his newspaper and glanced at her.
In that one glance, Su Meng only saw the round sunglasses on his nose and the scars on his forehead and the corners of his eyes.
Su Meng never expected that she would be targeted as soon as she returned to China.
She doesn't know who the other person is?
However, the rumors of the Su family's immense wealth in Shanghai are likely the source of some people's restless ambitions.
Since she's being watched, it's not safe for her to make any money transfers.
Then take them all out.
After getting rid of her "tail," Su Meng successfully converted all the money in the savings accounts of Shen Wuyang, Zhong Cuilin, and Zhong Wanrou into small gold bars using different guises.
As soon as I stepped out of the bank, I overheard someone talking about the Su family not far away.
"You're saying Su Mianzhi withdrew all his savings? And even exchanged them for gold bars?"
"Yes! He had all the proper paperwork, so we changed it."
"Did the nanny take it too?"
"Yes, her daughter's money was taken too. All their family's funds have turned into worthless cash. Do you think they're planning to run away?"
"Hmph! Escape? You don't even ask if I'll allow it. Alright, it's come to this now, you guys keep an eye on that safe."
Upon hearing this, Su Meng's heart clenched, and her face turned as black as ink.
It turns out that it wasn't a secret that the Su family had a safe.
The sky was darkening, and a storm was brewing.
Fortunately, Su Meng had taken the safe from the beginning.
The person in charge of managing the safes was probably honest and didn't leak the information.
Su Meng looked at the person who gave the order and followed him without hesitation.
She wanted to see what kind of deity this "master" was.
Then, seeing him swagger into the triage committee, she had an "I see" look on her face.
Currently, Shen Wuyang is the deputy director of Shanghai's largest shipyard, in charge of production and operations.
Originally, this shipyard belonged to the Su family. At the beginning of the movement, Shen Wuyang "actively" handed it over in order to protect himself.
Su Meng suddenly remembered a mention in the book that when Shen Wuyang handed over the shipyard, someone above hinted that he should also hand over the Su family's last profitable restaurant.
But Shen Wuyang couldn't bear to part with it, so he found a "good person" in the division committee, thus saving the restaurant.
The book doesn't mention who the "good guy" is, but Su Meng knows it's nothing more than a power-money transaction.
She crouched in the shadows, her mind entering her spatial dimension, and quickly reviewed all the documents she had looted from Shen Wuyang's room.
Finally, records of his social interactions over the past ten years were found in a notebook.
One of them, Hao Youli, caught her attention.
The only difference is that Hao Youli didn't receive the largest amount of money; rather, he received the most antiques, paintings, watches, and jewelry.
The records went on and on, filling more than a dozen pages.
These are all the property of the Su family, how dare they?
At this moment, Su Meng was not in a hurry to check the safe; she wanted to "visit" Hao Youli first.
On the deserted street, the dim streetlights cast her long, slender, and lonely shadow.
Her long, wavy ponytail swayed listlessly behind her head.
She walked for an hour just to wait until it was quiet at night.
This two-story villa is inhabited only by Mr. and Mrs. Hao Youli.
As soon as Su Meng got close, she was blocked by a small, dark-colored dog that darted out of the bushes.
"Woof!"
Although the sound was faint, it was clearly amplified by several hundred decibels in the quiet night.
Su Meng found it in the way and casually tossed it into her spatial storage.
Then, they went into the second-floor bedroom and dragged the drugged Hao Youli into the study.
They woke him up and began interrogating him: "You took so many antiques and jewelry from the Su family, where are they now?"
"Mind your own business, I can shut you up anytime."
Su Meng had only asked one question when Hao Youli threatened her.
She walked over with a smile, stomped on his hand and ground it down hard, saying casually, "You make a good point. But I can shut you up right now."
After saying that, he shook out a packet of medicine powder.
The powder fell onto the wound on his hand.
Hao Youli screamed repeatedly, his expression contorted with rage. He had barely uttered a curse word when he was terrified by the gleaming dagger.
Su Meng toyed with the dagger, watching him with a leisurely air. "You'd better behave yourself, or my dagger will drink blood."
Hao Youli's pupils contracted, and he instantly regained his composure. "Who are you?"
Su Meng took out Shen Wuyang's notebook and waved it in front of him. "I've been ordered to retrieve the Su family's treasure. Tell me, where is it?"
Hao Youli stared at the records in disbelief, his eyes bulging and his facial muscles trembling.
He gritted his teeth and growled, "You bastard, I will never let you get away with this. I..."
Seeing him rambling on and on, Su Meng grew impatient.
Without even blinking, she stabbed him in the back of the hand with a knife. "Hurry up! Don't waste time."
"In...the basement."
Su Meng smiled, sprinkled a packet of sleeping pills, and went into his basement.
Most of the items on the list are in the basement, and a few of the more ordinary ones have become decorative items in the study.
As for jewelry, there were only one or two inconspicuous pieces that his wife treasured and wore with her.
But what surprised her even more was...
